Still Big as F$%#
Perspective

We're talking about the New York skyline, here! When we look back at most of the movie monsters of the past, (King Kong climbing the Empire State Building, Godzilla smashing a tank, ETC...) These monsters are STILL within the realm of being able to go UNSEEN within the New York. Let's just say that, for the sake of argument, the impression left on the SOL head is IN FACT a handprint, rather than damage from being thrown....(This would be the impression Producers would try to create, when doing a "Trailer".) How BIG would that creature HAVE TO BE??? I haven't "Crunched the Numbers" yet, but on first impression, IT would stilll be able to go UNSEEN by the naked eye in the New York Skyline.

I get what you're saying. Especially in a movie New York at that. I was only basing what I said on the fact that King Kong had a stride of a couple dozen feet but he was fast. Godzilla has a stride of a couple hundred feet. Of all the Monsters, Godzilla is the biggest we have a reference for. At the interval between earthquakes, if those were footsteps, wouldn't you have to take into account the probable amount of distance covered versus the size of something capable of takeing a step that takes minutes?

Big enough to climb up a 300' statue and remove its head. Then take the head, which is about the size and weight of an H2, and throw it three miles. Wink

Personally I think it's one big sea monster that just saw poor Ms. Liberty and decided to play Tee-ball.

Numbers can be used to vaguely prove anything. I used numbers to prove that my hamster is simultaneously Buddha, the Antichrist and the reincarnation of George Harrison.

I can see your post.
Why, just this morning my PAN DIMENSIONAL MEGABEING hamster (I call him Gerald) announced that he had enlightened my dog, summoned Satan with a woodchip pentacle and rewritten the lyrics to "Here Comes the Sun".

Personally, I don't think this monster is water-based. What would be the fun in that? Just stay away from the coast. I'm reeeealy hoping for something Lovecraftian, a monster that defies human imagination and causes instant insanity... cool. I'm pretty sure that ain't gonna happen, though. Probably something original, or an amalgam of religious monsters/apocalyptic prophecies sort of thing.

I know it's stupid to go back to the Lovecraft thing, but I just got a mental image of Dagon rising from the waters and using it's monolith to whack Liberty's head off...

Ooh, Dagon... forgot about him. Maybe not Dagon, but perhaps one of his fishy followers (the monster from the short story). That would be creepy, if rendered well, though it might end up just looking like Cthulhu. I think the idea of Dagon and a bunch of squishy Deep Ones ransacking New York would be nifty, but what about the explosion? I don't think a water/fish god would shoot fireballs...

To good to be true, I guess.

They're Deep Ones. They can do whatever they feel like. XD

Actually, I firmly believe the explosion came from underground (not that that helps my Dagon theory >_>). The 'roar' I thought was the steam release before a volcano... :/ I like the Dagon/fishy people idea better...

I have looked around on these forums and have not found this reference yet.

From: www.9news.com

Quote:
The official Web site is www.1-18-08.com, but the source tells Kirk that apparently a Japanese-style Web site, www.slusho.jp, has lots of clues yet undiscovered by the rabid fans who have been scouring the Internet for hints.

The source told Kirk the biggest clue of the trailer is in the line: "I saw it, it's alive, it's huge."

The source also says the sound the "creature" makes is another big clue. He says the creature is an organic, living thing.

I ran across someone referencing the above article article here:
http://www.farpointforums.com/showthread.php?tid=637&page=18

There are additional references to other clues and the such. I am just passing in information.

These pics are quite big one is used for reference as to how well people could have considered its biology.

I get the weird feeling the monster will look like this...

As for how it isnt making a noise when traveling and what the white smoke could be look at his heels.

The monster could be traveling on "jets" of water or gas that entrances people.

I'd rather it be Master Shake from ATHF.
I don't know... the thought of a giant TURTLE wreaking havoc on NYC... just seems.... dumb....
and kind of a cheap knock-off of Godzilla (although I realize it's not, so save your typing).

I suppose I just have faith that JJ Abrams is more inventive, and would create something at least relatively new.

Pray Its More Original Than THAT

I don't think it's going to be something an author already thought of. Or at least I'm hoping it isn't. I could be wrong but I already thought we'd ruled out Sequels and Remakes or was that statement discredited? You'd think books would fall under that (although at the same time it kind of doesn't).

Honestly, I don't think Lovecraft is the only person on the planet who can invision giant monsters from deep abysses and great beyonds.

I just hope it's something far more orignal than that.
