page 14 row 2 image 2 - blue triangle
page 15 row 1 image 3- blue triangle

And I asked if these were a mistake or related to bungies' recent forum hijacking problems, since these images first came from bungie.

Odd shaped triangles...

I lol'd

Hahaha

Well whoever reads the email at IGN is gonna be awfully confused, even moreso if they didn't know Bungie put shapes in the screenshots.

Another thought I just had... IGN released these screens today as the imbargo on them was lifted. But unusually they updated on a sunday to get the jump on the competition.

What if each of the big gaming websites was sent their own coded images and we have to wait for the whole lot to come out? Most updates will be coming in a few hours, and more sites might have more images... We might be trying to solve a puzzle with only have the pieces.

That would be fun if they were doing that... Let's keep a look out!

Off the top of my head... Gamespot.com, 1up.com, Dailyradar.com
Not really sure, but IGN isn't the be all and end all of online game news Smile

EDIT: Apologies to anyone offended by my hideous spelling of the word embargo... It's far too late in my world Razz

Neither Gamespot nor Gamesradar (Incorrectly stated as newsradar or something by a previous poster) have updated their sites with new Halo 3 content. I get the feeling this was an IGN exclusive, which I wouldn't doubt.

Sorry about DailyRadar... Haven't visited the site in years, didn't know it had been rebranded Razz Shows what I know eh?

XBoxyde.de has the screenshots, but they look to just be lifted from Bungie due to the resolution of them. So I don't think they count. Has Gamespot been updated for the day then? I'm in the UK, so I don't really know what time the sites do their updates, all I know is I go to bed, the updates are made and I wake up Very Happy

Clean versions?

Are there versions of these pictures anywhere out there that don't have the colored rectangles? If we have both versions we can subtract one from the the other. I would think that if there's anything we're supposed to do with these boxes, that would be the way to do it.

In this very thread, the clean versions of two of the pictures have been posted and I myself have done a little manipulation using them... Very Happy

Moar info in the screenshots.

In addition to the conundrum of these boxes, some of the level concept art in the latest batch of images appear to contain numbers...

There is a thread about it at this location..

Starimage?

Do these rectangles somehow fit into the guide lines shown on the starimage?

And also..if you look to the right side of the green rectangle does anyone think those black lines bear a resemblance to the yellow lines in the avatar of AR? At any rate, that avatar appears to have more too it. Maybe putting the rectangles on the starimage will help.

(Can we move the numbers to a different thread?)

Well, now isn't this embarrassing. I read the whole thread twice and couldn't figure out how exactly you determined the colored rectangles. *ahem* Trout

Interesting that the the colored rectangles are either 100% color or 100% original image. I was hoping they'd mask something interesting instead. Confused
