Okay, I think we should sufficently nix the Voltron/lion theories. He says "It's alive." Also, I don't even think Paramount has the rights to Voltron.

The cups at the bottom of the Slusho page are interestingly and assymetrically arranged. I wonder if they're important.

This is obviously retroactive, but about the observations it's hiding in plain site - that could be cleared up.

slusho guy is the one with Rob in pic#2 and he's feeding Rob a drink. I can totally see this now that it's cleared up that guy has on a slusho shirt. I had to zoom in a few times and really look but I could see that the guy is wearing two shirts and one had a blue logo.

Couldn't see this in the trailers but then we get this new link to a high quality trailer (planted?) and high res and from that we can figure out who is in the pic 2....and find the guy in two shirts with the blue logo...and find the slusho clue.

Like I said, I can totally see it in hindsight how it could've been planted as a clue on who to pay attention to...Rob, slusho guy and distressed chick.....guy in white/pink shirt....they're all in the main shot of pic 2.

BUT

Let me point this to ya again please...and look...

When they're all going outside and about the same time whoever is saying it's alive, huge....look at the guy running out in front of Rob, which would be the above guy in pic 2 wearing the white/pink shirt. There are white circles on his shirt, in a couple places. I took pics of it, should be on page 45 to check out. I dont' think that's reflection from a camera lens. this is on the guy's shirt.

Any ideas?

First post. :3

Yay! I'm anemia at the livejournal community 011808 if any of you frequent there.

My husband and I have thought that maybe the guy says, "I saw it in the light, it's huge!" but we could be wrong. It seems the harder you try to listen to what he says, the harder it is to decipher. :[ Anyway, it could be nothing, but I agree it's definitely not lion. (Hah, watch us all be wrong?)

Anyway, this is so exciting! I've never been apart of an ARG or whatever and it's seriously addicting. I've been watching this thread since like, page 11 or so. *bounces* I also think it's cute that the emoticons are the same as the ones from Gaia... but that's completely OT.

Slusho page

I'll bite...I just lived in Japan for two years. The Engrish on the Slusho page is waaaay overdone - I've saw some bizarre examples in Japan, but this page is more like an English-speaker trying to sound silly than a Japanese person trying to express themselves in English. I can read some of the Japanese and it is at least approximately correct, and by coincidence I have a native-speaker friend about to visit tonight. I'll ask her if there are any double meanings or anything funny that would be missed by someone who doesn't speak it as well. Any other Japanese questions, post them up and I'll have them answered (if no other Japanese speaker shows up here in the meantime)

In case there was any doubt, there is no drink called Slusho in Japan.

Noriko and Yoshida are both common Japanese names. I'll ask if that or Ryouta Yoshida have any special meaning, or if the Kanji letters have anything to do with monsters or the ocean or whatever.

Damn that music is annoying.

Slusho

I just borrowed my sister's Alias DVD and filtered through the Slusho episode. Nothing important really. The drink is clearly has a different identity and a different logo. Beyond the name, not even remotely the same thing.

Anyone looked into the assortment of cups on the slusho page. I'm in a weird mental state right now, and I'm thinking some sort of I-Ching binary based on empty and full cups, but I'm just crazy.

^What I'm talking about, for reference.

AceofHearts ask your friend about the name "Ganu" that seems odd.

The slusho guy does seem way obvious now. So the site leads to the photos. The site and the photos lead to slusho and an email address...what's next?

The circles on the shirt almost look like tie die to me.

Does seem like something is coming from the sea and SOL was the first stop. Odd thing though is that if it is coming from Japan how'd it get into the Atlantic. Is there a Slusho research vessel out there somewhere?

I've had a life-long love affair with Japanese culture and despite not speaking the language well at all, I have to agree with this as that was my first reaction when I checked out the ?Slusho site. I've seen a lot of Engrish in video game manuals, bad translations, ads, etc, etc, and that Slusho website seems very much like a native speaker of English trying to fake Engrish.

The Stuff

After looking at the Slusho site I couldn't help but remember this little 80's straight to video gem:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090094/

"Weird yummy goo erupts from the earth and is discovered by a couple of miners. They taste it and decide to market it because it tastes so good. The American public literally eats up the new dessert sensation now known as the Stuff but, unfortunately, it takes over the brains of those who eat it, turning them into zombie-like creatures."

Ah, Garrett Morris, where are you now?

Well obviously they aren't actual donuts....think donut SHAPE jeez.

As for tie die, I wondered that so went back through to find the guy elsewhere and see if they were there and nope....

Also, it's pretty clear from this version of the trailer that the SOL head is being thrown at the building....something already ripped the head off and brought it ashore or wherever it was, and threw it....the explosion changed the trajectory and sent it careening down the street.

Lastly so far, there seem to be a lot of Asian elements shown during the party, this for example, last pic but there is some on th fridge, some in other areas even....

I just e-mailed the who-is contact (sk7087SPLATgmail.com), which seems to be the same "person" that's at satoshiSPLATslusho.jp. There was no auto-response, so I'm hopeful for a reply.

What I know about Lovecraft

This Slusho description makes me think of Lovecraft's "Shadow Over Innsmouth". People worshipped Dagon and became aquatic fish creatures called deep ones. They Worshipped father Dagon and Mother Hydra who were both Ruled by Cthulhu.

August Derleth extended Lovecraft's Mythos into describing Cthulhu as the God of Water, because he is imprisoned underwater (Triton is also the god of water)

It also reminds me of the movie "The Stuff", where they find this ice-cream-like stuff bubbling out of the ground and decide to sell it, it is highly addictive and alive, moving around like the blob and pushing it's way out of peoples bodies.

Unfortunatly, the Slusho site refers to people as fish turning into whales so it might not be as sinister as turning people into fish monsters if people are called fish already.

the jumbled words at the bottom of the screen near the end, I believe it is just a jumble of "FROM PRODUCER JJ ABRAMS." It flickers near the bottom, with sections fuzzed out. It's meant to be unsettling, but I don't think there is a hidden message there.

Good find on the slusho site, that is a definite lead and I'm sure it will keep us busy for a while. Jeffrey Wells has been saying that the movie is about a monster from the sea that destroys new york (he got a small quote from JJ about the flick), so the slusho sea mythos probably has some leads as to the nature of the monster.
