Well here is something I have thought about...

There are 3 roars in the preview.

The 1st roar is accompanied by an earthquake like event and indeed that 1st roar sounds a bit like it came from underground or underwater (Sea)

Then we have the 2nd roar, and a big explosion of a building. (Land)

Then the 3rd roar and the even that follows it is the SOL head FLYING. (Air)

I think it could be 3 monsters, and somehow Rob has found out about this 'myth' being true or something.

Could be Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz?

Just speculating.

covered, pages back (thanks to nighthawk).
seems like a viable option to me, but others tend to disagree.

Somebody on another cloverfield site, my guess would be cloverfield news or project cloverfield, mentioned something about rift being written on the wall in the trailer, then next an article came out about filming a movie in coney island, why not??

What happened to the arthur pike theory it seemed plausible to connect, especially considering we dont have any idea what the monster is?

the camera only zooms in on the fireball the whole trailer. "slusho zoom!"

and the other main hint is "i saw it, its alive, its huge"

What if the fireball explosion watever, IS the monster? id say holy shit it's alive too if there was a fire monster.

spinning cup

ok, i can't catch it, but i swear to god that everytime the slusho cups spins around, i see something either on the bottom of the cup, or for 1 frame of inserted pic. i can't screen cap it fast enough to catch it though.

anybody good enough w/ ripping flash from a site to see if its there, or if i've just spent way too much time at work staring at an animated cup of something that doesn't exist spin around?

Arthur Pike was also connected to the Transformers ARG ("sectorseven.org"). Same with "In Hoc Signo Vinces".

It's also generally accepted that WHOIS information, although it might be used to validate the authenticity of an in-game site, is generally not used as a complex source of clues for said game.

Am I right, those of you that have played in the past?

We're only accepting that through word of mouth. It hasn't been proven to be relevant... yet...

The "It's Alive! It's Huge!" line is being a bit overlooked, cause the "It's Huge!" isn't the key part. When the guy says "It's Alive!" in the trailer leads me to believe that whatever IT is, is something that normally wouldn't be alive or was something that was dead and now alive again.

I've said it once already but I'll say it again. If you're aware that it shouldn't be alive, wouldn't you already be aware of its size also? Wouldn't that make saying "it's huge" redundant?

The fact that he says both "it's alive" and "it's huge" suggests that it is something never before seen.

I totally thought that, too, but one time I got a perfect screen cap while it was spinning, and --- nothing.

What I'm doing right now, and coming to no conclusion, but maybe a smarter person could try, is: I've screen capped the Slusho home page and I've tried pasting it into MS Paint. I have used "fill" on the cups at the bottom, and each one seems to have a different pattern pasted on the front. It's probably nothing, but maybe not and maybe someone else can decifer it.

Those are "artifacts" due to the JPEG compression of the Flash file. For all practical sense, they're random and aren't relevant.

Oh praise the lard. I thought it was just me. I really hope we aren't imagining this!

I think I posted something related to this earlier in the thread... perhaps something with the elements.. earth, air, fire, water... all related to weather or something to that effect.

I was piggybacking off the idea of the 3 monsters from the air, earth and sea... I just took it a step further and stated that perhaps the "monster" in question are manifestations of the elements... who knows...

I'd just like to point out that the shots from the party (the roof specifically) were shot from Brooklyn or southwest Queens.
Also, since I have Thursday off, a bike and a working knowledge of NYC's streets, neighborhoods, if there are any leads any folks would like checked out, let me know (but don't let my girlfriend know Wink ). I'm already planning to head to the area around 401 Broadway to see if anything looks familiar (thank you video ipod)

As someone completely less involved than many of you (although I'm watching your work diligently, I thought I'd throw out a couple ideas.

First: Might be worth it to check google maps new street view feature and see if we can somehow pin point where we believe the building to be. Something there might be helpful (As well as it makes sense for them to put something up for Googles filming and then take it down once the trailer was released.

Second: Right before the apartment shakes in the trailer we can clearly see Ryan Key (the lead singer of Yellowcard). Their new CD came out today and one song is actually called light up the sky. Maybe something on this album (including a possible hidden song or phrase that can only be found by rewinding the CD from the beginning of the first track) may be the "Key" to us progressing in this thing.

Just some ideas. Thanks

a theory for people to poke holes in

how about this being the kraeken (craken, kreaven...whatever spelling you like). that was a monster of enormous size, kept under wraps by posiedon (neptune) until the gods were angered and the beastie was set free to eat a tribute or destroy a village. being basically forgotten and ignored for several centuries would probably tict an egomaniac like zeus. the kraeken was released, bellowed, ripped SOL's head off, sending copper shrapnel showering across the ports & landings of the city, detonating a tanker (or two in the marina) and sank below the surface. only to crawl out of the water to be shot by a rentacop, and cry out in anoyance (doubt it'd hurt much to something that bit), and toss the SOL head.

does japanese lore have a simular creature?

The only trouble with that is, and this has been stated several times, the building doesn't necessarily actually exist IRL- they aren't filming on location where this building fictionally sits- it was filmed in and around LA and on sounds stages, etc...

Furthermore- google may have filmed thier street level shots of that area a year ago in anticipation of launching that feature- JJ Abrams and people working on this project- probably wouldn't have even known about it in time to do anythign about it- its not there are google filming crews circling the sterets every week- that is IF this were an actual site that even existed in NYC IRL...

sixty three degrees.

It's not only a measure of temperature. Latitude & longitude are similarly measured.

If we assume that 63 degrees is one coordinate (likely north), any idea what other number should be the other?

I've done some digging in Google Earth, but not enough. Anyone feel like digging in?
