It took me a couple times to figure out what you were referring to - I was looking in the wrong spot and then I got what you were pointing to.

And you are absolutely right, the are different....

For the rest - the white area on the center cup - on some of them it's a little darker, while the others are white....

Hmmm

Screen shots below, hopefully they wont be huge.

I'm seeing them all are a kind of grey, even in your screenshots.

I wonder, though, why everything along the bottom of the screen pixellates as you zoom in, but the rest of the screen doesn't.

I want to point this out to everyone before I go to sleep.

That image is a raster image, apart from the rest of the site. Everything else you see is in vector, which makes it so crisp. If anything, it makes that image with the cups and "you can't just drink 6" unique. Perhaps that's to draw our attention to it? Why would someone create a very nice looking flash site, and pop a crappy low resolution ".jpg" or ".gif" image into it?

With that said, I'm off to bed. Good luck, night owls.

It wasn't this thread, I guarensheed it! I've been with this thread since creation.

Wait..wait! Not yet.

A quick question. That image is part of the flash file. What valid reason could you imagine for including one rasterised image in a flash file full of vector images?

Valid reason? The creator was too lazy to recreate that thing in flash format, so they tossed it together really fast to get the job done. Like I said though, that's a nicely put together flash site. Why would you get lazy on THAT part? I could recreate that in a little under an hour using any vector program.

That's the only reason for doing that though. If I was the boss, and that was my employee, I make them explain to me why they created it that way.

Other reasons? It's like that so you notice it's different. That's just me though.

EDIT: While I'm at it, the Japanese lettering over top of the menu titles are also raster images. If you Slusho! ZOOM (har har) in, you'll notice the pixelation around them. Now, I may be shooting into the dark but as a graphic designer, things like that make me crazy.

I typed "you can't drink just six," and got this " a toxic industry junks".
A Toxic Industry junks can also be translated as "A toxic industry's junk"!

Hmm...further unusualness.

The row of images with the cups, as we see, is rasterized. So is the Japanese version of "You Can't Just Drink Six" at the bottom of the screen.

The blue lines above and below the cup line don't seem to be. They may be too small to pixellate when you zoom in. The ends of each line do show different colors than the rest of the line, like it was kind of pixellated, but that shows up at the first level of zoom.

Oh, and the Japanese text in the middle of the cup when you mouseover the link bubbles is raster, too. I don't think the English text is, though.

Would it really take that much work to make those vector images? I'm not a graphics designer, but I have a vague idea that it wouldn't' take more than a couple minutes' worth of conversion. I could be wrong, though.

Actually, yes. I was the one who mentioned the six creatures being on site.

But thank your friend for trying to help! Glad to see it!

Check out my edit as well on that post. Good night, and good luck.

the entire bottom of the page seems rushed. the text looks all pixley and the ends of the line as you said show different coloring. we have to find the significance of this change. well you guys have to, because im gonna go to bed now and im still a noob at this stuff. so good night people.

I wonder, though, why everything along the bottom of the screen pixellates as you zoom in, but the rest of the screen doesn't. I would expect that if the bottom "strip" was an image file and the rest wasn't, but according to the source code, that's not the case. It's one big flash file.

because the cups is a bitmap image, not vector-based artwork, which doesn't distort when you resize

Okay..one last bit of minutiae before bed.

On the "History" sub-page, all the fish and the donkey blink. The fish blink twice each time. The donkey has a different pattern: once, once, twice. They're recurring patterns that don't seem to change even if you clock on them or mouseover them.

I tried the "ask a kid" approach again....asked my 8yo to look at the history page and tell me what he thought the images were, and what they were about.

He corrected me when I asked about the donkey (had to refresh cause it moved off) and said that's obviously not a donkey, it's a horse, a seahorse. And frankly it's always seemed to me to be a seahorse.

Anyway....as for why the thing is thinking of an oven mit and the fish is thinking of swiss cheese, he thought about it a minute and decided the searhorse was wishing he had the ovenmit so he could make fishsticks with cheese in the oven.

And after looking at slusho from 100 different ways, that's a good an explanation for why they put it there as any Razz

On the "sea horse" topic... I was playing around with seahorse related things... tried "water horse" in Google and got a bunch of links to a movie, but also a ton of pages on kelpies, the mythological animal. A possible lead there?
