[META] Trout-free question zone Got a question? A ton of questions? Lost? This is your spot. The subject says it all. This thread is the place to ask questions you aren't sure where to ask or who to ask. If you're afraid you have a foolish question, don't let that stop you. Ask away. (I personally hold the record for the most foolish questions asked, as well as the most beginner mistakes made, so you have nothing to worry about.)
We're all about helping people play the game.
(I stickied this to make it easier to find.)

New and shiny! Yeah, I'm new, so sue me. Hey guys, I lurked around during the ILB event/s (I live in Australia, not much I could do), and was awed by the skills of the 'beekeepers', and the other participants.
I only just found out about the new ARG for H3 (yeah, I'm slow...), and I was wanting to get involved.
So, big questions:
What do we know? What puzzles are we stuck on?
What clues (that have lead to more information or puzzles), have we gleaned?
More importantly, what can I do to help?
Cheers,
PsionicFox

The outline on the Iris Wiki is a good place to find out what we know, and what clues we have.
There aren't currently any outstanding puzzles (which we know about). If there are any puzzles, they are yet to been found, and we've been looking for over a week now.

Thanks, yeah, I just checked that out.
Not having looked at any of the IG sites except for tSoA site, I think there is something to that email...

Hi PsionicFox. Being new is a great thing, so don't feel like you have to apologize. The saying "the more the merrier" is so true with ARGs. Always good to have more Australians around.
You need to look at the in-game sites. The wiki is a great update, but nothing substitutes for going to the sites themselves.
I'm not sure about the email being an open puzzle, but I'm not a puzzle expert.

Question: we can always be sure that the Adjutant Reflex posts on bungie.net are valid, right? Even if we aren't sure what AI is using that name, we know all those posts legitimate in-game updates?

Well, they're all done by the AR user, who has various properties a normal user could not have. Therefore they're either legit, or there's a very good hacker trying to mess with us.

Grok I'm new, as well, although I've been reading nonstop for the past 2 days. Although, in reference to the misspelled letters on the SOTA website....I can't seem to remember where we got the phrase "Do you grok?" or even "yougrok" from. I won't have much time in the next week to find it, so if someone could refresh my memory. Thanks a bajillion.

It is the email address to send the application form to. It is in the pdf file which is commented out in the source code of the sign up page.

Just show up here and give listen to what people have to say and give input yourself. There's no real "joining," it's all just however involved you want to be in discussions (and potentially activities later on, but who knows). Welcome aboard.

how to start I think reading the wiki and going through the in-game sites are the first steps. I would also read all of the posts by Adjutant Reflex from bungie.net.
And, of course, check the forums. Any updates we get will find their way to the forums.
What we are trying to do now? Figure out the next step. Please join us.

I'm wondering, with the flood of information released in the phone converstaion, has anyone googled more than just the document number? For instance, I googled 'Site 34', which came up with a couple interesting places. Not sure if they are in-game or not.
New to this whole thing, so if I'm posting this in an inappropriate spot, lemme know and I'll move it.

A little spec I was reading TheBruce's wiki on this ARG because I haven't the time or patience to browse trough a lot of topics to know what I want....
So... I read the spec about AR being the sum of all monitors. I think that could be a very nice theory, I don't really know, but there are, what, five halos? So that would give us 5 monitors... if you look the glyph, it has five parts, interconnected... when AR gone missing, we received the glyph without the upper left part...
Also, the glyph reflected on Master Chief's helmet is missig the upper right, maybe accounting for the halo he destroyed. The servers we're unlocking could very well be servers on the halos, used to communicate between them.
That only leaves a question, why AR would contact us? Maybe the servers were shut down and he needs us to restablish hi communication with the other halos.
Hope this might interest someone and I'm very sorry if this spec didn't came in here, I tought it would be mean to contact TheBruce directly... Thanks!
