if they were a form of kana, they could either be

""e-ra", "ki-ra", "na-ma-hu"... basically i don't see any japanese coherence.

looks more like a vertical "VIII" to me.

Well what I find strange about the 3rd pic, is that how the people are reacting doesn't fit together.

Look at that pic, I tried to show where the body parts are.

Girl 1: Normal 'shocked' though calm state, facing forward, not moving or moving fast at all
Girl 2: This 1 is the wierdest for me, the way she walks is strange imho, shocked yet walking slow and not very scared?
Guy 3: Seems to run away almost ducked, sort of like if he would get shot at
Guy 4: Seems to be filming something thats in the back of the image, though in a relaxed position, or "normal"

I'm not saying that it could be anything, I just think its really strange.

Also the 2 girls are probably the same as in the 1st pic where you see 2 half faces.

I dont think it's safe to come to any conclusion from a single snapshot without any other information regarding the situation.

i also semi-color corrected the photo so you can see the figures better.

it's obvious the figure in the far back is holding either a camera or a megaphone-type device, since it is so near his face.

the man on the far left seems to either be wearing a helmet like a soldier or has a very round haircut. I'm leaning toward soldier based on the "military" involvement shown on the slusho film shoot notices being posted.

it is also clear the women are NOT the ones from the trailer and from the first picture posted on the official site.
