Once again a cross post from the plot theory thread. I'm doing this in case some people are not reading the other threads and because I feel my point is valid.

I just wanted to put my two cents in about the SOL head.

Now plenty of people are doing real world investigations of where the SOL head would have to travel to be in that part of NY during the trailer. I'm gonna take the "it's a movie" stance on that and say the SOL head being there is just symbolic. The statue of liberty is something we can all recognize and is a stead fast symbol in our culture. The fact that it was ripped down and thrown at the camera is just for the shock factor of seeing something we all know and love get destroyed. It solidifies how much of a threat this monster is.

Also, could someone lend me a pop-musical hand?

During the trailer, what song is playing right before the first roar that takes the power down? Having listened to it about a bazillion times, give or take, it's really stuck in my head.

It has nothing to do with the game. I just want to buy the song. Very Happy

I'm new to ARG's and have been lurking on this forum for the last 4 days (sort of a requirement to read this entire freaking thread), but I thought I'd share a slightly skewed perspective.

Let me preface this by saying I could be completely wrong in all of this, but this is just sort of what I've come across. No websites, just information related to stuff found on the two "official" sites that everyone is digging through (with one minor bit from the trailer that's been discussed before).

After reading through the history on the slusho.jp site, I decided that I'd plug in a few words from the history site into google and see what popped up on my screen.

Everyone already did the obvious "First Name" Yoshida checks, but I did a quick check on just plugging in the first names into google.

Noriko didn't bring up anything significant, neither did Ryouta, but when I plugged in Ganu ... I got a whole load of links directed towards a Welsh hymn singing festival. I haven't dug deeper into that just yet ... but I have a long night shift ahead of me, so maybe I'll come across something.

A brief moment of thinking "Whales = Wales?" came and went. The Welsh flag, incidentally, is of a red dragon that doesn't appear to have any solid history of why it's there.

A quick look up of the ABZ in the license plate in regards to airports (tenuous link at best on this one, but I was curious) brings up the airport being located in New South Wales, Australia. Also probably a dead end, but the national motto gets me thinking about that 3rd picture:

"Newly Risen, How Brightly You Shine".

Once again, I acknowledge that I haven't come across any sites that would pop up and say "Hey look at me! I'm part of the game!", so take all of this with a grain of salt. If it's not part of the game at all, at least this can be eliminated.

Could be brilliance. You know I'm all over it Smile

Okay I figured it out: The creature is Al Gore, after eating too many slusho! if you listen to the roar it says "Goooooooorrrrrrrrrrree!"

It makes perfect sense, the high temp in the winter, the SOL head, the ruined party. Al Gore is a major party pooper.

See he throws the SOL head cause of all the freedom we lost by not electing him.
The best clue is "I saw it, it's alive, it's huge." cause we know how unanimated, dead and bland Al Gore is. so that line would be a perfect reaction to seeing a giant Al Gore tearing up lower Manhattan.

Thank you. Smile

EDIT: Wow! Good freaking song! Reminds me of old 70s arena rock. Much better than today's endless parade of guys who sound like whinier versions of Paul Simon.

Except that when I listen to it, there's a point at which my brain inserts a really loud roaring noise...

According to the Cloverfield Wikipedia entry (unfortunately they don't cite their sources):

Yellowcard frontman Ryan Key put to rest a rumor while speak to MTV News stating that he is not in the film, but is open to the idea. In another MTV inerview a very close friend of Abrams Keri Russell confermed spending time on the set of the film but declined to confirm weather or not she had actually filmed a cameo just days before giving birth to a boy, named River Russell Deary, on June 9, 2007 in New York City around the time where the movie was finished being filmed. It has been pointed out that a very pregnate Russell could be seen very quickly amoungst a crowed in the first trailer.

A second teaser trailer is expected to be released along with the upcoming Paramount film "Stardust" on 08/10/2007, while a full trailer is schedualed to show with "Bee Movie" November 9th, 2007.

hmmm very interesting...anyway we can confirm this???

I stopped listening to pop music somewhere around 2000 or so. It all sounded like variations on one of four themes: 1) Whiny Paul Simon, 2) Lots of yelling, 3) Slut girl filtered through "vocal magic" machine, 4) Hip hop done by folks who really need to go back and listen to Grandmaster Flash or Run DMC to see how it's supposed to be done.

Some stuff still grabs me - this group, for example. Not much of it, though.

OK ... I read ... eerr ... almost half of this massive thread.

I haven't noticed anyone mentioning something at the beginning of the Trailer.

At least the ones that official ones that have been posted on the Web.

Between the green "This has been rated for all audiences" [or what ever it says] and the beginning of the "Party Seen" ...

When the fuzzy Paramount Logo there is a Voice-Over that says "Quite" ...

The Trailer fritzes

The "Bad Robot" Logo comes up and the VO says "He's coming"

Now, it could be referring to "Rob" and that he is, in fact, about to arrive at the party ...

But so is that Roaring-Smoky stomping monster thing.

Just mentioning ... don't mind the no0b to the ARG. Wink

Remember the last lines from "The Blob?" (1958 version.)
Lieutenant Dave: At least we've got it stopped.
Steve Andrews: Yeah, as long as the Arctic stays cold

Posibbly why its so hot in NY, also paramount has had the rights to the movie for awhile, they origianl director of the new remake left for disney...nothings has been released on the project since he left

I think (apart from the Blob actually being involved Smile) that you might be onto something.
This attack could have been triggered by global warming. Something being awoken and/or driven out of the deep seas by them heating up. It would fit nicely with the 63 degrees in the middle of the night in january in NY, and also with the Slusho ingredient that needs to be kept as cold as it was on the bottom of the ocean.
And global warming is to the 2000 what communists were to the eighties and media was to the nineties.

39, man. I'm still growing into my geezerhood. Wink

I'm a it of a music snob, since I'm a musician myself. What I tend to like it music that sounds like the musicians not only know what they're doing but worked really hard to make their music the best it could be.

We'd be a lot better off if record companies went back to the old Motown Music model of making albums.

And you put little paper wedges under the turntable to make the feet even!
