EHWR puzzle #1
Partial transcription

I was able to identify a number of the letters on EHWR puzzle #1. If I read clockwise around each pentagon or hexagon I can puzzle out "...one aft/er the/ other/ they fo/llow th/e lead..." using the 5 polygons that belong to the puzzle solution sequence and the pentagon to the right of the top hexagon. Can anyone work out the letters on the other polygons?

This one does.
I have actually been in a couple of tabletop beta tests...and written a few rule sets myself. Tabletop RPGs need testing as much (if not more) as computer games.

There is no way to data mine a tabletop game:).

Re: EHWR puzzle #1

Sorry, I just realized the EHWR puzzle #1 text I posted above is a solving hint.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Similar to puzzle #3, "One light opens it all".

Proof that Alpha Beta is NOT a real game.

#1. Mindstorm Labs has made 0 other games.

#2. Mindstorm Labs has NO previous records of existance before June 07.

#3. There is no alpha or beta testing history of the game.

#4. Tabletop RPG's don't go through public alpha or beta testing.

#5. Automated responses on the phone calls AND e-mails.

Everyone is linking EHWR to Alpha Beta, which is obviously the case, but everyone is also automatically assuming that that is where the line ends, which is not true. Alpha Beta isn't the product the ARG is advertising, its another PART of the ARG.

Every company has a first.

Wrong in several ways. Originally, the earliest known appearance was in May, whent hey issued their press release. Later, it was discovered that they were posting to a forum or two in January seeking artists.

Except the bit on their site where they talk about being in beta test.

You just skipped over the post before yours which says otherwise.

This is pretty irrelevant. Many ARGs have automated responses on email and phone. And some of the email responses have NOT been automated, but personalized.

First off, it's Alpha Omega, not Alpha Beta. Secondly, the idea that it's part of the ARG is possible, and it was the first theory I had about it. But for that to be the case, it would mean that the puppetmasters were putting things in place six months ago (e.g., Mind Storm posting in January seeking artists) to make it look real.

Still more evidence of Mind Storm Labs and Alpha Omega, this time from March.

ETA:

Even more.

And if that's the case, then EHWR is deeper than we thought. And with the messages in the first puzzle, etc. it could be.[/quote]

I agree that they are suspicious, but I don't think there is any conclusive evidence that they are part of the ARG.

They did exist before June 07. Archive.org has a version of the page from May. According to Whois, Mindstormlabs.com was registered on Go Daddy on May 8th 2006, over a year ago.

I emailed infoSPLATmindstormlabs.com a week ago and never got a response, automated or otherwise. I did attempt to call them and just got a suspicious sounding voice mail. It said "Mind Storm Labs" and then beeped for me to leave a message.

If we believe their press releases, they are venture capitalist backed, so it is very possible that they have the money to burn with this viral campaign.

Don't get me wrong. If it turns out that the puppetmasters of EHWR in fact have been putting things into place online since January, making it seem like MSL was a real company so that there'd be things coming up in Google when the ARG hit six months later, I will bow to their forethought.

I just don't think it's the most likely explanation for what MSL is.

Further to the above on Alpha Omega/Mind Labs.

I did a search for "Oderon City" from the AOML game description
and found a link to Polygot rpg magazine (V4:i5). Inside there is a 'review' of AO with exactly the same desc. as the ML site contains.

Does contain another AOML image worth looking at IMO tho, some sort of pincer robots and a creature underwater...

First post so go easy.

Niether do I. I was just expressing the "if" of the situation. Smile

Um, he tells you what it is. Its the name of a city in the Alpha Omega game/universe.

I have a question : all of you just starting on the puzzles, how are you finding the site? I'd be curious to follow around anyone who is seeding the site to other forums to see if that leads anywhere.

I just found this on the Polyglot website, which would explain why there would be a description that is identical to the website:

"Game companies take note: If you want your press releases to reach a wider audience, what are you waiting for? Send them to us at Polyglot as often as you can write them, and we will include them in the next issue of Polyglot. "
