No, there was music on all the pages, as best I recall.

I'm using Firefox and I'm not getting music.

Can you put those translations to the english tabs in a table on the wordpress page? Maybe one too for the exclamation emphasis on the words - might be easier for the brain to process looking left to right rather than up to down and back up.

Which leads me to another one...

Brain pattern processing. So we can process ahead of time to "already" interpret what we see, which is the gist of why we over look typos and subtle things....and after 3 times seeing anything or hearing it, the pattern imprint is registered in the brain so we draw from this stored base every future time we see the same pattern, and unless it is something large, the brain economizes and usually we sail right over stuff. This very thing seems to be taking place on both sites....we notice the subtle rotation and every time we look it's interpreted as the same as it was last time....the jarring was when they move faster, this is new input for the brain....so our attention is drawn to it so we can "process" basically.

So look at it as layers of a sort - the stuff that is obvious, that you can't help see right off, and then a layer beneath it for the incidentals.

Interesting. So did the music ever not play on the Downloads page? Was it a temporary glitch? Or maybe it just depends on what browser you use. Hmmm.

It may be worth noting that the Slusho Slogan "You Can't Drink Just Six" is a play off the Lay's Potato Chip slogan "Betcha can't eat just one" which is still being used.

Let me ask the Web Gurus an HTML design question.

Why would you put an non-breaking space code (" ") on a line all by itself between two image files? Meaning that you have one image file on top, the non-breaking space code, then an image file below that.

Wouldn't you use line break codes ("<br>") to separate the images instead?

To see what I'm talking about, click on one of the downloadable desktop images, then view the source of that page.

I'll see what I can do. My "Table-Fu" is weak. Smile

K for the record, there is no music on the download page either for me.

Also, for the record, I click on the images to download and the instructions page - in the source is another urchintracker....so they're wanting to see who's there too. Why? In a meta sense, to download the images....but is there anything to them?

This is probably not important, but with ARGs, you can never be sure.

Everywhere on the site it says 'You can't drink just six' except on the history page, where it's 'Bet you can't drink just six' like, a statement, then a challenge.

That brings even more attention to the history. hm...

That doesn't sound like the Slusho history even in the slightest.

We're talking about a story of family obsession and tragedy, weird gigantic sea creatures (gods) that command people to do stuff, and humans transforming into aquatic life. That has Lovecraft written all over it. And it'd make more for a way more interesting movie than a straight run from the monster movie. I mean, if it's just one big monster the movie is going to be pretty short. It would involve getting the hell out of town and that's it.

The story seems to imply that the creature isnt commanding anyone to do anything. If anything it implies some kind of mutation, but we already know it's "just one big monster". The movie is described, as being a throwback to the old giant monster movies of the 50s and 60s, like Godzilla or Rodan.

Also, there is no indication whatsoever, either in the trailor or the Slusho story, of any sort of "gods" or people being commanded to do anything. The story has very little similarity to Lovecraft, speaking as someone who read that stuff once or twice Lovecraftian stories are usually quite misanthropic and focused on bizarre, unspeakable (and impossible to visualize) type monsters. Read "The Color out of Space" once, thats basically what most Lovecraft stories are like. The monster is some unseen, unknowable god-like monster from outer space who wants to do bad things for the sake of bad things. It's not even that good, actually, having read several of the stories i dont see where the attraction is myself.

We know from the houses mouth its "just" a monster movie. There is no indication whatsoever it's about Cthulhu at all, that was an assumption made by people who were guessing at the nature of the monster. Along with the theory it's Voltron, Godzilla and The Smoke Monster from Lost. To be frank by the description, sparse as it is, given by the studio and various movie sites and looking at the Slusho story it's most likely something like Godzilla, Gorgo, Rodan etc etc.

The Slusho story is the key here which is what i realized almost immediately after reading it. It just leaped out at me. The tone is rediculously serious in certain parts then completely absurd in others, but if you trim the retarded "shill soft drink" stuff away it tells a story about some kind of monster, mutation-causing compound, or both.

Like i said the best guess i have after looking at it is that this chick either went out there and became some giant monster, or found one, or found soem substance that makes people become giant monsters. One way or another her son brings back whatever she found to land, probably New York, and this chain of events leads to the chaos seen in the trailer.

You have a valid argument for everything except, Lovecraft was a literary visionary. I won't get into an argument over that, though, as this is not the place.

I'm thinking all this talking and screenshotting and whatnot has evolved into mental masturbation. (can i say that in that context on here?)

I think we should sit and wait for something more obvious to be made apparent, rather that expend all this energy over details that have already been scrutinized.

Just an opinion.

or you could take the term whale as a metaphor, not at face value. So Noriko is called the Littlest Whale because she drinks so much (let's say she's addicted to drinking, whether it is alcohol or any other liquid, it does mention libations though).

So in his dream a Whale comes along in his dream. It could be Noriko, or it could be another "whale". But assuming "whale" means somebody who loves to drink a lot, this character loves to drink. Ganu, being a small fish, drinks some, but not an excessive amount. Upon drinking this substance, he gets hooked. He keeps drinking it more and more, and turns into a whale, somebody who likes to drink a ton.

Using this metaphor, the substance they found deep in the ocean could be a highly addictive substance, not a mutation causing godzilla wrath causing element.

I do think that the fact that it had to be kept almost frozen means something. Well for 1 it means it's a liquid, but what else?

All just theory to help spur alternate kinds of thoughts. Hopefully some good will come out of it. You have to admit, that history story is really cryptic.

Lame duck?

So, on the downloads page you have a flock of ducks flying by, but you have one duck who is using a balloon to fly. Maybe the duck has a bad wing and can't fly? That is called a lame duck.

from wikipedia: "A lame duck, in the context of a game, is a player who remains in the game but has no chance of winning. It must be literally impossible— not merely highly improbable — for a player to win for it to constitute a lame-duck scenario. If a game frequently admits lame-duck scenarios, this is considered a severe design flaw."

Something to think about maybe...

I think "whale" is an intentionally amusing term for "became fat".

If you don't think a slumbering tentacled sea monster who's been disturbed by humans and goes on a rampage is Lovecraftian...I don't know what to tell ya. Go read The Call of Cthulhu.

as previously noted, that explains the fiery objects that fly out after the explosion.
