I've been staring at it for a while, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why they need so much code to simply display a picture that doesn't do anything...

It's what you get for making a webpage in Microsoft Word...

It's all just metadata as far as I can tell.

badrobot.com

There is a very simple reason for all that html code, a reason which in my mind also proves that this is someone try to gamejack.

meta name=Generator content="Microsoft Word 11"

That's right, the page was created in Microsoft Word. No professional production company, even setting up a placeholder page, would make the page in Microsoft Word. It looks to me like someone with very very little web programming knowledge who wants to try and get in on the fun, so they found the bad robot logo and made a page in word for it and put it online.

Agreed, though I do find the XML If statement towards the end of the page interesting, but even then there's only the title page JPG listed with a title of "Logo_V01.jpg", but I don't think that's anything relevant. I find it odd there's that huge string of spaces at the bottom of the page, but again that could come from the editor used to create the page just being what it is.

Crap. Gamejackers... Mad

The reason I went there in the first place was to try and find the street address for the Bad Robot offices. I want to take a look at them with Google Earth. Maybe they got a word of a Google flyover and put something on the roof...

Just did a whois for badrobot.com out of curiosity, and it's registered to a Lawyer in California. The email address listed, the site doesn't appear to be there.

Shouldn't that person be in trouble by now for impersonating a production company?

Not necessarily. I googled the firm, I don't think it's actually impersonation. They're an entertainment firm in Hollywood, so it's very likely that J.J. Abrams could be a client.

He is a lawyer Very Happy Maybe he could defend himself.

And we all know what Benjamin Franklin said about people who defends themselves in court...

in the new pic on 1-18-08, just to the left of the (2) women running, does that figure look like he has a rifle, and has it up in position to aim & fire?

The whois suggests it has been registered a while, so I guess it's not actually gamejacking of this, it might just be domain squatting, so the guy is hoping to get money out of the real Bad Robot at some point for the domain name. Either that or as people have said, it might have been registered by a lawyer on behalf of the real Bad Robot.

Definitely not 1-18-08 related though

Here is a quick note for you weird bible connection predictors out there. The bible contains advanced numerology called Gematria. Using your basic sideshow clairvoyant numerology isn't going to get you anything. There really are plenty of hidden meanings for things in the bible as well as in the Torah. The beast may have something to do with the Abyss but the angel of the abyss is and always will be Abaddon the destroyer. There are other codes used in the bible that are proven not that bible code crap. Try doing a search on Hebrew and Greek mysticism and you'll find them. And anyway why does it have to be bible related why not Koran related or Bhagavad Gita? You know christians ain't got a lock on the Apocalypse.

Ragtime Pianist did some brightening and adjustments on the photo a few pages back in this thread. To me, looks more like somebody just looking opposite the direction the gals are running in. But since all we have is a ghostly silhouette, even that is hard to tell.

Photo with 2 girls at 1-18-08.com

(Sorry if it's already been said)

Is it me, or the two girls on the second photo at 1-18-08.com are the ones we see at 1:27 of the trailer (right of the screen) ?

If so, it quite discards the "demon behind them" theory:
- First photo during the party at 12:01
- Second photo at 12:36, minutes after the explosion and just before the SoL head crashes in the street
- Third at 12:48 in the streets covered by smoke (from the explosion, or from the destruction of a big building -> what's in the way between the SoL and Rob's appartment ?).

So, if the "monster" comes from the sea, destroys a tanker or a military ship at 12:33-34 (=> big explosion), and finally beheads the SoL at 12:36, it's very unlikely that any critter related to this monster could be just behind the girls exactly at the same time, isn't it ?

1. From just about every angle it's been reported that while Abrams might have a number thing, his work is absolutely removed from religious crap.

So? Just because he's never done a movie that referrences religion doesn't mean he's not going to broaden his horizon a bit.

2. The group having a party are actually partying - with mucho alcohol, that in and of itself strongly suggests they aren't religious one way or the other, let alone are the type to bother following some religious trail.

So? Them following religion or not does not mean this isn't a movie that makes referrence to religion. Not all religious people believe in not drinking and partying with "mucho alcohol".

tinag222 wrote:
3. I don't believe, with good reason (education) that the bible is the book of choice in Japan....let alone a christian god.

This last statement comes off as pretty arrogant and assumes that Christians aren't educated. Careful. There are Christians at this site. I am one. One who enjoys "partying with mucho alcohol" might I add.

And oh yeah... so?

Look it's not like anyone's saying this is a religious movie. But since yeah, I see that you are a veteran here, you know that many mysteries, let alone ARGs, use old texts such as the Bible as symbolic clues. Since (I thought anyway) you've been following along this thread pretty well, you should have noticed that the Bible isn't the only thing people are reaching for. Lovecraft and other known ancient myths are quoted here too.

Right now we don't have a lot to go on so our hands are reaching everywhere even to seemingly the ridiculous. There's a good chance that yes the movie and this ARG may still referrence the Bible or Lovecraft or Greek mythology or Japanese religious folklore (which mind you many "educated" citizens of Japan still believe in).

P.S. And Ragtime, where does a monster called a Parasite play into... the movie. Has it even been stated what this thing is yet?
