Re: STRANGE CONNECTION?
STRANGE CONNECTION?

ok, so I was playing around with various parts of the Slusho website and decided to search slusho on e-bay to see what was out there. (possibly find some weird t-shirts that people had started to make or something) and all I got was a guy selling a meteorite.

So I take a look at the meteorite and start to read a little bit about it. Well, there were a few strange names that poped up like "Vaca Muerta".

So I try the website www.vacamuerta.com and nothing special pops up.

So then I take another look for the hell of it and decided to try another vague word in the description, "Eucrites".

So I go to www.eucrites.com and get a strange website called media interactive Inc.

At first look it just looks like a normal media website, but when you start reading what it has to say, something just seems very odd about the whole thing.

It has a very simple display (Kind of like the slusho website) and when you send an e-mail it is to an address supportSPLATSetupFresh.com

setupfresh......slusho fresh for you.....

I don't know....I want someone else to look at this thing and let me know if it does seem a little odd or if im jsut thinking about this thing too hard.

I think you might be on to something with Eucrites.com.

WHOIS says it was registered it March but updated in early July. This is a realistic timeframe.

I can tell you that IF they set cookies for zooming, that is huge. The problem is that I have zoomed and checked my cookies and they do not seem to set any. They just set four initial cookies when you visit the site.

Which page did you zoom on that set cookies?

I recall it being the Slusho site, though it could have been the 1-18-08.com site before they disabled the zoom feature.

I've cleared all my cookies and private data to see if maybe I can reproduce it. If so, I'll post it.

Four cookies? What would a site as bland and non-interactive at that need four cookies?

"In Shinto, the practice of libation and the drink offered is called Miki (神酒), lit. "Liquor of the Gods". At a ceremony at a Shinto shrine, it is usually done with sake wine, but at a shrine in a house, one may substitute fresh water which will be changed every morning. It is served in a white porcelain or metal cup without any decoration."

Doesn't the word "libation" strike anyone else as odd? This would not translate automatically like that unless it had the literal meaning.

It's also the same word commonly used for any drink, especially an alcoholic one.

I set firefox to ask whenever a site wants to set or modify a cookie. It asked to modify 3 existing cookies when I first went to the Slusho site, then asked to modify another when I went to the Downloads page. None from zooming in/out yet.

People don't commonly use the word "libation" for "beverage", unless they're talking about an alcoholic drink. I'm thinking this might have something to do with it. Rob's party + Slusho shirt + Noriko's love of "libations"...seems fishy (swiss cheese fishy!) to me.

I'm just running off the dictionary definition along with modern usage (that would elevate the "slang" use over the religious ceremony one).

On the other hand...this post now seems to be slightly prophetic. Wink

I get three cookies from each site (Slusho and 1-18-0Cool

One is a "__utma" cookie that expires 1-17-2038.
One is a "__utmc" cookie that expires at the end of the session.
One is a "__utmz" cookie that expires 1-15-2008.

Nah, that just means you visited the site via slusho.org. Clear your cookies and visit the site directly and you won't have that.

okay so I took the words "ovenmitt" and "cheese" and anagramed it with a two word limit

cestoi vehement
come seventieth
emotive tenches
ethene vicomtes
ethenes vicomte
evection themes
onetime vetches
seventieth come
tenches emotive
themes evection
toits vehemence
vehemence toits
vehement cestoi
vetches onetime
vicomte ethenes
vicomtes ethene

I tried most of them as myspace names, nothing valid yet, but i did find that the word evection is latin for carried away. which is probably what i'm getting right about now, but there it is.

took the music notes "eceggagaf"

ace egg fag
ace fag egg
cage ef gag
cage egg fa
cage fa egg
cage gag ef
cee fag gag
cee gag fag
ef cage gag
ef gag cage
egg ace fag
egg cage fa
egg fa cage
egg fag ace
fa cage egg
fa egg cage
fag ace egg
fag cee gag
fag egg ace
fag gag cee
gag cage ef
gag cee fag
gag ef cage
gag fag cee

um... ace? egg?

lastly. I emailed my bro who is a huge fan of japanese culture and asked him to pick apart the slusho page tell me what he sees, he knwos about the arg, but has not beeing following along as closely as i have.

i fowarded him this thing from that willwillmissyourob myspace page,

and asked him to translate

anyway here is his reply, perhaps it will spark something in someone else. I have to get ready for work now.

Quote:
dude... you're thinking too hard. I think this is another part of the
ad campaign and thats it. slusho is jj abrams trademark. It was in
his alias show. The site doesnt seem to have any cultural references
other than typical japanese weirdness.
As for the attachment, its hard to translate. three out of the nine
characters are new to me. It is an informal "I" statement. I recognize
the words: I (or possibly a mispelling of my), one word which may mean
cliche or party, life (which changes in meaning depending upon the
word next to it), and am (or are or is). Ill have to keep looking
because that doesnt make much sense as it is, but this statement
doesnt seem very important

Ace
Graffiti

I tend to think you may be on the right track! I picked up in the trailer, during the rooftop scene, the graffiti saying "Ace --- 2004"! It seems to me, to be TOO MUCH of a coincidence. (The graffiti only is visible if you play it frame by frame.)
