Water Level

Wow! The super high res image is awesome. Assuming that:
A) The poster is not fake, and
B) The artistic elements shown here are really closely tied to what goes on in the final movie

then one thing that strikes me is that the water level seems to be almost right up to the bottom of Lady Liberty's skirt. The real statue is, of course, on an island and sitting on top of a fairly tall pedestal/building. Doesn't the poster make it look like that would all be underwater?

Maybe the point of view in the poster just makes it look that way, or maybe the artist just didn't bother with the detail of the pedestal. But when I saw what looked like really elevated water levels it made me think back to the whole "63 degrees in New York in January" issue. Something is definitely hot and glowing behind those buildings.

I'm sure the poster is real. It's too profesional looking to be fan-made or anything of the sort.

maybe there was flooding from all the destruction??

but then how can there be destruction already if the monster is in the trail of water?????

the head of the s.o.l. can't cause that much damage can it?

Well, the sense I get from this image is that the source of the destruction is very fast moving. We still see debris flying off of the Statue of Liberty, we see the wake in the harbor, and we see that it's plowed through several skyscrapers (and no, I don't think that destruction is meant to be seen as caused by the flying head). The still fresh debris and wake suggest it all just happened moments ago. However, the fact that helicopters are already hovering over the scene seems to contradict that. This recalls the discussion related to Picture 4 on 1-18-08.com in which people wonder why soldiers are so quickly seen in the streets.

Whatever it means, it's a very cool poster. Someone obviously put some time into that.

it would have to be super fast to leave its trail in the water and cause all that damage?

i dont think they created the poster thinking people would analyze it....

regardless, its a cool poster and im gonna buy it sooner or later...

Perhaps, though, the destruction had already happened and the trail in the water is the monster leaving the city?

Umm, has anyone ever said if they purchased the poster? Did they have more than one poster? Did they talk to the people selling the poster about where they got it? Just seems like good stuff to know.

i have to post in big font so the person realizes this

BUY THE POSTER, AND TALK TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SELLING IT ON WHERE THEY GOT IT

P.S.: WHEN COME BACK, BRING PIE -SPACEBASS

Edit: Seriously though, yelling doesn't really increase the validity of your suggestion in the slightest. I do think it's a good one, however. -SpaceBass

the monster from the Clash of the Titans has three claws and a "thumb" it came out of the water. CotT came out in 1981 as well (1981-2004) on the roof of Robs Apt building.

I knew a kid named Rob that was born in 1981, what's your point?

There's no feasible way that's relevant.

Youre right. No way that a 4 armed monster with 4 digits tall enough to tear down buildings and rip the head of the SoL off and toss it down to central park has anything to do with it. Glad youre staying open minded.

On a side note in the old movie, the monster was called the kraken. Kraken can be associated with both Cthulhu and the Leviathan Very Happy theres some more possible red herrings for ya.
