First and foremost, JJ Abrams said they aren't connected via AICN, which although plenty of disparaging comments have been made about Harry Knowles, he is connected and his website has a long history of accurate hollywood industry information.

The connection via The Class is interesting, but it's not really the way ARGs work. There's no game to it. It's just speculation and random trivia. Sure it's an odd coincidence, but what does it mean? How does it factor into the story? And why would an ARG leave the bounds of it's fictional reality and make a connection not only behind the scenes of the game, but behind the scenes of the movie? It just doesn't work that way.

So far the only concrete link between Ethan Haas and Cloverfield was the Parasitemovie webpage... as it's been pointed out due to it's really questionable quality that site is surely a fake and so the only thing to connect them is happening to be released to the net at the same time.

Whilst that is an amusing coincidence... it isn't fact... and as there have been no futher connections that stand beyond the shadow of a doubt it's fair to say that unless proven otherwise, neither are connected.

It is really, really weird though. Could it be a conscious game jack by the Alpha Omega people? Is that even feasible given the time frame? Could they have gotten a hold of the cast list soon enough?

The last status update to the Cloverfield imdb page was on Jul 6. Which would be (I'm assuming) when the cast list went up. I think the Ethan Haas puppetmasters just got lucky with that connection and let the cloverfield hype merge with their ARG to get tons of free promotion and hype.

Were the ethan haas sites registered before Jul 6? It's impossible to get that lucky. I mean: they just happen to start up their post-apocalyptic arg right when the trailer hits, and the dude's name is Ethan Haas? Either it's a game jack or Abram's is messing with us.

Im new too; well, except for the Halo video game ARGs.

But could they possibly have jumped on to gather some attention? It doesn't sound like it, but its entirely possible.

Is the creation date June 7th or July 6th? It looks like June 7th to me, but I'm not that familiar with the whois thing.
