 Extreme Puzzling 2
Community Version

Over the past couple of days the Mods/Admins of the various community forums for Perplex City have been discussing a fan based version of a few months agos Extreme Puzzling Contest. Below I have posted the basic guidelines (courtesy of Rotek from WLP).

Rotek on WLP wrote:
Hi everybody. Right, where to begin?

Some of you might remember, or at least heard of, the Extreme Puzzling Contest, which was held towards the end of last year. The Sentinel published an article in which a Perplex City resident was fined for base jumping off Acendency Point (you can read the article here). Mind Candy set the challenge to players to document this here on Earth by creating their own extreme puzzles. You can find some of these entries on the Wiki and this Perplexorum thread.

Anyway, an 'unofficial' community version is making a comeback over the summer. It's going to work in a similar way to last time, but with a few changes.

Firstly, the prizes. As this is a community project, we essentially want to have a collection of prizes from you guys. Anything you could spare would be great: PXC cards (s1 or s2), binders, posters, starter packs etc. as well as non-PXC stuff like Firebox.com vouchers, CDs and anything else. 'Homemade' stuff will be accepted too: printed t-shirts, mugs ANYTHING!!! The more we have, the more fun this whole thing will turn out. The prize pool will be split three ways for first, second and third places.

If you want to contribute whatever you'd like to the prize pile, just P.M me and I'll get back to you. EDIT: Please PM Me not Rotek if you have a prize

Secondly, judging. Before, Mind Candy had the say in who came in the podium positions in the contest. This time, the entire community will have a vote.

Deadlines are yet to be set, but that's no excuse not to be getting some ideas in your head! Take a look at the links above to see the kind of thing that we're after: large scale versions of cards, playing chess while on a rollercoaster, anything. As long as it's not illegal, of course The more original the better. Single work as well as work with groups (no size limit) will be accepted. Rope your non-PXC playing friends into it too!

You can enter photos, videos, websites and anything else you can think of. Hopefully we'll have a place to compile them all soonish too.

Use this thread to discuss, throw ideas about comment on other peoples work, ask questions etc., and expect updates SOON as to how to get submissions to us, deadlines and other such information.

Most of all: HAVE FUN!!!

Just a few comments, there MAY be more than just 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize depending on the number of prizes we end up with. Also I am acting as the UF representative for this contest so PM ME if you have any prizes you wish to donate, I will be away from next monday for just over 2 weeks so if I don't reply I'm not ignoring you, just not here Razz

If you have any questions either PM me or post here Smile

Submissions are now open for this, they need to be mailed to epc.subs[at]googlemail[dot]com and for full description of the prizes so far, details of what's required see the welovepuzzles forum here

Note that video submissions should be uploaded to Youtube and a link sent. Photo submissions to Flickr and linked in the e-mail too.

Have fun - but don't break any laws or yourselves. It's entirely your own fault if you do Wink
