I was on ethanhaas.org and found this type in the background (looks like it's just black type on a black background:

It's that same quote right? BUT, it ends saying "1-18-08 The Movie"

...wtf? This "title" of 1-18-08 is just a date and there hasn't been a strong enough connection between Ethan Haas and 1-18-08 for someone to post a bogus site connecting the two using some bs flash and some hidden type. Also, I don't know the rules of an ARG as this is my first, but I'm pretty sure you don't come out and talk about a movie called 1-18-08 in the middle of the game... just doesn't seem right.

I can't help it. It looks like the same girl to me.

Now if so, that means the first photo they added isn't a still from the movie (in a natural camcorder setting and not some fx in the movie). It means they cut it and reversed it and made 2 chicks (ahh must be a guy behind this.... Laughing

)

We got pictures in the banner letters, we got some PS work going on, we got a flash photo copier thing going on, we got at least 30 unique photo pair positions per reload - many of them look almost alike but then there is enough shift to qualify as a different position.

I considered time references, maybe their positions reflect clockhands at certain times, I considered match game/memory thing - and their numbers. I saw this puzzle somewhere where the photos were numbered in sequential order and if you grouped some together by theme, the number of the photo corresponded to a letter and the grouping spelled a word or phrase. It was cool, and I considered that for the record...but I fell asleep at 30.

I considered that if you click on the chick pic it brings it to the topmaking a new position, so maybe they double up in pairs....

It was 4am. Cut me some slack - least I was trying this time Laughing

Anyhow, if it'll upload, zip on the way of the shots and the animation.

Everytime you reload the flash it randomly outputs the positions of the photos. I don't think it means anything since its math outputting random numbers. See actionscript:

Catching Up

Been following this from the beginning. REALLY, REALLY, don't think that girl is the same in the first picture. Different eyes. Most distinctive part of someone's face. The one on the left looks Caucasian or Hispanic, while the girl on the right looks African-American or mixed races. The girl on the right looks like the person in the second picture, all the way to the right, as well.

I just think a lot of actresses in movies, especially ones without distinctive celebrity roles, can tend to look alike (perhaps a casting director thing).

Also, very glad that people have dropped the connections to Godzilla, Voltron, Lost, blah blah, etc. I think this movie is just an homage to movies like Godzilla and Gamera, but done in a completely different way that we haven't seen before.

Does Paramount reserve the right not let people know why they requested the removal of a video from a public website? I'd really like to know WHY they took down the Ethan Haas videos on YouTube.

One more bit, I see a big connection with that Slusho thing. Still need to look into it, though.

Thanks Apogee - I will take your word for it then. That code is alien to me anyway but I did at least acknowledge I wasn't proficient with flash and that it may well just be a random thing. Ill take down the zip then ;-p

Soo just curious - what might be the purpose for making them copiable and once a copy pair comes up, one or more of them begin to rotate slowly?

And just FTR, when you make the copy, one of those same pair positions come up.

My thoughts

ok... I may be late in the game, but I apologize if I am repeating all this... From the little research I saw on the web in the last 8 hours...

All I could figure out was that the trailer had to do with the rise of some Demonic creature (possibly this Cthulu) that would bring or has been brought by a third world war. Something to do with clash of religions and the formation of a new world order. I mainly came to this conclusion from all the website references to this Ethan Haas and Albert Pike character... who had some apparent connections to prophecies and satanic rituals during his freemason days. The website for his prophecies. (whether he was for Satanism or against it I'm still trying to figure out). He also mentions in his writings strange symbols that require interpretation...

"Masonry, like all the Religions, all the Mysteries, Hermeticism and Alchemy, conceals its secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled, to conceal the truth, which it calls Light, from them, and to draw them away from it. Truth is not for those who are unworthy or unable to receive it, or would pervert it."

Could these be the symbols on the Ethan Haas site... Still going through the puzzles.

There are so many clues out there... but Godzilla, transformers, and voltron are nowhere near my list of possibilities... would be nice though.

Yes, but didn't we just watch a movie immediately after the mystery trailer in which giant robots duked it out on earth because the bad ones wanted to take over in a major war of the species?

If there would be prophecies involved for whatever happens in the trailer, it would seem to me to be directly pointing to the dealings of Albert Pike and nothing at all to do with Ethan Haas puzzle since this individual apparently rose from the dead to register sectorseven AND 1-18-08.

War of the worlds is not a unique concept. If it applies in the case of the mystery trailer, my wager is that the premise for it is about Pike and what he was into. So far, based only on the trailer and the photos on the site, there's nothing to indicate this as a war of the worlds scenario, but more like some bigass monster thing wrecking NY...

Why would that monster be here?

Leftover robot from transformers?
Shipped in King Kong style from Lost Island?
Government project gone wild?

What we get from the trailer is that some guy's party is totally crashed by huge alive thing blowing up stuff.

What we get - at minimum - off the site are two photos with a time sequence.

What led to the party crashing monster showing up? What about this group makes them connected to whatever the monster is? The site seems to be pointing to the people, the group, the ones who recorded whatever's going on, from their perspective...so it doesn't seem (so far anyway) that the trail for us is to figure out some ancient prophecy but instead work out what these people are experiencing, and possibly in whatever order these pictures might come up next...how *they* work out what the hell is going on on the streets of NY is how *we* would be figuring it out also....which would qualify this as an arg, would it not? We have met Rob at least in the trailer, we see his friends, we've been familiarized with them. He's our main dude Razz

We didn't see the shotdrinking thing in the trailer so it happened before the events of the trailer. Why is the chick in the first photo freaked out or upset half an hour after Rob gets a shot?

I am strongly leaning toward the purpose here being to look at this or go about this from the perspective of these people, since this is already established as the whole perspective of the movie to begin with. We are working it out by uncovering Rob's story, or Rob and his friends.

And nobody in the trailer mentions prophecies or shadow governments or "mad men" or any of the sort of content in the same context as the Ethan videos. Same token, nowhere in the sudden Ethan Haas videos is anybody referencing the events of the trailer, or Rob, or any of that.

At least, that's how this is all striking me at this point given how it's been presented and NOT including in any manner the stuff of Ethan Haas, which I can't bring myself to do without a legitimate or valid bridge between them.

I went back and watched this a few more times a little closer...just observations and a question or two.

First, we know Rob is going to Japan, he's our main dude and he owes the one guy 11 bucks. ;-p

What I was trying to look for are the names of some of the other characters. Hard to make out.

At 0.42 it sounds like the girl is saying "It sounds like an animal"

At 0.52 somebody is asking "what animal sounds like that?"

So they're assuming this is a large animal? I dunno. If I heard that kinda roar and saw shit blowing up, I don't think my first thought would be "animal"....but so far this is what they think it is, so that might lend credence to the godzilla thing, or giant dinosaur or something...and the Lost monster even tho I have no idea what that is since I didn't keep up there.

At 0.57 it sounds like the one guy speaking to Rob says something to the effect of "looks like you should've left town a little bit earlier."

That's sort of a cavalier thing to say in the middle of a giant monster attack. People on the street, some of the others at the party seem to be wigging out scared, but these main ones seem pretty cavalier about it, unphased outside moving out of the way of shooting fireballs and flying statue heads. I might be thinking I should've gotten outta town earlier but that observation loses relevance in light of immediate survival maneuvering....that'd be something said when we got to a safezone and could chill and assess the situation.

Unless they still aren't quite plugged in to what's going on yet, which is plausible given they were partying pretty hard. Their clue bus hasn't quite pulled into the station yet Laughing

At 1.26 it sounds like the guy is asking "has anybody seen...Jack?" Jackie? his jacket?

At 1.09 amid the panic, there are two streaks hitting the ground, fireball style, so it looks like something being fired downward and not falling objects. Too specific a trajectory and force. There is some explosion and shooting debris on fire it looks like but at 1.09, it looks more like something being fired toward the crowd outside in the street and they see it coming and try to get out of the way. If not deliberate fire, it looks like meteors slamming to the ground.

The black chick in the black strapless dress is shown 2 times, the last one right before the incoming flying head. I couldn't pause it on this frame long enough to catch it or get a good look enough to see if this is the girl from the first photo on 1-18 site, or a better shot of her face to see if it's her.

Maybe ripping out some of the audio and cleaning it up to hear better what they're saying amid the noise might reveal something specific to go on? Or get some names of the people? I thought I heard Pam and Jack/Jackie but it's too hard to tell.

And ten bucks says the guy at the end who says this is gonna be the best night ever is gonna get killed....
