Re: other possible timing effects

Quote:

One theory I am pondering is the significance of the numbers we are seeing repeated-3 and 6 in particular. we found the first pic (no idea when it was posted) after the movie came out on the 7/3. The next one showed up I think on 7/6 and then pic3 showed up on 7/12. 7/15 was a Sunday- maybe they take Sundays off? I am wondering if we might, in that case, get another picture tomorrow on 7/18... we'll see if that holds water tomorrow- it might be another possible explanation and one I think more plausible than having found a third page- no offense intended but we've found a lot of junk...

I think that it's possible, especially since it's the /18/. If you follow the whole 1, 3, and 6 are important numbers, maybe it's only dates that these numbers can go into (with the exception of 7/3). 6 can be divided by all three, 12 can, but 15 can't. 18 can be, so maybe it's only numbers divisible by 6 (which automatically makes it divisible by 3 and 1). Also, 6 is just deemed significant by the 'can't drink just six'. It might be a number to look out for and try and find possible links to.

Google Earth
Slusho film site

If you type "slusho" into Google Earth, it will zoom in to a spot in L.A. with a couple of different slusho locations on it. If you click the "slusho filming area" mark on the map, it brings up a box that has link to "add1". Clicking on "add1" causes the screen to zoom out and a couple of city blocks to be covered over with a blue box.

Probably nothing, but I have never experienced this on Google Earth before.

maybe thats why they're sending Rob away, he kept telling the slusho he was it's main dude.

gonna go find my mic and whisper sweet nothings to my slusho...

So having a dream the past two nights where the Slusho song figured as part of the soundtrack is okay?

Because I...err....this guy I know...had that happen.

Tell your "friend" that I think it's okay. At least he's not having dreams where this guy "Rob" is being a pain in the ass to find and is sending you all of these cryptic messages about giant killer whales swimming through NYC.

At least, that was from a guy I know. Ahem. (I think his name was Joey Jo-Jo Junior... Shabadoo...) Laughing

Doing it backwards?

Hey - question: Is Japanese read left to right, AKA 'backwards' from an English perspective? I believe this is the case, but I'm certainly no expert.

But if it IS true...does that mean we need to do everything backwards? Like, all the clues we're looking for, the '1 6 3' theories and everything...should we be reading them backwards?

Just a thought.

Japanese Reading
Japanese Reading

Yes, Japanese is read backwards. Thats why the 6 at the bottom of the SLusho website is at the first of the the Japanese sentance instead of the back.

And yes, the sentence does translate to You Can't drink Just 6. A few of the characters were hard to find, but we found them all.

Speaking of how I realy don't understand things about flash...

Ok so in ARGs how important is "Tab order"? I was tabbing through the main menu buttons and it goes 1, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5. You'd think it would go 1, 2, 3, etc... I mean standard tab order usually follows some kind of beginning to end flow.

The tab order on the History page is all kinds of weird as it changes depending on where the seahorse or the fish is in relation to the arrow board that the crab is holding up. Not to mention that sometimes the little girl won't be in the tab order but other times she will.

Other flash thing: Why in the Flash Settings would I allow Slusho! To access my mic or my camera?

Other nit picky thing: The fish on the history page go out of the bounding box where as all the other creatures stick within the boarders of the box.

Personal note: I'm really starting to wonder about this "ARG" I mean you all seem like smart people who understand this stuff, why am I getting the feeling that we're looking at exactly what the site is...something that is supposed to just tie in breifly the dude's shirt to the film to make it feel like its "real" but nothing more.

where is jason?

probably just a coincidence... but at least an interesting read for another ARG: http://www.movieweb.com/news/93/14493.php

Where is Jason?
Jason Cutler is a student film maker as part of the Grudge 2 who disappeared last year...

hope it helps...

I had an idea about ciphers in the text on the history pages, especially because of the faux "japanese-to-english" translation. We already had an idea about the number six being significant so what would happen if one took every 6th word or character? I wrote a small script and fed it a version of the text with all newlines removed:

Code:
Every 6th word, starting with the sixth:

awesome work. could you rerun the script for the 1st and 3rd words as well? that would be a great help... i'm working on something (though it probably won't lead anywhere)...

No, Money, that's not what I meant! Sorry! Must not have stated it correctly.

I know that we read and understand all the Japanese characters on the Slusho site - but what I meant was, do you know how people are writing down every 6th word - or every 1st, 6th, and 3rd word and such? Well, has anyone tried starting from the END of the story instead?

Excuse me, but I am going to have to correct you. Japanese is not read "backwards". The words appear on the page in columns. You start on the top right and read down, then move to the next column over to the left.

If Japanese is written on a straight line horizontally like we read, then it is read from left to right exactly like english. If you want to get into sentence structure, yes, it's very different from english with the verb always coming last, but this is not what you are talking about. The 6 is not in a weird location or anything.

or perhaps we get 3-6-12-24 ? 1st pic on 3rd, 2nd on 6th, 3rd on 12th, 4th on 24th. We'll know by tomorrow I guess.

You Can't Drink Just Six!
What if we mis-read that?

Kinda beside the point, but...
What if we are misreading the whole "You can't drink just six" thing? Maybe it's a warning... Don't drink more than six, mis-interpreted? Instead of "It's so good you're going to drink more than six" it really means "Please oh god no don't drink seven or we're all screwed"...
Just a thought.

I'm sorry but you are wrong Sad
If Japanese is written horizontally then it is read left to right.
If it is written vertically then it is generally read top to bottom going right.
And the exact translation is not " You can't drink just 6" Translator sites hardly ever produce the correct translations at least not for kana and kanji.
The litteral translation is "6 cups only suffice doesn't"
It is simular like French and other foreign languages where the object comes first and the description is second IE: Black Dog -> Chien Noir (Dog Black) in French

The translation is not exact but it still is the same idea.

Christ, I tried http://163.slusho.com/ and it worked, nearly giving me a heart attack.

Turns out it works for anything "...slusho.com". http://sheepbladders.slusho.com/ works, too.

Ack!

When finding new sites, realize this.

They wont be called cloverfield, slusho, or 1-18-08 anything.

Period. If theres more sites out there, they will not be name-connected unless by clue (if this is even an ARG, which Im starting to doubt.)

Watch em just push Slusho as a real drink like he did with the candy bars for Lost...
