One school of thought is that the movie trailer IS the game, that there are clues deliberately embedded in the trailer. These people are forced to track down *every* detail, not knowing which one might be THE clue we've all overlooked.

The other school of thought is that the movie trailer is just a rough cut from the actual movie, and as such will not contain clues. A box in the kitchen is just a box, "set dressing" as they say in the biz. But during many ARGs and non-ARGs, when there is nothing else to do, a spontaneous game of "Find The Source" arises. People enjoy playing detective for the pleasure of discovery, like a treasure hunt.

Whatever their motivation, these kinds of side hunts can bring people together. I don't discourage them, but I do keep it all in perspective, whatever they uncover.

Nice bunch...

We talk about the freaking cracker box for clues for how many days? and you guys thinks it's dopey that I'm looking at the actual people in the trailer?

There's two reasons why we're looking for more information about the box:
1. Closure - it's one of the few things in the trailer that's somewhat clearly seen but we can't fully identify. We know it's likely to not be a clue, but we want to be able to identify everything in the trailer for the sake of being able to have identified everything possible in the trailer.
2. We haven't been given any real puzzles, so this is something we can look for while we wait for a real puzzle to appear. Hopefully by the end of today we'll have one. If not, I have other hobbies to pursue.

I get it...

I'm just trying to bring up new things I've noticed and get feedback.

The guy in the tux looks really familiar. I think in the movie there will be oeverlapping storylines. You'll see people from one event being videotaped popping up in the chaos on other people's videotape.

The man in the tux is obviously coming from a Black Tie affair... a possible media event perhaps. There's always someone interviewing or videotaping at those events. There's a reason we get such a good face shot of him in the trailer. In the movie will see him at the event before the Monster shows up and crashes the party.

The guy 5 seconds later with the mouth guard/toy vampire teeth... I have no idea.

I assumed he was coming from an off-broadway play or something.

I doubt it's a clue. I mean if you walk around NY it really isn't uncommon to see a couple dressed to the nines every now and then. They probably just threw it in to give the scene a sense of realism.

That could be true...

However... obviously these actors were directed to walk right up to the camera and to look into it... if you look at the HD trailer frame by frame, that happens with very few characters. All these shots are orchestrated to look exactly as they do.

Tuxman was cast and placed in that shot for a reason. They are no where near broadway and 42nd. People in tux's are not a common site.

I know becaise I live in NY.

And it's just a guy in a tux doesn't explain the guy with the white stuff in his mouth.

We've already established that the scene of the party takes place near Broadway and Canal, on the edge of Chinatown. And no doubt that everyone was placed in the shots for obvious reasons, pacing or dialogue or clues or otherwise. But, yeah...
Beating a dead horse here.

How...

is discussing Tux man or the freaky mouth guy beating a dead horse?

I want people's take on them... not just that they exist.

is it really strange to see a guy in a tux at any given date and time in manhattan?

the other guy: is that white lipp-glos and maybe a fake duck beak mask or something like this

http://www.caufields.com/index.asp?txtSearch=duck+beak&PageAction=PRODSEARCH

both from a theatre-show? audience(tux man with wife) and actor(strange vampire duck man)?

Hmmm

If you watch the guy closely, he defintely has something in his mouth. Not on his face.

Tuxman has a woman on his arm that's dressed up too.

Umm, there are plenty of OFF-broadway theatres around that area (NY Theatre Workshop, Metropolitan Playhouse, Barrow Street Theatre). It's not uncommon to see one or two people walking around in tuxes.

I know... I live in NY. Smile

Off Broadway

Yeah but how many people wear a tux to an off broadway show?

I think they're coming from a party. You don't just throw a guy in a tux into a shot just to add flavor to a crowd scene. And I know I've seen this guy with speaking parts in movies... I just can't for the life of me remember where.

He'll be in other scenes in the movie... I'll wager.

The other guy just looks odd...

Just curious -- someone earlier in this thread wrote that the rotation of the pics on the 1-18-08.com site was due to an accumulated error. But (I think) others are saying that the same script is called to generate all four images to random positions on the screen.

So why do only two rotate, and two remain static?
