Even so, I'm under the understanding that Lovecraft is insinuating that the Horror was clearly viewed during or after its death, as an octopus-centipede thing with no chin and a human face.

Unlikely, but it would be nice. He'd have to do some major retooling to make it seem truly horrifying - there's something vaguely comical about an octopus with a chinless pale human face.

It could be a descendant of the Horror, something more visible and spooky, but we have absolutely no evidence for that, so the chances are one in a zillion.

Don't you just love random speculation?

Maybe it's me, but it just seems too "in your face" to be Lovecraft. Also, aren't we off by about eighty years? I thought Lovecraft was in the 20s?

Anyway, question: what's the blogging site of choice for Lost and similar ARGs? LiveJournal? BlogSpot? What?

I have a belief that a movie-based blog, a legitimate one, will crop up soon if not already, describing the events leading up to the day. I'd like to know where to look.

All this theorizing leads me to believe that it will be something entirely original, which has me pretty excited. It seems to me that these people are trying to reinvent the monster movie genre, just like Scream did for horror movies (if you're a wuss), and just like Saw did for horror movies (if you're not a wuss). Cool

I do too....but only in reference to the reminder I just had (posted on analysis thread) that there could be a character blog off the 1-18 site. I suggested that based on the possibility here the photos on the 1-18 site are not from the videocamera like we've all assumed - but someone else's camera...and it's found also, etc.

Since Kelvin and Pike bought the 1-18 site, maybe looking for a different Kelvin/Pike source might turn up a blog.

Swimming in Slusho clues...

I agree... Slusho exists to be figured out.

A donkey under water saying "oven mitt'... a fish saying "cheese or swiss cheese"

The cryptic history of Slusho and the littlest whale... growing in size because of drinking slusho.

Who is the cousin that Ganu rejoined with? Technically what is the "smallest whale" in the ocean? The biggest is the Blue Whale.

i heard the smallest whale ist the sperm whale. Which again leads me to this leviathan theory.

Because: "the Leviathan has come to be associated by many with the sperm whale."

This is part of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leviathan

*edit*

hm who said, it would be small? when i look up sperm whale, this animals look gigantic... oO

so anyway forget about what i said before

The fact that you can't read it rules it out. Of all the requirements in this game, knowing Japanese probably isn't one of them...

It leads to a website of something called the yoshida corporation. Link?

Beaked whales are the deepest diving and rarest if I recall...

Considering the ingredient was found under great pressure in the cold - beaked whales are the only whales that can dive the deepest and are indigenous to arctic waters.

Point considered, however, there is Japanese on the sight as well as english and it's been established (least originally) that the english flavors is something regarding buisiness opportunities in Japanese. Now after their 7-12 update the jp text change but to my knowledge nobody has bothered translating the new version to see what it might say post update.

The cheese.jp one is interesting, tho. I'll give ya that.

This probably sounds simple and dumb but--

In the beginning of the madness in the trailer, there's a big explosion...

How would the monster cause the explosion? He couldn't have been near the explosion, or he would have died.

It seems to me that either he didn't cause the explosion (maybe it was military trying to kill him? Maybe it's not a monster period- which is my personal theory) or he did but from far away.. somehow.
