The world's coldest sea is in Antarctica: <a>Lake Vostok. </a>

Not sure why this link didn't work. http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov/scienceques2001/20010921.html

Important quote from the link: Discovered just 5 years ago, it's one of the largest lakes in the world - its exact size is still not known. Cut off from the rest of Earth for at least a million years, Lake Vostok may harbor previously unknown species of microbes, having the ability to withstand conditions at the edge of survivability.

Not sure if this is useful. But still interesting.

It sounds to me like the ingredient was found in the deepest parts of the ocean, where the pressures are incredable and the temperatures are VERY cold. Because of the weight of the water on top, and the inablilty of sunlight to reach that depth, that is my guess where the ingredient was found.

NOT THAT I THINK IT MATTERS!!

sorry had to ge that out, whole lotta spec about nothing I feel.

Kyo no tore wa kore desu...

Or in other words, the special ingredient for today is...methane hydride?

Taken from http://www.trochilic.com/glossary/index.htm :

Quote:
methane hydride - A frozen lattice-like substance, huge amounts of which underlie our oceans and polar permafrost. This crystalline combination of a natural gas and water (known technically as a clathrate) looks remarkably like ice but burns when exposed to a lit match. Methane hydrate discovered only a few decades ago, with little research done on it until recently. By some estimates, the energy locked up in methane hydrate deposits is more than twice the global reserves of all conventional gas, oil, and coal deposits combined. However, no one has yet figured out how to pull out the gas inexpensively, and no one knows how much is actually recoverable.

This stuff forms in the deep ocean, under high pressure and cold temperatures. It's similar to dry ice in that it'll evaporate from solid state at room temperature, except it releases methane instead of carbon dioxide. There happen to be large deposits of it around Japan which they're currently trying to engineer a way to extract for natural gas production. And it's probably unwise to eat the stuff. It does fit the description of our mystery ingredient, at the very least it could be the inspiration for it.

Incidentally, a duck was one of the first living things to ride in a hot air balloon. http://tinyurl.com/2o5onc

Cross-posted from the other thread...

Yep...several changes.

1) There's now an animation to move you from page to page. The old page kind of swooshes away, the word Slusho moves to front and center and empties of color to white, then fills again as it moves to the top of the new screen.

2) The Japanese words along the bottom of the sub-pages now match the ones on the home page.

3) The Downloads page has changed again. Now the children don't give you the clickable finger when you mouseover them, nor do they giver their slogan thought bubbles.

EDIT:

4) The word "Home" and the Slusho cup have swapped places on the sub-pages. The word used to be first. Now the cup is.

5) The brand name and slogan now have trademark symbols.

Oddly enough, the stuff that was rasterized is still rasterized. That means they took the time to fix several graphics but didn't convert three prominent parts of the site to vector images like everything else is.

By the way,

Like i mentioned earlier, in the history it says 'bet you can't drink just one' and that's the only place it isn't trademarked.

Something else guiding us to the history?'

Slusho
Slusho has a TradeMark now as well.

Slusho now has a trademark on the opening page. Is there any way to check a trademark online?

Later

It looks like someone went to update the site and messed up. If you go directly to the history site url, you don't have the problems.

SLusho Stills From BEFORE July 12 Updates

I got screens of the pages on slusho yesterday when it was raised that it seemed the downloads page changed and there were birds.

I haven't scoured it yet because I'm too busy BANGING MY HEAD ON THE WALL I MISSED THE 1-18 PIC!!! I've been on the page all damn night and this afternoon had a bank issue I had to go clear up, come back and BAM new pic and I missed the whole thang.

I bet they waited til my IP# disappeared off their tracker and then did it on purpose just to be an ass Razz

Just kidding but it felt that way. I've been pot watching 1-18 for days and sure enough, soon as I step away from the computer, new pic.

But least they're listening.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
And guys, what I meant by throw us a bone here was one with some meat on it that we could bite into and get somewhere. sheesh. But thank you soooo much, least it broke up the monotony!

What I did notice on slusho is that they've added the TM to the logo, the cup fades in and out more when it's spinning, the slusho logo filling up with water and pausing between pages I never caught before, and the audio on/off is new.
