The talk in Chapter 5 about using "Web Portals" to access Wonderland is "pushing" me to look for encoded web addresses. My first thought was that the dominoes might encode an IP address: 12|6, 11|8, 0|0, standard book of matches = 20 matches --> 126.118.0.20 Unfortunately, the 126.*.*.* range seems to be unassigned.
My next try was 12*6, 11*8, 0*0, 20 --> 72.88.0.20 which is a Verizon address, but no response there.

pushing dominoes? Well, Josephine displays setting up pushing down matchbooks. This is very much like setting up and pushing down dominoes. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Is it just me or does it look like there is faint writing on the inside cover of the open match book.

I noticed. I thought it might just be the cover writing showing through. Could be something.

Check out this interesting page from Google...

Two essays written about Alice in Wonderland... the first 1261 words, and the second 1800 words. Coincidence? I think not. Check out the titles

Hiya Noah
I've not picked up on the significance can you explain?
Importance of Mathematics in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is the 1800 word one and Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is the 1261 word one (I have them in that order rather than the other way round). Maths has always been closely associated with the works what with Dodgson being a bit mathsy and the second has a fairly standard title.

On one of the matchboxes, it's the one underneath another, I believe the front of it reads "Appreciate your fate"
edit// I included a picture of the matchbox I'm talking about. Don't really know if it means anything, just thought it was interesting.

Oh, that one. I'm pretty sure that's just "We appreciate your patronage"

That's all fine and dandy, but kinda hefty to view them. Most definitely something going on there though, there is no way that is a coincidence.

The only significance I can see is the number of words equal the domino pips. 12|6 was the first domino picked up at the coffee shop, and the two at the club were -- 11|8, 0|0. Other than that, I can't see anything remarkable, and I for one won't be purchasing either paper.

No no, I don't think you have to purchase the paper... but the order of the dominoes we've seen so far are, as you've said, the same number of words in two of the papers, both dealing with mathematics. I think it is just a foreshadowing of some math puzzles to come along in the future, nothing more. It does make sense though, that I used a "portal" (google) to search "Alice 1261 1800" and that page was the 3rd or 4th result on the list.
Now when you search, the first result is THIS page, but that's besides the point

We were talking about the inside cover, until fictional_girl asked about the other one. But even if you had figured it out first, there's no reason to be rude about it.
