I never really noticed it before, but there are actual fairies right on the CTW site, that coupled with the six-fingered hand has me in The Fairy Star camp.
The 6-fingered hand (under the Fairy Star) reaching out for the mortal hand, beckoning to the "Otherworld " ....may also be an allegory. For WE the players, will ourselves be crossing over into a sort of "Otherworld".

the moon (coin) on the index page is clickable. For now though it only takes you to the info page. Not much but it sure looks like things are getting ready to start really soon.

To Dia and all!!!
Great Observations about the Fairy Star!!!
It all seems to fit together so nicely I will have to agree with the previous posts about our worlds intertwining.
It is always better to look a little deeper than just going with your first idea I am finding..Thanks for the tips to playing this game.. I am a greenhorn but already with the good advice on this board it really does help!!!!

the wait continues? hey all -- drizj pointed this out over on wishchasers, but i haven't seen it mentioned here:
Quote:
This is from the FAQ section at http://www.chasingthewish.com/faq.html
"(7) When does the game start?
Due to the nature of Chasing The Wish, no exact launch date will be
announced. Instead the game will begin by the registered players being
contacted through some means by an in-game character or entity. It
will then be up to the player to respond to that contact and uncover
the beginning elements of the game. The game is scheduled to begin
sometime before Feb 28, 2003."
I believe that date has been changed from Jan something, to as it now
appears above.
Looks like we may still have a-ways to go before the start.

trailer spec after watching all three trailers (and they're supposed to be hella fuzzy and pixelated, right?) the basic plot thread seems to be a father embarking on a journey to research the death of his child, who appears to have been killed in an accident (fire?). it looked to me at the end of the third trailer that he was actually leaving his job, though i couldn't tell whether he had quit or was fired. but i sort of got the sense that it was a voluntary and somewhat amicable (yet stressful) departure.
maybe it's too early to be trying to read this much into the game; maybe it's too obvious to be worth stating; maybe you completely disagree with my late-night-been-staring-at-computer-screen-all-day interpretation.
anyone?

it was very fuzzy and hard for me to see as well, but i thought that was because it was playing on Quicktime (and my computer has better resolution with Real Player).
i thought it was an automobile accident, not a fire, just that the fire truck w/ paramedics were responding. i thought i saw parents in the park w/ a child. then i saw a couple of cars and the paramedics walking towards the vehicles. there was a scene where the man was looking at a computer screen, but it was too fuzzy to see what was there.

If the man did lose his child(ren)/family in some sort of accident, maybe "chasing the wish" represents his quest to find some way to bring them back through some supernatural means. Anybody know where the nearest Pet cemetery is?

Found a picture and information about the labyrinth shown in the latest trailer. http://www.crystalinks.com/labyrinths2.html (scroll down until you find the one labeled The Man in the Maze)

What do you mean time is running out? NO ONE runs out on James Ingrahausen, especially that tramp Sally. If only I'd known that she wasn't really going for cigarettes... *sob*
/me breaks the tension of waiting with humor, again. Bad humor, but humor nonetheless. i'mm all about slapstick and low expectations

Damn that Sally! She is a She-Devil in a Bikini I tell ya...but Jamesi, come on...you know Sally is an educated woman...you know she thought Cigarette smoking was bad for your health...
There was your first clue staring you smack down in the middle of the face and you never saw it...damn that Sally...she was good...real good I tell ya...
Lol....
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but in the trailor section Video 2 and 3 are available now...2 we have seen before but 3 is new...and long...there are some new clips in the video with mostly re-mixed older things...however there are two spots that are very clear...if even for a second...one is the page of script in the book, and the other was that fuzzed out group of symbols that for just a brief second are clear...
Unfortunately, I have only the 56k option so my video is still not the clearest...anyone out there have cable that can freeze frame those two spots I mentioned that could post them as well so we can work on them?
Thanks!
John

I have cable but for whatever reason CANNOT get the trailers to work. I did finally (after about 5 minutes) roll over to #1 but all I got was the little 3 symboled box...bah!
Any suggestions?
