It has a very small budget. Monster effects will be easy to do well on the camcorders because the lesser detail quality.

New picture

This may clear some things up about the middle guy. I adjusted the levels and you can tell he is facing the opposite direction than the people are running in. You can tell by the way his legs are bent. If you look below the time stamp you can see what may be another figure on the ground. I think that the figure in the middle is looking at the figure on the ground.

I do agree that the movie will be released on 1/18/08, however, i doubt the effects will be esier or cheaper due to the camcorders, the trailer has 1080p quality.

Besides, the realism (and budget/time) has less to do with the resolution than it does detail in the models and compositing, this is where the most time is spent.

I swear to god this better not be one of those movies where the actors "see" the monster but the audience never does. Or if it does show it, it better not look cheesy/dumb/stupid/gay or i will throw a fit right in the theater

my own questions

Three things really bug me....
1) What the HELL is that thing between the girls' heads. I swear, the more I stare at it, the more scared I get.
2)I think EVERYBODY, so far, has agreed that this takes place in New York, judging by the names of the streets and the buildings they see in the trailer. Well..I checked out Google Maps, and pulled up the Statue of Liberty. It is 2 MILES AWAY from any part of NYC AT ITS CLOSEST....which begs the question....Did what ever did this pick up the head and carry it with them, or did they force the head to fly 2+ miles away? (And because the SOL is in water, I initially thought Godzilla too).
3) At the end of the trailer the guy screams "Its alive! Its huge!". Why does he say "its alive" first? It just doesn't make sense unless whatever 'it' is, usually isn't alive. I mean, if you saw Godzilla, King Kong, or any other giant being...the first thing you'd say would not be "its alive". Now, if my car 'transformed' into a robot.....then maybe....

the name on the paddle in the trailer represents alpha something mu.

mu seemed out of place to me and i don't recall ever hearing of it before.

Mu is a japanese word for 'none' or 'without'.

Quote:
In the manga series Death Note, Mu is said to be where all humans go after they die, and that there is no Heaven or Hell. In this case, "Mu" is considered to mean "nothingness".

 Got It!!! (maybe)
A new trail for us junies...

Ok this took a few hours of snooping around, but I have reasons to believe (though this would not work well with slusho unless he did that for all his Bad Robot advertising) that this may be a Revelations type movie as well, and here's why:

I searched and searched thru the Mystery Street thing but to no avail. Then someone here posted something about revelations 18:8 so I went for a read. I found this there:

'And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!'

Link

Which led me to 1:18
'I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.'

While browsing I found this one too:
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY (as in Mystery St???), BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

(Now if you have read Revelations you know that Babylon is 'the great city that falls' which is supposed to be the world's business/sin hub...not NYC u say? lol)

NOW - I went back and searched ABZ 3293, tried everything. I tried history of the date 3/2/1993 and even 3/2/1893, and even 3293 BC and found this:

Scroll down to ABZ it is an abbreviation that has to to with a man named Rykle Borger who coincidentally wrote a book and was a leading researcher in guess what? BABYLONIAN LINGUAL DECIPHERING!!!(Assyriologist)

Link

His book was called 'Assyrisch-babylonische Zeichenliste' (ABZ) Guess when it was friggin last published? '63... Anyone notice that it was 63 degrees in the news flash in the trailer? 63 degrees in NYC in Jan at midnight??? I think not.

At this point, I nearly shat myself, and began hunting deep into the world of translation of babylon scripts. I found out that AKM can also be Aleph-Kaph-Mem, lost link. Aleph-kaph-mem when googled led me to the definition 'Angel'...

Upon more searching for the 3293 part I found this:
Estimated Death Year of Adam (from Genesis and of Adam and Eve fame) to be 3293 BC...

Link

HMMMMMMMMM.........

Now, throw in the fact that we have been bombarded with the number 6 (mark of the beast)...

Extra Facts:

-The Beast is synonomous with the Abyss (ABZ = Abyss also? prolly not but hey Ive been up a few extra hours now so sorry)

-People claim that someone could have drawn in the 'devilish' looking silhouette in the girls' hair, very true - but the hair thing is overdone so moving on...

-I have to sleep. I'm sure theres more links I forgot to add but this is long enough as it is.

Good Luck

(2) Its easily possible that it was thrown, it was flying easily 50-60mph into that building (judging it going a few block in under a second or two)with hardly any arc to it. That could cover 2 miles easily.

(3) The "It's alive" helps denote that it is a living being attacking and not a natural disaster. You wouldn't say "It's alive!" if it were a meteor or earthquake, etc.

Very Happy

Jesus, that's a hell of a first post.

First off, I 100% agree that this movie is about the revelations and/or the apocolypse. Second, If you did just bark up the right tree then I'm obviously in way over my head and quit.

That's a lot of work that you put in there.. Wow.

Well, remember 300 was made with a 60million, and that was nearly ENTIRELY done by computer graphics. 30m isnt a bad budget for something that doesnt completely require lots and lots of graphics (outside of things that need to be digitally rendered. Actors and what not in this type of movie dont need that, where as a lot of the actors in 300 were touched up with lots of cg)
