Has anyone analysed the new wallpaper you can grab from here?

Maybe they're just talking about whatever is exploderizing in the background but "The image features a classic Red versus Blue encounter with some equally and mayhaps more interesting shenanigans unfolding in the background" made me think they've hidden something in the picture.

I've been scanning over that thing since it was released and haven't found anything related to IRIS.

Some of the crew at HBO noticed in this thread that the turret-wielding spartan in the background appears to be wearing an armor type we haven't seen yet.

Someone said it was just CQB armor to which lukems (Luke McKay) replied "orly?" either indicating that it is indeed a new armor type, or just being goofy (it is 2AM after all).

If it is a new armor type, it's likely that's what they were talking about

Yeah the turret wielding Spartan is in CQB armor, and the one with the SpLaser is wearing EVA armor

Edit: here are links to the pages that display them

Actually, if you look closely and compare that image with the 3D shot of the CQB, you can see the helmet is definitely different. The back of the helmet in the GamePro image is two toned (red & black) where the one from the 3D shot is solid. The visor seems to be much thinner in the GamePro shot. Also the actual helmet part around the bottom part of the visor is shaped differently. In the quicktime vid it comes toward the front almost parallel to the top part & then angles sharply down toward the chin. In the GamePro image, it's one continuous line from the back of the visor to the chin.

Granted this is a drawing and not an actual screenshot so it could very well just be an earlier draft of the CQB armor. However, since both Luke McKay & Louis Wu seem to be hinting that this is in fact NOT the CQB armor, I'm inclined to believe the same.

Okay, from the angles, it looked pretty close to me, especially as you are able to customise a ton of stuff from the implications. But Luke's post does bring it into question, so you're prolly right there.

It is clearly a new unannounced version of an armor. Not only looking at the helmet, if you care to look at the spartans arms its clear that he doesn't have those large plates right below the shoulders that the CQB armor is supposed to have. The chest plate of that spartan is also different from the CQB and the EVA armor, where the CQB armor has a knife on it (which i think is a nice touch).

Well I'm not so sure , In the screen shots posted on bungies and ign there were mixes of the standard and new permutations I believe so this could be a mix and match of standard and nonstandard armor.

I looked at the picture long and hard, and I decided that I saw at least 4 different armor types. The EVA the CQB, the classic Mjolnir armor, the new one that the turret weilding Spartan has, and SPI armor from Ghosts of Onyx. That's just me though, maybe I'm crazy.

Well then ya shoulda said that :p, there's lots in here about all the released stuff. I'm about to go look at the door in delsolation, to see if the glyph is there. I saw the sign for Ling-Ling in Zanzabar. This may have been another reason they release the pack free, so that us botonists could look for or open the glyph.
