Napkin Numbers Photoshop In Photoshop CS2, view lightened enhanced photo at 300%.
Go to filter, artistic, plastic wrap.
The smudged numbers now look like +50000 or +GOODO
Go to filter, sketch, stamp.
The first smudged number now looks like an 8 and the second number looks like a 5.

Wow, that's amazing. I'm gonna see what I can dig up at phonespell.
Update: I unfortunately found nothing with the numbers "85000117236" or "85000117236" but when I ran a phonespell with the number "485000117236" It came up with this result:
"It...Ben" Sound's like the beginning and end of a sentence doesn't it?
It could just be a wild goose chase, but I thought I'd slip it in.

I read "485860217236"
Just FYI, no country has the code +85 followed by an 8. Hong Kong is 0852 and Macao is 0853. I'd take that as a strong indication that it's a 4.
FAO Original Poster: could that number be a phone number in the country you found it?

The country where we found it is Portugal and it has an extra digit...
our phone numbers only have 9 digits, plus 3 for country code. This one has 11.

damn, nice photoshop enhancement!
this makes me believe even more that this isnt a phone number and that it contains letters, at least i think some of those marks look like letters like an O and a Z

If the kidnap victim left this number...did he cross out the first part?
How does that make sense? Why would a victim leave a number that is partially crossed out?

I assumed the kidnapper did it, but now that I think of it, he/she could've just taken the napkin....
Perhaps the number had little to do with the kidnapping itself, but a lot to do with the victim. But why would he deliberately smudge the first few digits?
On second thought, the napkin was found in a bar, right? Maybe his drink was on top of it and the condensation smudged the message or the drink spilled on it.
EDIT: That would also explain the stain on the napkin.
2ND EDIT: Another thought: maybe there's more to this napkin than just the numbers....

Another enhancement napkin photo One more enhancement, does make the first letter a 4. A filter on photoshop CS2.
Also, don't have the photo, but another enhancement made it look like
4??990
The whole thing is, the smudged letters are definitely different writing than the others that we can see. The smudged letters are not of the same handwriting. I think they are different for a reason. Also, out of about 30 different enhancements I tried, it still looks like a "Z" instead of a "2".

So Somebody wrote one number and someone else scratched it out and wrote another... But... what use could that be?
Is one set of numbers/letters a lie?

some context: the victim received or made a phone call, wrote on the napkin and left the bar and probably he passed the number to his cell phone and left his glass on top of the napkin

Now THAT makes sense.
Oh, and looking back at Palm's enhancements, it could be concluded that the whole number would probably, just probably be either, "485990117Z36" or "485990117236".
I tried phonespelling it but I got nothing....

Yes, and if there's a site with the napkin, could you link us please?

It's not crossed out, it was droped on a bar table, and as you know bar tables tend to be wet, and it soak up the water and blured the numbers/letters..
And the only thing we have is this photo, no real napkin or website...

Well, I guess we have to take this one step at a time.
What could this be other than a phone number?
It can't really be anything really complicated, or they would've given us a little bit more to go by (I hope).
If it is a phone number we'll have to find out which country has one with that many numbers.
If it's not... well... we'd have to cross that bridge when we get there....
