[e-mail] Difference Engine Sent a response to Mr. Plasma's butterfly mail this morning and got this response.
Quote:
Dear Josh
Thank you for your correspondence and condolence,
I am not of this age and so it takes some time for me to work your new fangled difference engines. -Though in my heart I believe that it is similar calculus that will save me.
You ask how you can help? I think you may need a portable difference engine that can speak to the stars to find me. .... Then we will talk in person.
Mr. A Plasm

I will help in any way I can. What is it that you need from me?

I didn't get a butterfly either.
Just did some looking up on 'difference engines', basically an early mechanical form of calculator. I suspect that he is simply referring to computers 'new-fangled difference engines' and by 'portable difference engine that speaks to the stars' I suspect he is referring to a PDA with WiFi as I read somewhere about the Geist PM's experimenting with Mediascape (a new technology based on delivering content based on geographical location).
I hope not though seeing as I don't have a PDA...

Mine didn't have the "then we can talk in person" appended.
Seems to be a reference to GPS/laptop-style kit.
Is there any way "Corinthians 15:54" can be read as a geographic reference? Doesn't look to be Bristol anyway...
http://www.mscapers.com/ seems relevant, based on Jon's comments in http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19599&start=6
[edit - quoted your email to make it stand out from your comments; save the spoilers for puzzle solves, go ahead and post your specs - kona]

Once we get all of the butterflies, I'm thinking some layering/photoshop tricks may be called for.

Dear Rekidk
Perhaps you would call it a "Portable Difference Apparatus"™?
A friend who I met after my days once said:
"We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever."
Mr. A Plasm
On Thu Jul 5 15:39 , sent:
Mr. Plasm,
What is this 'portable difference engine' that you speak of? Is there any other name that I might know it by?
I truly want to help, and I am sorry for your situation.
---Rekidk
And of course, 'P ortable D ifference A pparatus' would appear to indicate a PDA.
Attached was a new butterfly. Scary number.

I got 7 for ya. But I'm not certain how to upload it? Do I have to find someplace to host it first?
