STRANGE CONNECTION?

ok, so I was playing around with various parts of the Slusho website and decided to search slusho on e-bay to see what was out there. (possibly find some weird t-shirts that people had started to make or something) and all I got was a guy selling a meteorite.

So I take a look at the meteorite and start to read a little bit about it. Well, there were a few strange names that poped up like "Vaca Muerta".

So I try the website www.vacamuerta.com and nothing special pops up.

So then I take another look for the hell of it and decided to try another vague word in the description, "Eucrites".

So I go to www.eucrites.com and get a strange website called media interactive Inc.

At first look it just looks like a normal media website, but when you start reading what it has to say, something just seems very odd about the whole thing.

It has a very simple display (Kind of like the slusho website) and when you send an e-mail it is to an address supportSPLATSetupFresh.com

setupfresh......slusho fresh for you.....

I don't know....I want someone else to look at this thing and let me know if it does seem a little odd or if im jsut thinking about this thing too hard.

Couldn't hurt to be on their mailing list, but I doubt it's connected. It's a bit of an odd site with a strange web address, but that's about all I can see.

Eucrites is not just a random word in the listing, it's actually a type of meteorite. That ebay account has been around since 2004 and it looks like the seller has a habit of placing popular words in his title (I thought maybe SLUSHO was a type of meteorite or an acronym for something, but they don't mention it anywhere else).

Vaca Muerta is a famous meteor crash site. I researched a lot of this and learned tons about meteorites but nothing more about Slusho! Laughing
-sigh-

I call shenanigans. Popups from the vacamuerta site? Marketing mailing lists? User name "money"? Argh indeed.

Site's been registered since March of this year, but it's definitely OOG (they would never use a site like eBay where people might actually spend money). But, damn, that's a bad website. Nothing like white text on light blue background to get the eyes burning. And why a media company would use the name of a meteorite as a domain is beyond me.

And we're all thinking too hard; that's the point of this! Wink

A Little More on Eucrites
A Little More on Eucrites

Ok, so I decided to look a little closer at this www.eucrites.com site and did a whois search and got the following address as the registrant.

SetUpFresh.com
130 7th Avenue PMB#302
New York
NY
10011
US
Phone: +1.9144221124

Then I decided to google earth the location to see where it was, and if you zoom down on it and look at its proximity to the Statue of Liberty it is a DEAD line directly in front of it, and the rooftop looks just like the prespective from the trailer and when they went to the street and the Statue of Liberty head comes flying down at them.

Take a look.

Actually, that's pretty far away from where they are. Someone had noted a building in the trailer that said 401 Broadway on it, which is probably closer to where they are (and you can see all of those buildings from there).

The street they're on doesn't really exist.

When they exit the building, to the left is Broadway and to the right is Orchard Street. Those two are several blocks apart, Broadway being closer to the Southern end of the island, I believe.

There's a Broadway and an E Broadway, Orchard Street almost runs into E Broadway.

Pretty much been confirmed elsewhere that the trailer was filmed on the Paramount lot, not in NY proper.

I checked it out for a while but I don't think there is any fixed pattern to them... they seem to be random, but maybe I'm missing something.

Check out the seller's other items. You'll see he's selling other items with the words ETHAN and HAAS in them.

Guy just trying to cash in on the moment.

There is nothing "random" in the Flash components at all; randomness in Flash, as far as I know, can only be achieved through code, and I've verified there's none of that on the Slusho site.

For example, on 1-1-18.com, the pictures ARE placed randomly on the page with explicit calls to the random function ("Math.random").

So, what you see is what you get, at least as far as Slusho is concerned.

For those of you who are know how to look at the flash code for Slusho.com can you find out about the main menu buttons and the calls that are made to which picture should show up base on when the cursor goes over the button? Taking the 2nd button (on the left) for example, first pass of your mouse you're going to see the fish on the right, once the head goes away, if you put it over the same button again, it shows the frog head...where as buttons 1, 5 and 6, only have one animal head they show, 2, 3, and 4 are the only ones that have multiple heads.

I've seen patterns with it but I'd like to see if there is any stuff in the code that would point out any patterns that we can really sink our collective teeth into.

I think we need to move on from the flash on slusho. Examining code is only going to find missteps and stuff which will just muddy the water. Without going into details I think the behavior people are seeing with the mouse overs is just a sideffect of the way it was done, nothing more.

Cookies?

I really need to get back to work! Rolling Eyes

Can cookies be significant in any of this? I'm just curious because I'm looking at them (there are four of them) and one expires on 1-18 (but not until 2038) and has a pretty long ID.

Could be nothing but I don't see what they could be tracking at this point (four cookies PLUS the urchin tracker)! Forgive me if this has been posted already. I'm trying to keep up!
