Do you suppose that "send out the signal" could mean that they may be calling people? I mean the Halo3.com website did have a section for adding your cellphone to your registration info.
I put my home phone in there instead. I wonder if they'll use it?
On second thought maybe not, I mean would they actually call outside the US?

It's entirely plausible that they would call people regarding the ARG. I think they could very well make calls inside the U.S., and maybe the U.K. as well. It might be less possible for other areas of the world.
ILB had people using payphones across the country, so why not call people at their cell phones?
EDIT: Fixed a double-negative

You guys are way ahead of me. When I first saw this, I though, "Man, this would be so cool to have as a ringtone. Now I can have double the embarrassment when I answer my cellphone in public!"
I don't know how you would hide it as a flash file, other than name a text or picture file "filename".swf or "filename".flv

I really don't think ANYTHING is hidden in what we've been given so far (except for maybe the web page itself). I'm going to go with thebruce and wait patiently for tomorrow's releases. I'll be checking at and a bit after midnight as well, I'll post here if I find anything.

I always found that part kind of weird.

I would assume that means text messages, but who knows. I think it could definitely turn into something though.
Also, is the background image gone from Halo3.com for anyone else?

Has anyone noticed that within the FLA file, that Sprite 23 has layer called Label Layer, and that the frames are named:
ageGate, morgue, morgue2, intro and room?
Could it be possible that this screen saver is set to 'activate' on a specific date to allow access to the next server?

I think that's it exactly. AgeGate is the standard term for checking someone's age before entering a site. This would be consistent with all of the halo3 related sites that check your age through msn or whatever.

did anyone see this? :
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur Adipisici elit sed eiusmod tempor Incidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua
its on this page (got it from ABO)
http://uk.samsungmobile.com/promotion/halo3/mobiledownloadsringtones.jsp
could this be the key to the next step?

Assuming its not just standard Lorem ipsum placeholder text what could it possibly be a key to?
Its latin but translates to gibberish.. the original text doesnt say anything relevant and other than creating the original work the lorem ipsum text is based off of the author hasnt done anything remarkable.

Here's a translation of the text on the download page. Some of it is gibberish though.
Lorem itself pain he is amet consectetur To come up to elit but her transitory Cut when to sink and pain magna some
Lorem
Amet
Consectetur
Elit
Magna
I doubt that this is gibberish. It may not all piece together but maybe moving the words around a bit will make it make sense.

Only problem is, there's no code for the flash to do anything. Right now "AgeGate" is just a label. There is a line of script on the same frame that I've been looking into but to no avail...
_global.SHELL.registerSection("forground", this);
It seems like it should do something, like set a registry value as a toggle as though recording we've visited, but there's little to no documentation for "registerSection" let alone in a flash environment. There is a reference to a Mac command relating to interapplication communication with Edition Manager...
Otherwise, the screensaver does nothing. There's no code, no hidden functions or buttons... at best, IMO, viewing the screensaver sets a toggle for a future flash/screensaver where if the toggle is on, then it knows we've watched the screensaver and does..something new.
But at the point, that's spec, and pretty far fetched.
Right now, the screen saver is a screen saver.
----
And lorem ipsum is gibberish placeholder text. Why it's beside a glyph solely on the ringtones download page is beyond me... but there's no code in the message itself or its translation.
