I like the theory, and I can see that you put a lot of work into figuring it out, the only thing is that I just checked to see if a few URLs were available and foundthemovie.com is available (as is .net, .org, etc.) and that just seems like such an obvious URL for them to have snapped up if the movie was indeed called FOUND.

I'd previously wondered if the capitalization in the email meant anything too (ASS, THAT, and FOUND were all capped) but couldn't figure anything out - however after reading your post I realized I'd read right past the whole "give us a clue" line. Definitely bares further scrutiny...

People understandably thought that it pointed to the ass at the Slusho site... however every pixel of that site has been analyzed over and over over the last days with no clues found.

I thought the same - maybe the ass found the oven mitt? Of course we only see him thinking about it, so maybe not.

This name seems just as likely as a bunch of other name speculations. The name sounds more like a psychological thriller movie, not a giant monster. The evidence you have to support it is a little iffy - you can come up with a bunch of names, and then find evidence to support your claims.

It's good, but only as good as other theories.

were there any other official press releases about the movie where they might have had other words in CAPS? What about MYSTERY or other words in the trailer (other than WE WILL MISS YOU ROB)

I'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Lots of people named Abrams, and nothing in the registration information that ties in remotely anywhere with the previous information we've found.

Re: [SPEC] Real Title Found?
Real Title Found and it's not monstrous

I think I may have found the real title of the movie.

"FOUND"

Reason# 1

There is a good speculation going around that the movie starts with either children or the army finding the video camera and footage in a devastated New York.
(very Blair Witch like)
So Found seems to fit right in.

I don't know, like fishy mentioned that seems a bit of a conclusion to jump to and 'Found' doesn't sound all that great a monster movie title.

That and I don't personally believe there's any connection to Lost, but that's me...

Quote:
Harry at Ain't It Cool News said about his note from JJ Abrams that: "So JJ Abrams wrote me to give us all a clue, cuz we're at square one of this mystery!"

But there isn't any clue!
Saying the fans only found one of the sites isn't really a clue.
So where can the real clue be, in capital letters in plain site.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can't wait to talk to you more about it -- of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you'll know more than I will.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive behind, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Stay cool the rest of the summer -- and thanks per usual for AICN!

JJ

I've also wondered about that on more then one occasion, AICN has the reputation for not backing up information it reports as fact and in one incident actually reported a false rumor as fact... Considering I don't believe we've seen mention of this message without it being someone reporting said email being sent to AICN I wonder if we should really consider it genuine... there's something in 'Abrams' wording that bugs me.

Maybe that is why it is japanese so you read from the end instead of the beginning because after all THE BEGINNING IS THE END.

Well, that only works if Ethan Haas does appear to be linked to this despite how it's looking...

Although I'm not sure couting back to the 801st word was intended to be part of the overall Cloverfield mystery.

It's an interesting theory, certainly.

The only other thing I can think of is at times studios can register domains they may never use simply to avoid someone else getting them and using them... companies have tajen people to court because some blogger happens to have a URL that is slightly similar to the company's own web address.

Despite AICN's somewhat controversial reputation, I think there is ZERO chance they posted a fake letter from JJA. First of all, they are very well known, which means a fake letter would be brought to JJA's attention quickly, and they would have to post a retraction. Second, look at the letter. If I was going to post a fake letter to point people down some imaginary path, I would have done a better job.

I'm gonna have to call that letter legit. Doesn't mean the title is "found", but It's an interesting theory.

I guess we'll see when JJ speaks at ComicCon. I am still pulling for Monstrous because it's clearly registered by Paramount, but this FOUND deal may have legs as a direction to go ARG-wise.

Perhaps we should be thinking about the company/organization that is brought in to do the clean up? I think it would probably be FEMA, but unless JJ and GW are buddies, that's a big stretch that FEMA would be IG. But maybe we can find a S7-like organization like FEMA.

Yarmouth is just a short ways away from me. I did some digging and found that the phone number does exist (no real surprise). When I called it there was no response, will try again later. Got this confirmation from the phone company (through a buddy of mine)...

(902) 749-5331 is a land line based in Yarmouth, Ns, NS
The registered service provider is Aliant Telecom**.

If this does turn out to be in-game, it could make some sense. Yarmouth is a small community on the southern tip of Nova Scotia. It is a seafaring / fishing community on the Atlantic seboard...perhaps something was found there... and makes its way to NYC....

Far fetched? Yes. Plausible? Perhaps, perhaps not. Thoughts?

Yeah one thought, TROUT, all of it just Trout, from the quoting of Ethan Haas to reading english text R-L because you read japanese R-L. If you need a stamp to fish for it, it's probably a Trout.

I'd try not to bother some poor NS company. If it's registered to NS, then it's most likely OOG. all of abrams previous "Experiences" have been run here in the US. I'm not saying it's not "possible" but I personally wouldn't start ringing them over & over. They've probably already had to take their phone off the hook from other sites/forums finding their site & it's whois. Smile
