(as requested. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feel free to tell me if I need to correct, add, or delete something. I'm new at this; forgive me my errors)

Bristel Goodman- The Story So Far

Jbonnell-nli starts us off on 12/14 with the trailhead, reporting some mysterious videos showing up at vsocial and other video sites. Some are short teaser clips—one is called either "ironwheat2.mov" or "hot sexy webcam girl" depending on where you look and depicts a clip from the first full video in which a woman asks, repeatedly and in many ways, "Don't you think we should say goodbye?" Another short clip, called "Have you seen her?" is taken from the second video and shows a woman (later learned to be Malaysian, I believe) staring into a camera. The real treasure, though, are two longer videos. The first, "disk1" depicts a young aspiring model's webcam chats with an unknown person. An instant messaging chat between "Ironwheat" and "rhinojock27" also takes place on the screen, regarding dating and rhino's identity. A mysterious voice is often heard saying "don't go." The mysterious chatter is clearly trying to get the model to date him or her. The model also seems to be upset about something that she cannot work out and says that she needs to leave. As the model is explaining to the webcam chatter that maybe leaving is for the best, she goes to investigate a mysterious sound. We then see her body battered, bloody, and clearly drawing its last breaths stumble back towards the camera. The video ends with a different girl's webcam image in a picture frame smiling at the camera. There is some debate on the unfiction forums as to whether this is real, ARG, or hoax, and thebruce finds a comment on a message board warning that the videos have been linked to a "webcam serial killer" and that a major internet company has been "suppressing the story." Many posters, however, believe that the acting is too cheesy for it to be real. Chixor1 notices a voice in the video reading out a list of numbers. EarlyWyrm picks out the list of numbers being read as "13 71 32 35 72 67 26 13 84 15 21" Kimer is able to find the letters spelled out by the sign language hands in the video, which spell "tlegostlegod"

The second video, "disk2" begins with a young man planning to pledge a fraternity. He's doing situps and explaining, presumably to a webcam chatter, why he wants to pledge and why he's going through the hazing. Later he's doing pushups and explaining that a lot of the hazing involved alcohol. The webcam chatter seems to want to know details about the hazing process. We also see an instant messenger chat between GameFace_17 and Brother Chadster about football. Later we get a chat between RuMi-909 and th3spian04. Abruptly the scene changes to the girl from the end of the first video. She is an aspiring actress going on auditions. She is apparently in New York against her parents' wishes, as they want her to go back to Malaysia and get a "regular job". We then get textmessages between RuMi (apparently the Malaysian girl) and th3spian. RuMi is often seen responding to Chinese characters at the bottom of the screen, which seem to be a transcription of what the webcam chatter is saying. We go back to the frat boy, who is talking about his doubts about the logic of the hazing process. Then, back to RuMi talking about how her roommate is often gone. We hear another knock at the door and the mysterious voice saying "don't go." The video ends with RuMi opening the door and a flash of the words "Neon Haze Rot." Screencaps of the Greek letters in the video, taken by chixor1, are translated by catherwood-offline, but no clear message is ever derived. Whalewashingdolphin translates the Chinese—the only terribly important thing seems to be the repetition of "don't go." The final flash of "neon haze rot" is finally translated to be an anagram for "The Nora Zone" which I will explain later.

Further investigation uncovers the BristelGoodman website, updated by Eddie, who claims that he is getting the videos as boxes on this doorstep and he hopes that by putting the videos online, he will eventually find someone who knows one of the people in the videos so that they can be warned before anyone else gets hurt. There is also some confusion, as Eddie claims to have enlisted the help of a friend to pass along the e-mail addresses, because the (unknown) owner of the bristelgoodman site could have access to eddie's e-mail. Apparently this friend cannot be trusted. The friend's e-mail is through a domain called pop57.com

Burpiemcghee links to a page at Netthreats.org, which gives information on the BristelGoodman videos, stating that the people at NetThreats are not sure if the videos represent a hoax or an actual threat.

An e-mail is then sent out to those who have contacted Eddie, containing a link to another short video. Shortly after, the bristelgoodman site is taken down, then redesigned. The same numbers from the earlier number sequence appear on the website. This short video, "thyanatomic," flashes between a woman staring into a camera and a set of hands doing coin tricks as a chat between Thyanatomic and ChanceTheories appears on the screen. The chat often seems to be nonsensical. Both a man and a woman in the video talk about "being cool" and how "it has to be a star.". Then, another short video, called "astutebriefclue" (which anagrams to "a beautiful secret" is posted. It begins with the text "Merry Christmas Mom and Dad" and shows a winter scene of people ice skating. "Jingle Bells" is heard as a woman smiles into the camera. The picture goes photonegative, and then the image shakes and the video ends. For the record, this is the point where I came into the game, so events before this point are a little vague. Netthreats posts that they have information that BG is being investigated on a federal level, and "not by the agencies one would normally imagine." Netthreats later tips us off that the string of numbers from the first video could be connected to the practice of "number stations" in which strings of numbers would be read over the radio to be deciphered by the holder of a "one-time pad." They also claim that the sign language letters spell "Bristel Goodman" and that the Greek characters relate to numbers (35. 72, 67. 96, 13. 84, 15).

On January 21, the BristelGoodman site disappears and is replaced with a countdown to January 23. "astutebriefclue" shows up on pop57, as does a draft of the timeline previously found on the BG site. The countdown simply resets on January 23. Finally, a longer version of thyanatomic is posted, called thirdvideo. We get a chat between SkinDeepest and Prync3ss_21 about their hatred for some woman. The video starts where the second video left off. RuMi answers the door to let in her very drunk roommate. She comes back to the camera and giggles about her roomate's partying. We see hands doing card tricks. A girl on an exercise bike talks on a cell phone about someone not being that beautiful. RuMi starts to talk about someone (her roommate?) asking to borrow money and again seems to be responding to Chinese characters on the screen. The video from there on is the thyanatomic video" then RuMi's roommate coming to look for her. She comes into the room to stare into the camera. She turns, screams, and the video ends. Netthreats mentions that a code in the video looks like a base64 code, and Burpiemcghee rots and base64s and gets a phone number. It's a morse code message which Brittany translates to "Service horrible. Redirected twice. First rep sounded like mud, but redder."

After this, something fairly odd happens. A poster using a name in binary (which I cannot translate) posts a code which translates to "ironwheat myspace." Pictures and messages at this myspace site seem to decode to song lyrics from a band, which gets everyone thinking this might be bizarre viral marketing. Esteed has a conversation with RhinoJock27 in which Rhino refuses to give up more information. An update to Ironwheat's myspace contains a code which plaino and others manage to translate using Caesar cipher into " I LOVE TOYING WITH YOU LITTLE PUPPETS. ED HAS THE ANSWERS BUT HE DOESNT KNOW IT YET. THERE IS NO ????????? AND THERE IS NO ??? ONLY WHAT I WISH." DaisyBloom idenitifies a picture on ironwheat's myspace as coming from the blog of an unconnected friend. The picture is then taken down.

Eddie denies chatting with anyone (out of nowhere IMO) and good old netthreats figures out the morse code—"like mud but redder" is "blood" and blood.redirectme.net takes you to a site where you can download "hotwebcamgirl.jpg." However, the file is not a jpg. If you rename it to a .rar, you get an mp3 of the song "White Room" and a text document with the code

Posters (notable whalewashingdolphin) start base64 and rot-ing and using the rail fence cipher to come up with "p urity ionncc,neeS ov e.Rei,gntys rruee,dnrco ward,ice dta,eh reb ir thenevest,worem,at rla owhal e." We get distracted with the words we find in there, fixating on "seven more"

And then, a fourth video! It begins with strange symbols and a man, possibly the frat boy from video two, talking about driving down the highway with a friend. Both are on coke. They get pulled over and are afraid of getting busted for possession. A chemical symbol flashes across the screen as the man starts to describe his friend pulling out a gun. The story is occasionally broken with a graphic-novel style of illustration of what's going on. The police officer ends up letting the guy and his friend go. "truly/26otay" flashes across the screen as the guy denies using steroids. Greek characters flash across the screen and the video ends. Akirra deciphers part of the video and says "I tried to translate the greek but the only word I could get was the first one, POSO which means "amount or sum". The greek letters after he talks about working out seem to spell "steroid" but there's an extra E and H ? and finally the C18 H22 O2 is the formula for a steroid called Trenbolone Acetate. Hope this can help... I'm still lost!" At the same time, ronwheat's myspace changes to a picture of a man.

Mindg4m3 base64s, railfences, and does an offset of one and solves the code from the rar file! It is "Purity, innocence, sovereignty, surrender, cowardice, death, rebirth, even West or metal or a whale." Tipsila connects most of the words back to the history of the band Cream.

Eddie posts on his site "been anothr delivry, video almost didnt post t. these people don't exist non of you do." Ranman finds wayisnoway's myspace—it is Rhino (and, for what it's worth, wayisnoway is the username that posted the first few videos to various sites.) He has one friend- Nora White, who is the girl from the first video. The url for her site is "thenorazone" which is an anagram of "neon rot haze." Nora White is an anagram for "ironwheat." Comments on rhino's page posted by Nora are some of the same phrases said by Ironwheat in the first video. Ironwhat's myspace is back to being female and akirra notices that the song there is hosted by pop57.

Sorry for the length of this post, but quite alot has happend.

Various conversations have been had with rhinojock27 on AIM. These can be found in the appropriate thread here:

However rhinojock continually blocked whoever tried to talk with him, some people were given information pointing towards greek refrences, and hamlet, although for the most these refrences were vague.

jabroni started having convosations with Eddie (wayisnoway on AIM) on 4th May, and recieved an email via willselfdestruct from Eddie saying there was something on the out of game wiki:

Almost as soon as we started to discuss once more his involvement in all of this, he proclaimed himself to be the 'seed' that wrote on the out of game wiki.
He did this by making a variety of posts on the Out of game wiki, informing us that the game was over.

However, what we couldnt understand is why a PM would end a game in a fan created wiki...he also told us the alleged second redirectme location.

On May 8th jabroni recieved another email from Eddie - this time from his actual email adress, in response to their email asking about the clues and how it relates now the game is over:
