No luck on backwards playback. I think this one is pretty straightforward, though. It does do wonders for my "Forerunner have no moral judgement" theory. "Progress can blind you." Like when creating the Flood...

I'm wondering, though, if they didn't discover the Flood. Maybe the reason they didn't eradicate it is because some of them thought they should be preserved for study. Or that all life is precious, and that it should be unthinkable to eradicate any species, no matter how distasteful.

Then the Flood went caveman.

And then they found there was an intelligence behind it, something older than even the Forerunner. And they knew they were fuxx0red.

could be a touch of both. What I got from the flash vid, was that the Forerunner may have seeded worlds, and while they were doing this, found the flood which was a billion times different than anything they had made, and the flood was like uber distructive. I mean it said that the flood had done this kinda stuff before, they could be like an intergalactic threat.
Breed and eat themselves from one galaxy to another, then they got here, and found something that could if not pwnzer them, at least hold them off

The whole "antithesis of life" from the first server and the comments in this one really, really suggest they encountered Flood, and did not create them.

I've been thinking lately that perhaps Flood (or a counter to life in general) might be a naturally emergent phenomenon within any galaxy, given enough time. Perhaps when a Galaxy reaches a certain maturity, the balance between life and death shifts, and death begins to gain ground.

Consider it the ultimate evolutionary battle - life vs. death. As life evolves and expands, so would death. The end game of course, is the Flood.

It has happened elsewhere, apparently. This would explain why the Forerunner saved the Flood specimens for study.

- "We're losing the battle for this galaxy!"
- "Not to mention the war for the entire universe!"
- "We'll have to wipe everything out here, but leave them tools to begin again!"
- "And maybe, eventually, win the war!"

Or something like that.... Smile

Is anybody still just getting a black screen? I saw it last night, but I haven't been able to see it this morning.

Yah, I'm still getting the black screen. When I right click my mouse it says "movie not loaded". Also when I go to Halo3.com the servers are not clickable.

Probably just bandwidth issues but it's kinda annoying.

I had to get a closer look at this. Nice little program, btw.

You don't see the picture or you don't see the planet in the middle?

It may be a stretch, but if you look at the blobs in the center circle they do look like the layout of the continents on a globe. Depending on how I look at it, the blobs either look like North and South America or Europe and Africa. If you consider them to be Europe and Africa, then the white line in the middle would be almost exactly where the Prime Meridian is. The more I look at it, though, the less correct it looks.

Are the numbers in this picture (at the top of the white line) important, or something just added in by the program that created this?

Not sure if this needs a new topic or not...

Question: Has anyone considered analyzing the noise that the spinning thing is making on Server 2? Maybe this was done already with Server 1, but it could be a new noise. Don't know if there is anything worth looking into there, but it might be worth someone's time... (I seriously lack the computer savvy needed to do this).
