6 fingers

So, what do we make of the 6 fingers. We were doing some brainstorming in #unfiction and came up with the following...

1) 6 fingers are a dominant trait

2) it used to be assumed that people with 6 fingers were witches

3) it's called hexadactyly

4) 6 was sacred to the Babylonians

5) from The Origin of Demons "When fallen angels shape-shift into a from of human being they may have intercourse but not without some aberrant genetic changes. The union of these beasts with humans produced children that were different in many ways. The first apparent difference was that they developed giantism. They were male giants or Nephilim. Og the King of Bashan had a bed that was 13 to 15 feet long; and Goliath was 6 cubits tall (9 feet). The second aberration was that they had six fingers and six toes. If a being is reported to be six cubits tall, have six toes, and six fingers, is that the mark of the beast (666)?"

what else do we know about 6 fingered hands?

Brooke

Oh, and wb wisely mentioned that we should probably be prepared for some base 12 puzzles.

dig·i·tal·is ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dj-tls)
n.
A plant of the genus Digitalis, which includes the foxgloves.
A drug prepared from the seeds and dried leaves of this plant, used in medicine as a cardiac stimulant.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Latin digitlis, of a finger (from the finger-shaped corollas of foxglove), from digitus, finger. See digit.]
Word History: The name of the plant genus Digitalis, whose member the foxglove provides an important drug used to treat heart disease, is associated with another part of the body, the finger. In Digitalis, which comes from the Latin word digitlis, meaning "relating to a finger," we recognize digit, which derives from Latin digitus, "finger, toe." In Modern Latin the genus name was chosen because the German name for the foxglove is Fingerhut, "thimble," or literally "finger hat." The second part of our word foxglove also refers to the similarity of the foxglove blossoms to the fingers of a glove. Digitalis is first recorded in English in a work published in 1664.

In the old days, the taking of digitalis was monitored by changes in vision. You took so much that your vision became blurry, and then you backed down the dose a tad. That was considered a "therapeutic dose."

What did the vision look like? We think that Van Gogh's "Starry Night" was a picture that represents digitalis/digitoxin toxicity.

Does this have anything to do with CTW? I doubt it. I think that the word was just a cute way of pointing us to the extra finger.
