Wow! That looks great. If it's a real poster, even the poster makes it look like an awesome movie.

I was just going to point out the Paramount logo, seems someone already has. But yeah, there are two possibilities:
- This is real.
- This is fake, and someone's getting sued.

I'm all for the idea that it's not the title, and that its a teaser. Or do we have confirmation yet?
And isn't Abrams supposed to announce the title tomorrow?

This can't be fake.
Firstly, it's impossible to recreate reflections of that quality on plastic with any image editing program.
Secondly, even if they did thave that obscene level of skill, they would have spent several months making that reclection layer(s). They wouldn't have had time to make the poster itself, becuase the trailer hasn't been out long enough.
This is definitely real. It's reasonable to guess that the poster was sent out to shops, but they were told not to put them on sale untill Comic Con, because JJ is anouncing the movie's name then, and most likely the poster wil go on sale there, too, after the announcement. The person at the comic store was just either incompetant or wanted to put it out for the fans.

i think people calling "Fake" are talking about the actual poster, not the picture of the poster. Someone could have created the poster in photoshop and them printed it out and put it in plastic and try to sell it at this particular convention/show.

I doubt that was made in photoshop. It's obviously done using 3D models, and it would take a long time for one person to do that, and it is too profesional looking to be done by some over zealous fan.
I'm sure well find out at Comic Con tomorrow, so hold your breath untill then.

I wonder if there's some way to reverse engineer the word "MONSTROUS" from something on the Slusho site? Or even 1-18-08.com?

Real.... All it takes is for a theater to get a couple extra teaser posters and it ends up in a shop for sale.
The cost of actually printing out a digital print is to high for someone to try to make money. Even on a short run of prints if they went as far as having them print offset. The demand isn't high enough.
Monstrous is in line with JJ projects having one word titles. There's nothing wrong with the name. It's a monster movie for dog's sake.

Reverse engineer? Do you mean translate? No, I don't see the symbol for "Kaiju" (monster, monsterous) on the site.

No, I mean, see if it's hidden somehow in the text of the history page or elsewhere. Maybe in the trailer. Though all I can think of from that is the letters AKM, ACE and ABZ.

NAh, I've looked at the decompiled SWF files of both sites. Neither has anything of the sort.

Sorry, maybe I'm not being clear:
I wonder if it's possible to find the word MONSTROUS, anagrammed, or say, spelled out with the first letters of certain words, in the text on the history page. That way, if there were other hidden words in there, it might help us figure out what they were.
Does that make sense?

yeah Flan that makes sense. Both sites have been decomplied, torn apart, zoomed in on and generally manhandled every which way. The only place left for a clue to hide would be in the text, in the form of a code or anagram. (Assuming there is a clue at all) But the danger is that if you look hard enough you can eventually make any connection you want, regardless if it makes sense or not.
