Wow, that reminds me of the Arrray Data Recorder file. It seems like this is the Forerunners trying to hold off the Flood long enough to fire the Halos. Someone else posted in another thread, I forget where that why would the Forerunner fire the Halos when the threat of the fleet was "negligible?"

Now it seems like maybe the answer is that it's not the Flood fleet they're talking about, it's the Forerunner fleet trying to attack the Flood host planet. The feint tactics or whatever they were referring to, maybe, were just to distract the Flood and keep them away from the Ark long enough to fire the Halos or to give it one shot at destroying the Flood gravemind before they resorted to firing the Halos. Either that fleet failed or someone got a little jumpy on pushing the trigger?

would make sense i suppose

I don't have spec, but I have a few cents to toss in:

The host world was "raised", not "razed". To "raise" something means to either lift or as one raises a child. To "raze" means to burn (glass, nuke, etc.) to the ground, complete destruction.

It is shortly followed up by a "concentration correction" to .65. I know the number is insignificant, but since there is a target number, it implies a negative feedback mechanism for "concentration". This further implies that it is a very specific range requirement for concentration. (IE biological conditions)

So I changed my mind and here's my spec:

1) Misspelled "razed": The forerunner fleet is falling back and has just witnessed their homeworld overtaken by flood (earth or no), to their dismay. The following "correction" was taken to manipulate the (atmosphere?) planet in order to attempt to kill all flood on it. After all, they are using desperate measures.

2) Host world is a dyson sphere, shield world, etc. In this scenario, this is simply a total fleet report instead of something like a log. First: damage control, situation evaulation. "Host world raised": raised could be the verb (translation) the forerunners use to describe the creation of a dyson sphere. The concentration correction could then refer to creating ideal environments in the "host world", since concentration is typically related with chemistry and biology, not the physics of any other technology.

Another thing helping out idea 2 is that only after identifying the host world as "raised" does (s)he issue the order to "rendevous at 9BK2R6". Basically, "Good job, we're ready! Everyone in!"

What I got out of this was more that the "Host World" was the Flood homeworld (where they think Gravemind is). "Host world raised" I'm not really sure about, but there are other definitions than the ones you listed. I was thinking of this more to mean Host World Located, although I'm not sure why they'd say Raised. What's interesting is "Raised" can mean to force besieging forces to withdraw.

Either way, right after that, the order is given to correct concentration, which I think either means to concentrate the fleet's fire on the Host World or to recalibrate the Halo's to focus on the Host World.

I get the sense that this was a last ditch assault on what they think is the Flood homeworld to try and kill Gravemind; so they wouldn't be forced to use the Halo's. Obviously it failed.

So far in the game, all the clues i've seen seem to point to the communications being generated from a Forerunner A.I. (possibly corrupted by flood/gravemind). My opinion.

I'm making the assumption that this is similar communications. Possibly a log file from the flight of the forerunners. For game purposes, it was used to give us the IP address for Server 2. This is my first ARG, so I don't know if clues are often recycled.

In the conversations between Guilty Spark, Penitent Tangent & MC, hosts were what the Forerunner A.I.s referred to as any lifeform that had enough mass to support the flood.

I don't know about "raised". Correct spelling seems to be an issue within this game.

If it were the Forerunner's home, I would figure they would call it "homeworld". I don't know if Earth would be the "host world". Earth (where the Ark is) wasn't destroyed and I figure that was their fallback point. Again, I'm assuming that when humans are confused as "reclaimers" and "forerunners" by the A.I. that we are somehow involved in the first Ark event (backed up by the web comic). That we are the possible result of the "seeding" that was mentioned.

I took raised to mean "achieved communication link with", as in "Hey, you. Go raise Mr. X on the wireless." Maybe not the first definition that you would think of, but it seems to make sense here. Like what shadeedge said earlier in this thread.

In this sort of narrative, "raise" is, in fact, usually used to imply reaching someone through remote communications. So either they raised as in alerting them, or raised them as in hailing them for communications.
