Not convincing enough. Anyone could create a MySpace account (heck, I just did with pretty much bogus info). There's still no content ther anyway.

Unless (a) something from an existing known site drives me to exactly that link, or (b) something never before seen appears on the MySpace site that, without a doubt, can be linked back to existing sites.

The Kanji alone doesn't cut it. That level of pixellation leads me to believe it was probably ripped straight from a few pixels of the trailer. If it were the real thing, you'd see it in high resolution; then, and if I were able to match that up to one in the trailer, I might be more receptive.

*EDIT* BTW: The date's arguably wrong... the photos on the 1-1-18 site are marked after midnight, implying that the party started the night before.

And how do I keep getting the top of the page?!?

 		Im going to have to agree with madeillegal. The site looks pretty legit, and Ive played a few ARG's that have used Myspace. I think that this could mos def be In Game, and I think that we mos def need to figure out what the duce that symbol means.

I doubt any public domain site such as myspace would ever be used as a legit place to promote a movie.

Why?

Too easy for cretins to mimic the content. .. just like that license plate page that was shot down for being a fake.

I'm fairly certain that any such page we discover... it's going to have a "low doubt" factor regarding its authenticity.

TLE did use a MySpace page to hand out VAGUE information. That said, specifically, Verizon used MySPace and AIM to handle their portion of the TLE.

After it was over Javi answered questions about all of this on his Live Journal blog. Basically, sponsors were given a piece and they could deliver it in whatever way they wanted (Jeff Jensen on his car, Verizon with Mandrake Wig and Flikr, Sprite with sublymonal, Jeep, etc.).

I guess my point is don't discount MySpace just yet (although that specific one maybe). I just think we need to be patient and see where they tell us to go...and they will Very Happy .

 		I have to agree that the myspace page is a game-jack. Like mentioned before there's been a smooth progression of ideas. And the myspace page just looks like crap. Too lazy to check out every face at the party, but I dont think any of the 'friends' were at the party.

Hence me thinking this is just somebody having some fun.

wellmissyourob? Like you said, they're real people, would they use their 'real' name?

Without offering an opinion on if it's OOG or not, that symbol looks like a Space Invader (from the eons-old classic video game) to me.

The "friends" section is simply people that asked to be friends. Those are reeal people.

OK, let's assume that the MySpace thing is hypothetically real. So we got two things on it:

1) The badly pixellated Kanji, which looks like it's grabbed from somewhere, be it a website or the trailer.

2) The background: the dotted image of Japan, with certain dots highlited.

Well, you want it to be real... Go ahead and decipher the image of Japan. Smile

In any event, not dismissing any potential lead, I sent my RSVP. I also asked him about the date, 'cause I could have sworn the party was on the 17th...

That being said, I fully expect to see in-character myspace pages in the game. In fact, I'm reasonably certain they already exist.

Trouble is, we have NO idea where to find them.

Actually, the picture doesn't say anything about a party. It says he's going to Japan on the 18th. I RSVPed and said that I misplaced Rob's email (may I have it), and also that I haven't seen him in a while and I don't know why he's going... Wait and see.

 		Again, sorry if its been brought up, but WTF is up with Rob's eyes in the party photo on 1-18-08.com? They are 100% black, yet everyone elses are fine. Prolly nothing..........prolly...............but I thought Id still bring it up.

I've been told my eyes appear black unless you're really up close.

I'm loads of fun at parties, freaking people out from across the room, summoning giant monsters to distract the ugly chick that keeps hitting on me, etc...
