The mere list of websites in the references sticky contains nothing of previously speculated ideas and possible solves, etc. With over 300 pages of ideas fumigating on this thread, it's impossible for everyone to get on track with everyone else unless there's some sort of "The Story So Far" thread, much like there was with Sector Seven. The disparaged and chaotic nature of the threads here only make it harder for those new to 1-18-08 to come to any sensible conclusions not previously discussed. That being said, instead of turning away new players by being unnecessarily vicious toward them, we should redirect them to a very obvious sticky thread on previously thought out theories, speculations, and solves that has been either connected to the references sticky or on its own sticky page.

That's what the Search is for.

But if you can come up with a concise list of what's been discussed and dismissed and can provide reference links to it, I'd gladly make a sticky.

I thought they already had one of those...

Re: new clue in trailer??

so i downloaded the HD quicktime file from apple and dragged it into final cut pro. this gave me a video file with 4 tracks of audio, which you can listen to separately. now, since the video is in surround sound, each track has different sounds on it from the mix.

the main track has the man saying "i saw it!! it's alive!! it's huge!!". when i mute that track, i no longer hear it's huge at the end, and now i hear:

"i saw it! it's alive!"

and another person says "in the subway!" (possibly "it's in the subway!").

i will try to upload the audio file (any recommendations on a good site to upload to?) but can anyone make anything of this?

you can upload audio to the video section of tinypic

Okay as the original poster I think I want to bolt this one up, I think its has come over more as an outright complaint rather than a suggestion that might help new people joining the thread. As someone rightly posted there has actually been little to no discovery (facts so far) and this is reflected in the reference. Not worth expending huge amounts of effort over. Sad

GL all.

Bump - New people please look at the reference thread before trapesing through hundreds of pages of ideas notions and far flung guesses.

I think the wild speculation is part of the fun. It's all in persuit of something and the way I see it, getting there is far more likely to be much more fun than when we actually GET THERE. IF you know what I mean, I've said it before and i'll say it again, it's near impossible for this movie to live up to the hype that precedes it. It would have to be genius to come even close. So I say let's enjoy this while we can because it's likely there's going to be a whole lot of shock anger and/or dissappointment in the road ahead...

This may have been mentioned, but whatever.

It seems weird to me that even though the trailer is so basic (they don't mention the title or anything or have credits in the theatrical trailer) they still showed the bad robot thing. or, you know what, that doesn't even matter. in any case,

could clues be hidden at badrobot.com? I thought it was worth a look, so i went to badrobot.com and all it is is a picture..... isn't that strange? A production company with no real website?

At the bottom of the page there's blank space that's highlightable (as if it was black text on the background? When i highlighted it and pasted it into a word document, it was just a bunch of squares.

the source has a lot of stuff that i don't see having a point on a page with just a picture?

what do you guys think?

(we think you don't need the bold font -- catherwood)

new clue??

ok i have posted the audio i got from the trailer here. it also seems like they don't say jason (although this could just be a result of the audio being panned to another channel right when he says it).

any thoughts? has anyone else tried to deconstruct the audio in another program?

Hmmmm...
Looking at the source, the 'squares' are just spaces (nbsp).
The page was apparently last updated on 6/12/07.
Created in Word so that always adds extra crap.

AOTS just claimed...
Cloverfield

Just this last hour, G4's Attack of the Show announced on its segment 'Rumor Mill' that this is not a Voltron or Godzilla movie, but based on HP Lovecraft Stories. Depending on the validity of the source, it looks like Cthulhu is comin to town. Personally, I think this would so rock, but it was stated on the 'RUMOR mill' so, I have my doubts. Not many though. All the evidence has pointed toward squid head, IMO.

It does seem that Cthulhu could encompass:

air, land, and water

Boy, wouldn't it be cool to see THAT on the big screen!

It's not him. The Cthulhu is huge. And by huge, I mean mountain size, he wouldn't just break the skyline, he'd destroy it. And also, the second he steps foot out of the sea, it's game over. No clean up. No video footage. No nothing. Just The End.

But you're right. I would throw money down to see a movie with him in it so fast...

My bet is a massive blob of tentacles and horribleness. Not Cthulhu, but love craft inspired. Like a massive Shoggoth.
