So? The Transformers are alive, but they're robotic, as is Voltron, albeit by humans.

I believe it is either:

1. Voltron for the above subject

2. Godzilla because of the sound

3. Lost, since theres some chance that it could be that. They have done crazier things.

 		Okay someone should ask the obvious question
I realize the Ethan Haas eruption has not officially been tied to the Cloverfield trailer, and I never saw the videos in question upon solving any of the puzzle since they've been pulled anyway....

The only snip I have seen at all, from browsing all these rumor sites on flicks is someone mentioned the same Ethan Haas from The Class and some girl's name who is also apparently *in* the clover field mystery movie.

If that's the tie in, I have the obvious question....


What, exactly, would Ethan Haas be right/wrong about?


Should we be looking at back episodes of the Class? (Please say no).

If this isn't the right Ethan Haas, any ideas on another point of relevance for this name?

 		I feel fairly confident that the ethan haas stuff was a plant...

also, if you mouse over the right-most star a weird symbolic message pops up...and after the first movie, a third star shows up that replays the movie.

Thoughts?

Also, even though already mentioned, in a view source of the site this shows up in the html code:

 		yes, that has been gone over.

It has been recognized, at least by me and some others in the topic, that it is indeed connected to the film as Paramount has taken down Youtube videos displaying the website.

Well so far, the cryptic style of the trailer's date resolving to an actual website with a curious photo and zero content, which resolves to the BTS contact Albert Pike, which is crosslinked to sector7, which was the Transformers ARG does seem pretty blatant a clue this may be one also, and this trailer was the one directly preceeding the movie.

Nobody with a firing brain cell would've just arbitrarily thought to try the date as a url...and the 1-18-08.com site has no content yet is 'wired' with a visitor tracker...so they had to have some measure of making that site known to someone. Even moreso, nobody who is lucid would just arbitrarily decide to see if 1-18-08.com was a website online without a good reason Laughing

So, it would seem that the curtain got raised before "they" were ready, and this must be why the trailer was pulled from YouTube.

Only if you think about it a little, that makes zero sense. There's a zillion videos on YT....why this one?


What I mean is this: Transformers release was July 3. The trailer for the movie with no name was also aired July 3.

The trailer was curious but how many people, in a completely normal, reasonable scenario would've thought to pirate out a copy of the trailer via a cellphone (presumably). It's a flick without a title, or one that flashed too fast to catch, it was glaring in its "low grade" film quality ahla Blair Witch, and then aside from the strange roar and fire and flying SOL head, the trailer itself didn't really yield much in the way of a pull.


Why would anybody bootleg a copy of this one and not of any of the other trailers if they were trailer swiping?


Suddenly there's a bootleg recording not only online but in 24hours, there is buzz and rumor that it's a monter movie. Why was there no monster movie buzz on July 2nd? Why was Abrams' projects nearly irrelevant?

No sooner is the connection made to Abrams and Transformers and a possible link there to the "top secret" project, suddenly there's the "plant" about Ethan Haas.

How, exactly is this connected to the Cloverfield movie?

In reviewing the thread so far, somebody just showed up and announced they have friends in the know and this Ethan Haas site is related. And BAM, this site is being virally transmitted to the game sites as being related but, as someone else mentioned, nobody has yet to provide any substantial link that connects Cloverfield with the puzzle site.


The Ethan/right site puzzle doesn't seem to have anything to do with the content of the mystery trailer or the image shown on the 1-18-08 site.


It has or had videos (I didn't see them) and then within 24 hours those videos were scrubbed, along with the trailer, allegedly by Paramount who got antsy about them?

I doubt it. That's a billion dollar corporation - if they deliberately produced "low grade quality" Blair Witch style videos and embedded them in the Ethan puzzle site, it was on purpose to begin with, so their agenda would be for people to see the videos. So why yank them at all?


How many hits did this plant site get in 24 hours, as opposed to the mystery 1-18-08 site?

What was the conent in each of the scrubbed videos? Was any of it specifically or obviously connected to the trailer itself? Like footage from other scenes that logically led to or trailed from the trailer?

My point is if it was Paramount backed, they put them on YT to begin with, and the Ethan site and 24 hours is not enough time to really get much use out of them - only small number would've even seen them. I've followed this thread since July 4, by one day, and despite getting through at least 2 puzzles without emailing the Van person, I never saw a video. Next day BAM, pulled?


If it is not Paramount backed, what link is there to this Ethan puzzle site and the cheesy blog that most low level gamers use? Someone mentioned the flash game was high production, and while it's a good one, I've seen scores of flash games and videos that were not done by media companies...so the flash quality or puzzle challenge does not a link to Cloverfield make.


It just showed up and seemed injected into the Cloverfield buzz - it could just be someone's quick thinking opporunism ;-p

If not, then what is the actual link between the trailer and the Ethan site, and is it credible?

I get it that the trailer was ARG style but nothing about it would suggest any link at all to the Ethan Haas business outside somebody just saying it's related or they heard it's related or a mysterious friend said it...

Okay...thanks. Had to get that off my chest.

And finally, regarding the photo on the 1-18-08 site - it did appear that it was one image split and reversed, it looks like the same girl in both halves. Excluding the Ethan eruption for a second, as if it hadn't come up, the reality this is an Abrams site connected to the trailer is still relevant, so they chose this image for a reason.

If it is the same girl, then someone split and reversed the halves to make it appear to be two people. Could this split/reverse also be a clue? The date in the credits resolved to the website, so it was a veiled clue. That its trailer preceded Transformers and the WHOIS shows the cross reference to Albert Pike, and the same phone number is a clue. The phone number on both resolving to an airfield in Cali is a clue, as much as whoever figured out it was formerly known as Clover Field.

The image seems to me to be a clue itself, it's there for a reason, none of this would be arbitrary. If it's the same girl then they opted for a cut down the center and a switch/reverse of the halves. This IS related to the trailer in whatever manner. All that's there is the photo and timestamp, but if the date resolved to a url, could the way the photo was manipulated be relevant?

And then there's that creepy demon image in the center - if it's not a trick of lighting, it was added in the photo manipulation and qualifies as a clue that is likely pointing to something - pardon the pun - "in your face."

But still hidden....

As somebody indicates, Ethan Haas was a character on The Class. Whether or not Wikipedia is to be trusted on this one is uncertain, but it has the following summary of the character Ethan Haas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Class):

"Ethan Haas was in love with his fiancée, Joanne Richman (Kasey Wilson), and planned the ultimate surprise party: a reunion with their third grade classmates to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the day they met. However, Joanne felt he was smothering her and left. He is a pediatrician with a golden retriever, like his ex-fiancée. The first address is a fake, but the Alexandria, VA address is not. 101 Callahan Drive is the address for the George Washington National Masonic Monument in Alexandria. Albert Pike was a famous stonemason. Does anyone live in Alexandria? This looks like a clue to me, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a flyer or thumb drive lying around there with more info. Maybe Pike has a plaque there or something?
