Well, awesome find on the sign. It does look almost identical to the sticker. Now we have a quite random link to a New Orleans Jazz Festival.

We looked into AKM earlier, and I don't think I found any real-life counterpart, but you're lucky to give it another shot.

Could be that we're just getting confirmation that Rob's relatively well-traveled. Not sure - at this point it's all spec, right?

Are you saying that there was no AKM group or just no obvious linkage between an AKM group and anything we've found to this point?

edit edit: just noticed, you highlight one of the fish, it displays a thought bubble with Cheese in it....strange?

So there's this and the donkey producing the oven mitt as pointed out above. And what's all this about "Slusho Zoom" that some of the animals and people say? I tried the obvious zooming in and didn't come up with anything.

Other thing about the site: the layout is strange, with a "home" page and secondary page that have mostly the same options in Japanese versus English.

On the page with Japanese, the options are (left to right):

Product Introduction (instead of "history", which is on the other page, but they go to the same place)
Menu (Flavor/s)
Download
Customer feedback
Shop
Distribution Companies (instead of "happy talk" from the home page, neither of which lead anywhere)

AlphaKappamu.org is for an existant honors society, with no links to the film. Also, the real life AKM's colors are blue and white, yet the paddle is red and gold. It seemed like a dead end to me.

It looks that way. According to the society's site, there aren't any AKM chapters in or around New York City, so we at least know that Rob went away to college. There is one in New Orleans, and a couple others relatively nearby, though.

I'm a New Orleans native...I can't think of anything off the top of my head that could link Jazz Fest to 1-18-08. It seems very random that there's a copy of a sign reading "exit to Mystery St."

Mystery Street's in Mid-City. Big, old neighborhood area. Lots of history. No links to anything that I can think of.

The website for Jazz Fest, just in case...

http://www.nojazzfest.com/

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps sticker versions of the exit to Mystery St sign are sold as keepsake items, and this is just a random decoration with no significance.

...BTW, my first post. I've played around a little with the original Lost ARGs and such, but I've never been as fascinated by an ARG as the trailer left me fascinated with this one. Very Happy

EDIT IN - added one more pic from slusho site - what's the numeral 6 for before the japanese text?

It's a translation of "You can't drink just six", literally "six drinks only is not sufficient".

Ugh, this is really racking my brain...Swiss Cheese, Blue Mitten, Exit Mystery Street GAH >_<. Perhaps just a random decoration, but "we're not looking hard enough" apparently...

I feel aimless in directon. Whois's? Email addresses? Hell, phone numbers? They all seem to be already covered...there has to be some link...

OK...someone mentioned that we might want to look at what Abrams said to Harry Knowles...he capitalized three words ASS THAT FOUND... so silly me, I decided to try and find some anagrams for those words... I am still working on it, but I do know that "donut" or "donuts" can be made with those words...didn't someone say they saw donuts at the filming site for the "slusho" movie?? Just a probably wild goose....but who knows

I wanted to clarify the validity of the link and article so I sent an email to harry knowles and just asked if this is legit or could he verify it somehow, and a couple other things and about half an hour later he did reply and he did confirm that he's been interviewing Abrams for 9 years, knows him, and yes the email from Abrams to him is legit.

So in that case the Ethan Haas link is confirmed unrelated by the horse's mouth ;-p

And that he's got other stuff out there for us but we've only found 1-18-08.

I think this confirmation should qualify this one to go in the potentials category.

Anyway, I doubt that either of them realized the slusho find on here earlier tonight, and I'd imagine it's related since there's no real good reason to create a website for a fictional drink in May (2 months ago) and the plug it on a tshirt in the trailer....so it would make it in game and that implies this is a game....or at best lots of fun stuff Abrams put out there for us to find....

Well, I was suprised to learn that my google search for "Blue Oven Mitt + Horse" yielded nothing. Who'd've thunk?

Seriously, we need a breakthrough.

*EDIT*
I'm gonna start combing through the history on Slusho. Perhaps there's some kind of encoded message. Unlikely, but I'd do anything for some info.

Well, those words descramble to "has fat donuts", among other odd things.

Maybe there's a reference to the white rings seen on the shirt in the trailer?

Giant Rat?

Quote:

Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can't wait to talk to you more about it -- of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you'll know more than I will.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Is it just me or do normally people say "rat's ass?" I was bored and just decided to google "giant rat"

All-Consuming Fire, a 1994 Doctor Who novel by Andy Lane, part of the New Adventures series; in this story, the Doctor joins forces with Holmes and Watson to confront Azathoth, an entity from H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The giant rat is portrayed as an alien monster. (ISBN 0-426-20415-Cool

It's a far fetched idea... but then again... everyone is looking for a lead.
