It seems fairly obvious from the get go that whoever rents this apartment is a bit of a japanophile, and it isn't a big jump to suggest that his/her friends might be also. So without further ado, here are some things I found (mind you, not all of the things I bring up here are Japan related):

At :35 seconds in, you should have a pretty clear shot of Rob (at about the time he is agreeing that he is the cameramans "main dude") and you should also be able to see the fridge pretty well. There are a couple of things on the fridge that are interesting to me. First, and please, if someone knows anything about any of the things I mention here being established properties (meaning they are just their for atmosphere and detail, and not as clues) feel free to just shoot me down, on the left on the fridge, on the door, there is a piece of tape or something with magic marker type font and it appears to me to read "EXIT MYSTERY ST." There is another piece of tape (or whatever) near the top on the side of the fridge, that only comes into view when the shot is almost over, and Rob has almost left the frame. I don't know what it means, if anything, but there it is.


The sticker on the top of the fridge is the same as the one on the side, if you look closely. I noticed that earlier, there's a good screen cap posted earlier that clearly shows it to be the same.

As far as the "2004 Ace" on the side of the building: i truly believe it actually reads "2007 Ace" for a few reasons.

1. Silly as it sounds, this is the year 2007, the trailer was made now, it just makes sense, etc.

2. We KNOW this video was altered in post-production if it indeed was shot using a hand-held camcorder which I believe everyone agrees it has been. The explosion/Statue of Liberty head, etc all point to this on top of ILM being confirmed(?) to be involved in the project. It could be anything from an artists way of digitally signing his work to another cleverly hidden clue. (I believe nightowl was the one who pointed out in one 'o his videos that the 2004 could be 2007, just to try to credit.)

3. Whatever it is, I believe we were meant to see it: the fact that it's only illuminated for a brief flicker means only someone who was looking would see it. This ties into #2.

I think someone did confirm one of the two girls in the first photo as being Lizzie Caplan for sure.

For what it's worth, i'd have to re-watch it, but everytime I watched it (including in the theaters) i swear you can see the head kind of boomerang into frame from VERY far away - add to this the fact the a crew member ACTUALLY working on the film said just the FOOT of the beast destroys the tower in the distance and we have a VERY large "thing" laying waste to New York - something large enough to easily through the head froma distance and smash the spikes on the crown in by grasping with it's hand. I may be spitballing, but this all lines up IF the crew member report was authentic, which I believe it was.


[EDIT] OOOOH! Just remembered figuring this out earlier while catching up on posts.

As to the girl on the right in the second photo - I, like most, think this is one of the girls from photo 1 and the trailer. If you pay attention, their attire is similar - off-the-shoulder black dresses/tops. No girl can be seen wearing a jersey - not that i've seen in the trailer at least. So, i thought about this, and realized, if you look at the girl, her right shoulde ris facing you, and she's LEANING IN to get into the picture - that's why she's making the face - for the camera! You can even see the tiny black strap right below here chin following her shoulder line - this makes too much sense. This also means that the "9" was definitely photoshopped in, as we already know that the photo was blurred as a whole and the Slusho logo on the leftmost guy's shirt was blurred, it seems, even more. This may not be the breakthrough i think it is, but it's almost 5.30 am here and i've given up on sleep tonight. This may also be related to the 'donuts' that i believe tinag discovered.

 		Okay, I just doublechecked with the Streetview option on GoogleMaps and found the "401 Broadway" sign at the corner of Broadway and Canal, which would be in Soho. Judging by the distance from the building that the trailer was shot from, I'd put them closer to Howard St, a block north, and still on Broadway. Looks like I have a solid destination for the first leg of my trip today. Should I bother bringing my laptop with me so that I can update with photos and get more info from you folks while I'm out or do you think that would be a waste of energy in this stinking humidity?

So, i was looking through the urchin javascript to see if i'd catch anything...


I found a few interesting dates, that jumped out at me... Not sure if they are of use...

I see this date thrown around a lot throughout the javascript... Was just an odd date...

1/18/38 exactly 30 years from the release date...

 		One more note before I head into the shower and get ready for my clue-hunting trek today.

Regarding the "2004 ACE" graffiti located at 1:12 in the trailer. ACE is a popular tagger in NY and I've seen his tags in several places around the area. I didn't give a second thought when I first noticed the tag at 1:12 because I'm so used to seeing things like that on street level, let alone up on roofs, so I truly honestly believe that THE "2004 ACE" MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It would be like seeing any of the other countless tags around the city. Just before the ACE tag, I noticed "CRAZE" in big letters on the wall near it. You know what? Those probably mean nothing as well. The ACE tag was just focused on to show the destruction of the building in the background getting hit with that giant hunk of flaming debris. It wasn't intentional and should not be dwelled on. It's just a tag.

The prominent temperature reading might belong to the interface of the news program, could someone who lives in the NY area and gets NY1 broadcast perhaps confirm?
To me it seems odd, both for a news program and for a feature film, to demonstratively point out an unusually high temperature for no reason, which makes it seem more probable that they show the temperature in a newscast about a possible earthquake because it's a part of the ongoing newstory. Meaning the unusually high temperature is significant and somehow related to whats happening.

I kinda feel the same way about the demon between the girls hair, btw: Sure, its probably an optical illusion and we read far to much into it. But then again: its jj abrams we're talking about here, these guys know what they're doing, and they know thousands of people will nitpick what little information they hand out for clues - there's no way they missed that demon. This is not a random picture, its carefully picked out. And with that in mind, is it even possible that the optical illusion is not somehow significant?

A third tidbit that falls into the same category is the 12.01A and 12.36A on the 1-18-08.com-page. The fact that they both seem to be missing an M can't really be coincidental, since this is not real life. Someone thought about it and decide to do it.
So what does it mean?

I live in Brooklyn. NY1 always looks like that. "News All Night" begins at 12:30 each night and runs all the time. NY1 is basically an all-day news channel here. Also, the weather here has been freaking crazy lately and very humid. 63 degrees a week ago and around 80 last night. It's killin' me without any AC.. But, yeah, that little box in the bottom left is always there during the news. The time/temp could very well be important, but they're always there.

 		I know this has already been mentioned but to me there's definitely something moving in the distance just after 'It's alive! It's huge!'

If you check the HD trailer and pause around 1:24 move back and forth slowly between 1:24 and 1:26 and you can see something large moving at the end of the street. Someone said it's possible that it could be smoke but to me it moves in a way that would make it highly unlikely it would be smoke.

To me it looks to bend inwards, almost like we're seeing a leg bent at the knee (For example, how a T-Rex would walk, I'm not saying it is a T-Rex because it's too large but I'm just using it's legs as an example).

I'm probably wrong but I'm adamant it's not smoke. If this were correct then it's actually throwing the SOL head behind itself.

Anyway, great work you're doing here guys. I'm finding all this discussion highly enjoyable.

 		The Number 9...
I don't think there is a number 9, atleast, not a photoshopped thing.

I believe it's like the face in the hair, once you see it, you can't unsee it.

For my two cents, I believe, yeah, it looks like a 9, but is probably just weird coincidence with the flash of the camera, even allowing that the photo is almost certainly shopp'd in some fashion, I just don't see it as significant. Look at the lines of the bricks, the "9" in question follows the mortar. I don't think there's anything there. Also, until I see something credible confirming the stuff from the alleged actor in the film, I won't go down any roads that start from what he says.

@ benthic -
The tower...could it maybe be on the corner of Leonard and Broadway? I did a search with maps.live. Not living in New York myself (and for whatever reason my computer isn't letting me go 3d on the sucker right now) I don't know much to look for. But I did notice that at roughly 1:30 in the trailer, you can make out on the right a subway entrance, and it seems to be marked N R. Now, I don't live anywhere where there is a subway, so I can't make any calls as to what that designation means, but I do know that if you go down the street a little from Leonard and Broadway, (following Broadway) and get to what should be just past 401, you find a subway entrance similarly marked.

Alright, not that spicy a lead then Smile, but nevertheless: the makers of the film has made it 63 degrees in january, and made sure we'd notice.


On a different note: the link I had to the second trailer, with the two monoliths hitting a car, has been removed. Typing this is, I realise we havent talked about that trailer at all here, and suddenly Im not even sure its been mentioned.
Does anyone know where I can find it, or where it originated?

 		My plans are already falling apart. Upon closer inspection of the buildings in front of the building bearing the "401 Broadway" sign (which is the first thing struck by Lady Liberty's head) and comparing it to GoogleMap's view of what actually resides in the area, it looks almost as if they composited two areas into one.

The surrounding buildings don't match up. The video has several buildings in front of 401 Broadway, while the actual location, although possibly dated because of the date the drive-by photos were taken, hav no such buildings. It's actually more of a big blank space in front of 401, which supports my claim that they superimposed another group of buildings in front of it. Yes, I've tried going around from the opposite direction, but no such luck.

I think my trekking schemes were quelled before I even left the house.. Oh well. I think my best bet, to all those interesed, is to exit the subways at the Canal Street exit, which puts me right near the location. A little wandering and adjusting possible camera angles with my fingers in a box shape should make me feel foolish enough. Thanks to those assisting, as well, because I'd love to find out as much as I can before I head out in this weather. (90 degrees and heavy humidity).

And even if all of this turns out to be a bust, at least I can head over a couple blocks to ToyTokyo and grab some PXC cards and ARG chat with one of the guys there. He'll be interested in all of this, for sure.

 		Has anyone searched for websites based on times? The times of the pictures, minutes before, etc? That seems like the best clue we have right now aside from the slurpo thing.

I found one earleir which had very similar page source to 1-18-08.com, but i don't remember what it was :/ 1201am.com or something similar i think.

in any case, we need a breakthrough here.
