(just to be clear, I didn't come up with the earth in center theory, and I'm sure I couldn't have been the first to think it was the moon on the 1st spoke there - don't want to take credit where it's not mine Wink I just played with some of the pics)

While we have the "moon theory" on the board, here's a screenshot of the moon right above the Ark:

It's low-q, but in HD it looks like a full moon.

There's a lunar eclipse on August 28th of this year. What if the smaller circles stand as the moon and the larger for the sun?

I don't know where I'm going with this but it's late and I'm out of ideas

I can confirm this, it looks like a full moon, partially covered by clouds.

Also, at the beginning of Halo 2 (October 20, 2552), you can see the moon is crescent to the left like: ( .

That should help us date Halo 3 and possibly figure out some moon connection.

I don't know if anybody has noticed this or commented on it, but the image has been created to viewed in a foreshortened manner, similar to the street art of Julian Beever.

This might be a shot in the dark, but does anyone know where he's doing his next piece? Who knows, maybe Bungie hired him to hide so clues in his work.

He mostly works in Europe though doesn't he? Although seeing a whopping Halo3 Shot from him would be absolutely awesome.

That's exactly why I thought of him.
To get the proper elipse of the circle the image needs to be viewed from a very specific angle.
So what better way to get people to find a 'physical' clue, then to have someone create it in a public place.

Like I said, this could very well be a shot in the dark, but you never know.

Also, when I did a search on Julian Beever, Wikipedia mentions an american artist by the name of Kurt Wenner, who also does similar street art.

following in rush's theory..I've looked up the moon phase for October 20th, 2552

Friday, October 20, 2552

Moon's age (days): 1
Distance (Earth radii): 56.87
Percent Illumination 1.80%
Ecliptic latitude (degrees): -0.78
Ecliptic longitude (degrees): 222.62

Not sure if this information will help anyone, but the website for finding this is : http://www.paulsadowski.com/moonphases/default.asp

According to that site, the full moon occurs on November 5, 2552. Then, it's safe to assume that the events around the Ark occur mainly on that day.

Upon closer examination, it looks more like a three-quater moon. Actually, it very much resembles the ying-yang symbol.

A 3/4 moon would put it around October 30, 2552. If In Amber Clad had all of Cortana's improvements, then they could probably have made it to Delta Halo and back in 10 days...

Who says that it's the next 3/4 moon? I don't think that it's out of place to say that there's a distinct possibility of there being at least a month between the events of the games (probably not beyond 3 or 4, IMO, but who knows).

The Forerunner ship can definitely make the journey in less then a month. If you watch the final cut scenes of halo2 you can tell the chief hasn't moved very far within the forerunner vessel even though he has jumped from Delta Halo to Earth(i believe if you scour halo.bungie.org you can find the article outlining this) . I also would assume we would start playing right after this event takes place. If not there had better be a cut scene that explains why.
