Hey guys. I addressed this on the IMDB board, but I wanted to defend my reasons for not buying a poster. By the way, I'm the one who took the hi-res photos.

I went over to Frank and Son today and the booth was closed and gated up. I took the photos through the grid. I asked the neighboring vendor if they knew anything and they told me the guy had gone off to comic-con.

So no, I'm not a cheapskate:

When theyre on the roof (Use the 1080 trailer) and the projectiles are coming at them they all make for the door. right before the projectile hits closest to the door look on the right side of the door way.

I think it's interesting that there are pieces flying off of the SOL. It would show that the head had JUST been ripped off.

DAMN!! Can you blow up the rest of the poster that big in sections maybe??

I'd love to see (as I'm sure everyone else would) closer on the water, as well as the city.......maybe break the poster up in thirds or quarters and blow them up to the same size??

That would show a lot more.

Is the viewing angle in the poster off? Which way does Lady Liberty face in comparison to Lower Manhattan? Is that supposed to BE lower Manhattan in the poster...is Battery Park completely covered in water? And if this ends in Coney Island then the creature has to make a BIG u turn and is very far from. Or did the creature just come back thru leaving that trail in the water? IF you look at pictures of subjects from behind a boat it leaves a trail in the water similar to the one in the poster.....just putting some ideas out there.

The progress of the supposed monster is somewhat confusing. The poster seems to indicate it emerges from the sea, passing the SOL (it looks as though it was torn from behind) before going through the city proper. Yet in the trailer, the explosion downtown happens well before the SOL's head is assumedly torn off and thrown, suggesting it's moving from the city back to the sea.

Unless the monster carried the SOL head with it, caused the explosions we see in the trailer, then threw the head?

I believe that is what some people have said before, simply because of the distance that the monster would have to have thrown the head if it threw it straight after ripping it off the SOL.

Also, or those questioning the positioning of the SOL in relation to the city: I would guess alterations have been made in the poster for the sake of dramatic effect. The statue may be at a poor angle from the POV of the poster in real life (the upraised arm could block the head, or lack thereof, for example) and has been rotated to give a better indication of the damage that has been sustained - giving a far more unnerving effect as a result. This is supposed to be a movie poster, not a landscape photograph, geographical precision is more often than not going to be sacrificed for the sake of portraying the action.

as with any peice of art it is open to a certain amount of artistic impression to get the effect required, this happens all over the place even in advertising. we have already seen in the trailer that the building positions on broadway are geographically correct so it would be fair to assume that the SOL is in that position cos it works and was how the director (or who ever) envisioned the look of the poster.

what i find interesting is that the bulk of the building destruction is low down where as the claw marks are high up. this could suggest a few things, 1) that the monster crawls on all 4 legs but can rear up, 2)the monster is tall but is either very wide at its base or has a large powerful tail that does the lower damage.
also as has already been said the damage low down looks to have let the sea water in down onto coney.
also could the poster be of the following morning? it could be dawn which would explain the subdued (but not dark) lighting, the presence of the helicopters and the trail in the water as if the monster has just left NY without being caught/killed.
