 [SPEC] Bill & Jen
Say what?

It seems like the conversation will be pieced together as each day goes by. Until then, there's always room for speculation.

Man 2: "I agree. This isn't going to be a public resource. Uhh, pass on the document number so I can delete it."

Bill: "So where does that put us in terms of the numbers then?"

Man 1: "There's no way to tell yet. Jen's looking into the records to see how many closed sites there are, but as for active clean-up, somewhere around 3-4,000.

Jen: "Roughly."

Man 1: "Here it is, uh, hold on, 402-K-07-002, and in terms of numbers, most of these are past the PPE Stage."

Jen: "And out of that 4000 or so we are expecting to close shop on the bulk by the end of the month."

Man 2: "With a few exceptions: Sites 34, Sites 4, 107, and 37. For some reason the center usually goes in before we do, that's been my experience.

Man 1: By the time we have the site clean, they move on to more pressing needs. After all, we've had some extremely unpredictable seasons lately.

Man 2: Okay, great. Bye Bill

Man 1: Thanks.

Re: [PUZZLE] Bill
Say what?

I think in order to fully understand the conversation between Guy #1 (nickname: Ted) and Guy #2 (nickname: Jack) , we need to figure out what Guy #3 (Bill) is saying. If we start hypothesizing on what Bill is saying, we can fill it in (perhaps with our own voices) to complete the entire conversation.

Here's the full Transcript:

Man 1: "There's no way to tell yet. Jim's looking into the records to see how many closed sites there are, but as for active clean-up, somewhere around 3-4,000. Here it is, uh, hold on, 402-K-07-002, and in terms of numbers, most of these are past the PPE Stage."

Bill dialogue 2: So we're first on scene to clean everything up?

Man 2: "With a few exceptions: Sites 34, 107, and 37. For some reason the center usually goes in before we do. By the time we have the site clean, they move on to more pressing needs. After all, we've had some extremely unpredictable seasons lately.

Man 1: No need Their rep is available to us any time we need her

Bill dialogue 4: Is there anything that we could need the rep for?

Bill dialogue 5: Then let's start working on disposing of the evidence.

Man 1: We're working on it. FOr the moment we're simply hiding the data behind a false menu item

Bill dialogue 6: That's good, you have my full support.

Not quite sure but isn't there a Bill Dialogue at the very beginning of the first call, before Man 1 says "...isn't necessary." If there isn't an actual pause in the recording, I still think we can assume that Bill has said something to start off the conversation at that point, and we should also attempt to fill something in there for Bill. It may be the most important part: It sets the subject for the rest of the conversation. What is the document that they're talking about?

CookTrain has some good ideas. I might change the first noted Bill Dialogue to "How much left is there to clean up?" Or something to that effect.

Well, the sites aren't actual websites, due to their differences, maybe these numbers are useful in some other way, its possible its something like a pass code, all of these numbers combined or in some other fashion.

If those Bill dialogs are your doing, good job... whoever did them; dialog 6 could be a bit sketchy, Man 1's dialog is too oped to pinpoint what he might have said.

Also, even though Bill may not be heard, that might not mean he's talking to them through the phone that were getting the recording from, but he might be blocked out for some reason, otherwise why would there be two participants? Weather or not you get what I'm saying you still have to wonder why the archive split it into two parts.

It's possible that the conversation could have been 50 seconds longer before and we are coming in at the middle section on the first recording. Perhaps we'll get the first 1/3 tomorrow.

Maybe the "... isn't necessary." intro is in retort to something drastic such as the... shall we say unlawful removal of a person who found out too much. Either that, or some sort of public announcement "Shall I have a press release drawn up explaining the flood damage" etc.

The latter is the better of those two, because Man 2 then says "This isn't going to be a public resource."

It definitely sounds like they're hiding something. From the "public" that is. Man 2 doesn't seem to hold the public in a high regard, like he thinks they're stupid for not seeing their "master plan", something which 'evil geniuses' often tend to think. We should try and work that theme into what Bill is saying. He seems to be the big cheese.

ooo Bill Gates Smile nice spec, but doubtful Razz

as for "isn't necessary", I'm still not convinced it's "isn't"... I could be wrong, but it would take quite some slurring to blend the two words together and still say "isn't". *shrug* But I haven't yet attempted to come up with a phrase that works with "...is necessary, and neither is..."

I don't know. They never refer to him as "sir" or even some hint of respect. They also call him by his first name to his face and complement him at the end by saying "Ok, great. Bye, Bill". I don't think we should assume he is or isn't the boss, because it might limit us from using other possible dialogue.

I'm glad someone got a laugh out of my little joke. But seriously, I think that what we have now is pretty inconclusive, and probably isn't really a puzzle. It doesn't sound like there's anything played backwards (backmasking) and we can make anything out from the silence. What I'm more interested in is what this "hidden menu" and site4, 34, etc is.
