While I know there was good intentions behind addlepated and Magesteff involvement, when I first heard it I was disppointed. Mainly because I only joined in at the end and not many people were active, but mage and addle were. it seemed a bit of a circular reference, like they created it and then solved it. It felt as though they had a lot of power to influence what happened. and some IRC chats make more sense, knowing they are BTS.

I know they were BTS so didn't know the story etc... and now I know what work they did I feel better about it. Reading past discussion on BTS playing ARG's I was all for it, but now i'm not so sure. it just rubs me the wrong way, finding someone was on the inside.

I don't mean this to take away from the game or people involved with it, its just how I feel

Colin, I made a point of not saying anything when the pages I made were found, I did my darndest to not have an influence in that section, plus Addlepated and I never created any of the puzzles, we were as stumped as everyone else was. We did not get involved until After the server crash, and we had big mouths long before that Wink Oh, I was in the #acheron rooms, I talked, but it was all just general comments about life and loves and things I was not involved in. Believe me when I say, that if I had been given more information, I would not have continued to participate as a player, and I almost did stop playing at that point, grumbling about health issues and frustration levels, just so when I did stop, it would seem like a natural occurance rather than me suddenly going cold turkey.

Sorry, Rosie, you made a very heartfelt plea for me to stay with Acheron, but I was trying to set it up so no one would think I was mad at anyone, I wanted it to look like my health was making it necessary for me to leave the discussion groups. I'm glad I didn't have to disappoint you. Wink

In proof of how big my mouth is, you can go and check the Chasing the Wish section, I had a big mouth there too. In fact in just a few months I had more postings than people who had been here since the very beginning of Unfiction, ask Dmax, ask SpaceBass, ask Bill. I know, its a bad habit, but words are my friends.

(edited for: hmmm... must figure out a way to let people go and correct my spelling mistakes...)

Colin: I don't remember if you were in the chat at the "end" because it got a little frenetic. But, we were all working hard trying to solve stuff and obviously slowing it down would have helped us all and the game. Damn you Jake!

I understand how you feel about it, but I don't think that the chat was directed by Steff or Addle at all, and I was there for a great deal of it. I wish you could have joined too, while chatting with the character, we were also talking in #acheron about what to do and say, and usually laughing our, um, heads off.

For my part, until it was explained in the PM chat, I didn't fully understand the impact of the infamous server crash and the amount of additional work involved. I honestly think I would have just given up at that point and I am glad that whoever did whatever they did to keep the game going.

I just meant that, because I thought Magesteff was a PM (and PM to me means anyone involved in the game behind the scenes, I don't know what a BTS is) and because she was posting so heavily in the forums, it seemd that the people making the game were directing where the players were going. It was fun though.

Steff has always been prolific in posting on any game she is playing. The background research she posted for CTW represented hours of web searching and reading. Research is her forte. And she is very generous in posting her spec so those who do not have access to the chat rooms can participate in spec.

I'd echo that - I had no idea just how close the game came to meltdown, personally I'm hugely grateful to all involved for their effort in creating this game in the first place, and especially for keeping it going in spite of the problems. And for my part, I'd say both Steff and Addle did a fine job of keeping out of the areas where they had had any involvement. I must admit when I saw their names in the credits, my first thought was that they had been nudging us all along. However, now that we know what their input was, I really don't see what the problem is. I just don't know how Steff managed to not dive in on the spec about the murder report Laughing
