Good points. Thanks for putting things in focus, kona. By your definitions, and our experience, I'd say we are in an ARE at most (since there is an associated film that will have a definite plot and ending), and fooling around with a promotional ER at most.

I think the broad hope here is that *maybe* the incredible, insane amount of buzz being generated around the 1-18-08 phenomenon will persuade the creators to take a direction with this that they might not have originally intended. Which is really a pretty long shot.

I'm new to ARGs, so please forgive any ignorance on my part.

Is it possible that information is triggered by figuring things out? Like if someone on one of the websites/boards the gamemasters watch figures out some sort of esoteric clue and then they put out another clue?

In this case, I wonder if a thing like the third picture on 1-18-08 was triggered by someone saying a "magic word" or phrase on one of the boards TPTB were watching.

The reason I bring this up here is that I wonder if our goal isn't to solve websites or to do traditional steps to figure out a game. I wonder if instead it is to talk about the possibilities and create more and more buzz about the project. The more we talk and stumble upon things, the more info we get, the more buzz is generated....
