It might be interesting, but it is a fan-made blog, not part of the game.

Defense contractors are not venture capitalists.

hi, i'm following this game and thought i'd just mention that i did a whois on those two codes, figuring that they might be the websites where van put ethan's journal. i put this all in a comment (well, three comments) on nighthawk's blog, but i'll paste it here too for ya:

this info is the same for both websites, by the way. ocala, california doesn't exist. (407) is the area code for orlando, florida, not ca. i haven't called the number yet because it's midnight and it sort of freaks me out ... Smile the netfirms stuff is all legit, it's their real office. and they were both registered 7/16/07, (hopefully) before we all knew about the triton enterprises .pdf, meaning that they are legit.

now the websites themselves have nothing on them, just a "future homepage" template from netfirms.

anyway, i guess the only point i'm making is that there will be new websites coming soonish?

i also personally think this is much more interesting than the 1-18-08 stuff ...

oh, and since this might seem obvious -- there IS an ocala, florida, but their area code is 352, not 407.

i don't know why they put california.

This is very interesting.

If, that is, the pdf press release really did not go up online until the 17th, since the domains were registered on the 16th.

Do we know for sure that the pdf wasn't available on Monday?

Ethan Rohm

I know most people have given up on the idea that EHWR is related to 1-18-08. But I did find one thing that I didn't see in the forums so far and it's pretty obvious (to me at least). On the series Lost (which I admit I don't watch; info is from various fansites and wikis), one of the leaders of "the others" is named Ethan.

Yeah, I know most people mentioned that already, but what they didn't mention is that his surname, which I think was only mentioned once, is pronounced Rom. Most fansites spell it Rom, but many others spell it Rohm. As far as I know, there's nothing in the series showing the spelling of his surname. Why do I think this is significant?

There is a well known chemical company called Rohm & Haas, and Rohm is usually pronounced Rom. So this Ethan Haas may be a tongue-in-cheek reference to Ethan Rohm, and if so, it is or would be a tangential link to the Lost mythos which, of course, would tie it to 1-18-08 (aka Cloverfield).

Just a thought.

Triton's doing a lot of things that defense contractors would never even dream of doing. That argument isn't enough for me.

Registered the day of the press release, apparently. Site's a placeholder. No convincing evidence yet.

Yes, I checked it periodically throughout the day on Monday and everyday since we discovered it.

If this is the first message you have received from me do not give up hope! There are others that have gone before you, the way has been found, you only need to search and you will find the answers you seek. We will all have a role to play. We are getting stronger, our voices will be heard!

I have more of Haas's writings, I found a secure way to transmit them but I cannot make it easy to find them. There are others who would destroy them if they could.

know the stars of Cassiopeia and you will know when you've reached your destination.

The more I read the more I realize Haas was right………

Ethan Rohm anagrams to Other Man- in season one of Lost he was a plant by "the Others" in the Losties camp sent to kidnap Claire and do some espionage. Over the last two seasons of the show, however, he has become a very minor character- a henchman with little on screen time anymore and no decision making clout, no power. I find it unlikely that they would use a minor character linked through some obscure chemical company to lead us to the mythos about a show that is not connected to this campaign. EHWR has nothing to do with any project that JJ Abrams- the creater of Lost- has to do with But hey if you still think it is a viable lead feel free to run it to ground and find out for yourself.

Edited: and what we see of Ethan these days is only in flash back form as Charlie killed Ethan toward the end of season one so they are using a powerless AND DEAD character to obscurely tie this campaign to a show that has no ties to the campaign? I don't think so. Its not like a Rumplestiltskin kind of name- there are lots of Ethans around.
