Guys, Charles is indeed on the ARGN announcement mailing list, so he's covered. Smile

He must've just missed our launch announcements for Acheron and Metacortechs. Maybe the announcements get deleted as spam, I dunno.

With Orbicon, at least, we have a very thin curtain. So in this particular case I think a mail from a PM would be fine. It becomes a bit more of a problem with a full on ARG. I'd guess that a very quiet tipoff from a PM would be OK as long as Charles is prepared to keep quiet about his sources.

I sent him an announcement about AWARE, plus links to the Rabbithole for it, and the forum thread involved here and a link to Collective Detective. If someone would keep it in mind when "Orbicon: The training grounds" gets on its feet and running, if someone would kindly send him similar info?

Thank you Magesteff!!!

This concerns me. There are several things that can go wrong in the situation - something could come up and Nash has to postpone or cancel, for example - and now the New York Times is sitting there and monitoring the game for activity. If it doesn't happen as planned, the NYT is going to get a bad impression.

Well, it concerns me too. I would hate to have to spend more time in Iraq than what I have to, but as of today I should be home in couple of weeks.

We can't go around saying "what if" to everygame that comes around. Let us take a look at recent history. Hidden Alliance is still in hiding. Acheron's server died, arose on the third day, hung around to get the rest of book of John done, and then went to heaven. Any of these things could of give a "bad impression." None of us are professional game developers. None of us are perfect. None of us can see the future. None of us want to fail.

I want to have a successful game and many of the people on this site are already helping me to create it. I will be successful, and I will have more resorces, than a phone and gov't computer that keeps crashing soon. Everything I do I am doing for everyone here, not to make money, but to give a little back to all the people who supported me while I fought in Iraq.

Personally, I think that sending announcements to the press either needs to be initiated by the PMs or sanctioned by them, unless it's something that's here and immediate.

Last time I checked I fight to defend the first ammendment of the constitution. And who would stop me from sending something to anybody about someone elses game. As a PM I encourage ANYONE to tell people about my game. Word-of Mouth makes a game successful. I can have the resources of Majestic, and if 20 people were all that played, I failed.

So in closing, please everyone, don't be so uptight. Let us just make the ARG community pleasant by enjoying the fact that we are growing and soon other people will more inclined to join. Talk about things, and enjoy them for what they are. A way to get away from real-life for a while.
