Emails to our dear Meg

FYI: I did email Meg. I am sure others did as well, but for the record here are mine.

Quote:
Dear Meg,
Welcome to the world William Starkey!!

I just heard that you were home from the hospital. I
didn't think you would be back so soon or I would have
written sooner. Believe me I was thinking about you
all the time these past few days. Even Frank Harker
told me to not worry so much about you.

A new baby is overwhelming for anyone, don't worry.
Can you afford to hire someone to help you for a
little bit so you can rest?

Please forgive me for not writing, it doesn't mean I
don't care. If I can do anything to help you, I will
Yours,
Rose

and this morning:

Quote:
Dear Meg,
How is it going? I do think about you. Just so you
know I was able to talk to Frank Harker yesterday, and
he said he would stop in and check on you and the
baby.

I would visit you myself but I can't get to Catalina
right now. So you know you will have a grown-up
visitor, Frank is completely reliable and he will be
there when he can.

Try to cheer up. I care and so do my friends. You may
know White Knight, his email has been not working and
he hasn't been able to write you. He asked me to tell
you that so you would know why he hasn't been in
touch.

I'll write later,
Rose

This is the reply I got from Meg and it looks like Billy Bob is still growing at an increased rate...

Dear Steffeny,

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers. Virtual or real, it's the
sentiment that counts, and they mean so much to me. Just being able to
talk means a lot to me. I really don't know what I would do if I
weren'table to communicate with you and all the other nice people I've met via e-mail. Go crazy, probably.

William is breathing much better now. He's still growing, in fact he
had gained weight by the time we left the hospital while normally newborns lose weight in their first days. He is definitely an unusual baby and fairly demanding. Your prayers are much appreciated, and needed.
Things around here are going to hell in a handbasket. Thank goodness I have people to share with.

Sincerely,
Meg

Hi Meg,

Happy to hear that everything went well at the hospital. I am so glad
both you and William Robert are OK.

I wish I could afford to send you a care package but graphic icons are
the best I have at the moment. :s
Is William's breathing doing better? I hope so. I pray for you and him
every day.

Dear Thom,

Thank you so much for your sweet note. It's so nice to talk to a grownup! I feel like I've just had nothing positive to say, ever, and it's a wonder that anyone bothers to listen to me anymore. You can only hear the same song a set number of times before you become sick of it. I hope you're right about things calming down. There's certainly no indication of that happening now. The baby is still growing quickly, and quite demanding at times. On those rare occasions when he doesn't need my undivided attention, I feel like I have to do something for myself or I will explode. Left to my own devices I would sit and brood entirely too much about things. Chatting and email really help take my mind off things. I don't think I am set up for an AOL messenger account - do you happen to have Yahoo messenger? Maybe I'll be able to pop on sometime tomorrow. Right now William is starting to get restless again and I must tend to him.

Sincerely,
Meg

suggestion

For those of you corresponding with Meg, it might be a good idea to ask about the the changes in weight & height that she's noticed. If in fact the baby is growing faster than normal due to the timeline, this could help us figure out how fast the baby is growing. Height and weight are monitored quite closely during the childs first year, so it would be natural to ask about this. There are height and weight charts that doctor's use to figure out how "normal" the child is in comparison to the rest of the world. We could compare the actual growth to what the chart says in order to determine how much faster the baby is growing.

Hi I've been silently watching the game for awhile. I finally decided to participate and send meg an email.. this was her reply.

Dear Krystal,

Thank you so much for your kind note. Your encouraging words really helped to pick up my spirits. You're right, things are pretty overwhelming. I keep telling myself every day that I am stronger than my adversities, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself. Contact with other people is so important to me. I don't see very much of Jake at all. I get really excited when it's time for mail just so I can say hello to the postman. I'm having a difficult time keeping up with William's demands. Those eyes that you think are striking can also be a little eerie, especially when I'm not fast enough with whatever he needs.
We haven't been able to take a picture without having the glaring redeye. The doctor thinks it might be a form of ocular albinism.

Take care,
Meg
