An intriguing situation, of course Smile To keep things amicable (which, I think, is the best way of solving things - that is, as a group), but in order to keep the plot going, I'd recommend being *careful* about what information you post where. My own checklist currently is:

1. I'm trying to post personal info as little as possible, unless I'm sure it's in-game, or for some reason I can't chase it up. Part of this is just because I'm not sure where the TIAG/TINAG line is at times, and if I were OOG and uninvolved, I wouldn't particularly want my personal details splashed all over the internet. If necessary, I'll post pointers to people (e.g. their company profile) rather than private contact details.

2. If you're with-holding information for "character privacy" reasons, it's still plausible to inform everyone else that you're at least following something. An explanation of why you can't divulge info is better than "holding back" all info, as it were.

3. I'm assuming this forum is "safe".

4. I'm not sure if wikis and other places (e.g. blogposts) for info are safe or not. So far, judging from Eric's mails, I'm guessing they're not. I'd continue therefore to use IRC and these threads openly (although judgement call on who's in the IRC channel at the time...) Everything else - use your discretion as above, I say.

Before anyone jumps in, definitely not having a go at anyone - just attempting to help out on the line between not being able to talk to in-game characters, and not being able to talk to each other. Above all, it's looking like an intriguing game at least Smile (And slow enough for me to follow whilst still getting some work done <g>)

Mason, keep in mind that just sending mail to a character doesn't guarantee that you'll receive helpful information, or a reply at all. :) I've accepted that Eric doesn't mail me in reply, probably because I started much later than Mason/Scribe.

Regardless, I do try to assist in what ways I can. But, I can't do even the small things without information, and the only source of information we have is Eric's mail, unfortunately.

Simply put, it's my opinion that any information should be open, in whatever way people agree on. An ARG should be a drama-free team effort, and information sent through email is just as valuable as solving a puzzle. If the solution to puzzles weren't posted, everyone else would be at a loss. It's the same situation here, except we won't even be able to find the puzzle.

Still, it is entirely your decision, Mason, on where the line is drawn.

6op1wiki now password protected

OK, I'll bite. Eric's GTalk status says "Ignore security and it will go away", but in this case I've decided to add extra security in. The 6op1wiki at my site is now password protected, as I'm not certain if it's being monitored by Eric/AA3/them.

However, as I'm certain that unfiction is off-limits to them*, I figure posting the log-in here is ok Smile

Username: genepool

You'll obviously still need a log-in for the wiki in order to make changes. But at least this way we can control who has access to the data and thoughts we're collecting. (Info war time... I love the smell of dumpster divers in the morning.)

Will link to this post from the "failed log-in" page.

* following the forum rules, and Eric's ignorance of what we've said here.

Ok, so I've just had an email from AA3, simply entitled 'Disseminate.' Text below:

Bah. I'm away for 2 weeks now, but mason said I could post this IM chat he had with AA3:

Quote:

Scorpio... says:
AA3, can I help you?

The bright light says:
in the coming days perhaps
i've found a moment to catch my breath
and enjoy the ...
miracle of life.

Scorpio... says:
I see, how intriguing.
Whats in the file?

The bright light says:
not accessible - for me - sorry
all I have is heresay

Scorpio... says:
And what's the hearsay?

The bright light says:
I hear the big story is wrong

Scorpio... says:
Oh really? Big story?

The bright light says:
really.
and I trust my sources...
but you will have to confirm
like I said, I can't access it as I'm carrying it in an unusual way.

Scorpio... says:
Who are your sources?

The bright light says:
My sources RIP

Scorpio... says:
AA1/AA2?

The bright light says:
intramuscular flash drive

Scorpio... says:
That sounds complicated

The bright light says:
no, very simple
and crude
and uncomfortable
our...operation...didn't have the big budget, like they do.

Scorpio... says:
Who is 'they'

The bright light says:
I wish it were that simple
but its not

Scorpio... says:
Do you have any other contacts?

The bright light says:
outside of you? Razz
my contacts have been systematically taken off-line
which was obviously their plan for me, as well

Scorpio... says:
Where does Eric fit into all this?

The bright light says:
but I had other plans, and means.
Eric is a pawn, like the rest of us subjects
I assume.

Scorpio... says:
But whose pawn is he?
On your side, or "their" side?

The bright light says:
I doubt he could even answer that with any amount of assurance

Scorpio... says:
Interesting
c2c2?

The bright light says:
I find it interesting as well
perhaps we are more black & white-type people, you and I.

Scorpio... says:
Perhaps so

The bright light says:
I think Eric is more comfortable in the gray
or perhaps he is colour blind.

Scorpio... says:
Perhaps he is.
Do you know Nick?

The bright light says:
I have no living contact by that name.
I should go.

Scorpio... says:
What about a disposed contact?

The bright light says:
I think I'm starting to burn

Scorpio... says:
Was Nick AA1/AA2?

The bright light says:
1:52 is a great time for a margarita, don't you think?
cheerio

Scorpio... says:
I agree. Enjoy.

The bright light says:
keep your eyes peeled
figuratively, of course

Kind of confirms one suspicion I had anyway - the human genetic code is
actually a "code", probably created by "them"/c2c2. "Intramuscular flash drive" means that we're all storing something, somehow, which means someone's placed it there. And Nick suggested that any of us could be the rabbit when I bumped into him the other day.

From that, I'd assume that references to "heresay" and "the big story"
refer either to humans as being created by God (heresay being half
heresy) or humans evolving naturally. If we've been created
deliberately, I'd assume the "big story" that's wrong is evolution, and
"heresay" (i.e. against what people believe) is some kind of
"intelligent design".

Not sure if the references to Margaritas and black/white/grey/colour-blind mean anything more specific. I remember Stuart Munro saying stuff about colours too, so there's potentially something in that.

Anyway, don't solve everything before I'm back Wink Goodest luck!

Sorry for the double post... Just noting that the author of the RTF is "Palmer" and the comment is "You are not expected to find it." Kloo?

so anyone look into that file yet? Opening it in wordpad gives:

ZNEVESB-IXJXISZYQOZQU XHOWTHAWALGT, TWAROUFZQUATUT LQE
URZEERHTXGXIALQT. URENOZK LCCENOZLY UX FTHGIEZ
YROUFZTDYHLWAOWTQI.

raven
francis
rabbit

note that the bold character doesn't display the same here. It shows that the font is AppleSymbols while the rest in Times-Roman

So... it's a code.

Here's what I gathered in the last 2mins of looking at it.

X = O
C = P
U = T

Based on the first 4 characters being "6op 1"

And on that basis, the word that is probably the easiest to get (because of no repeat letters and double P):
LCCENOZLY
_ pp _ _ _ _ _ _

Mason, I don't think this one is a normal cryptogram. It looks to be, because of some repeated letter combinations, but we don't know that. I spent quite a while on it last night, and it turns out that the _pp_______ word is just about nonexistent. "L" would have to equal "A" or "I" due to the single letter word earlier, so it'd either be "app________a_" or "ipp________i_." Which just doesn't exist.

Also, I'm not sure U=T. If it's because of the "UX" word, it's not definite, because that could also be "go," "so," "no," etc.

Many ciphers use other words or algorithms as bases when they're made. I think that "raven francis rabbit" and the cube root of pi have something to do with that. Else, why would we be given words we're already familiar with?

Also, there are a -lot- of long words here. Either this guy is using nearly straight science-jargon, this is a cipher and not a cryptogram, the cryptogram has dummy letters, or we're not even really dealing with words in our language.

ETA: If this is the file Eric has been waiting on, I'm sure he'll be able to give us some insight. Not to say that I want to wait around or that we should, but we might have to go that route. Because Eric and I aren't in contact, can anyone else email him and see what he knows about the cipher?

So far I've come up with ENO possibly being a set of dummy letters. If I strike that from the cypher I get:

Quote:
6XC 1 GAFYL AT L IYXDC. URTHGIEZK LYZ
ZNEVESB-IXJXISZYQOZQU XHOWTHAWALGT, TWAROUFZQUATUT LQE
URZEERHTXGXIALQT. URZK LCCZLY UX FTHGIEZ
YROUFZTDYHLWAOWTQI.

LCCZLY you could come up with APPEAR.
LYZ would be ARE

Also now that ENO is gone it allows 6XC 1 GAFYL to be 6OP 1 LIBRA. Following that you have AT L IYXDC.

Plugging in from what there is so far would give AT IRODP with _RO_P being known. GROUP can plug in here nicely.

So for the first sentence I have 6OP 1 LIBRA AT A GROUP. IS would be the only thing that would fit for AT in what I have come up with. So 6OP 1 LIBRA IS A GROUP. is what I have for a first sentence.

I've plugged in everything following this and I think there are probably more dummy letters somewhere...or I am completely off on this Very Happy

*I'm also still half asleep Wink

I found what it says.

Quote:
6op 1 libra is a group. they are ex-government officials, scientists and theologians. they appear to be resurfacing.

I noticed that there were numbers written backwards in the code. I took them out and completed the substitution.

Quote:
6XC 1 GAENOFYL AENOT L IYXDC. URTHGIEZK LYZ ZNEVESB-IXJXISZYQOZQU XHOWTHAWALGT, TWAROUFZQUATUT LQE URZEERHTXGXIALQT. URENOZK LCCENOZLY UX FTHGIEZ YROUFZTDYHLWAOWTQI

ETA: there is also a mistake in the code - four is written fuor once

Clever code! and Clever, clever tipsila for cracking this one! I spent too much time looking for extra-long words, never thinking about there being "junk dna" strands embedded in them. Thanks!

Now, is there any reason they chose 1187624311842 to put in there? (Possibly reversed as 2481134267811)

Thanks. And look at the numbers...

118 76 243 118 42

We haven't seen the 243 or 24 3 or 2 43 yet have we? 118 76 42, yes.

Edit: oops, posted at about the same time!

Edit 2: Thanks, Catherwood - coming from you, that means a lot! Smile
