My experience with Myspace pages is that if you have a friend and then remove them or perhaps their account gets deleted by Myspace for some reason, the count is screwey after that. So, maybe there were a couple other profiles that were set up and friends for these and then they got deleted. Maybe it was decided those profiles were not needed or something.

Who knows, but I am guessing its more of a Myspace thing than a Cloverfield thing.

has anyone mentioned the word, franchise? if this is gold, then bet on more of these. it's logical, japan is to godzilla as usa is to Clover. and there's a ton of clover's. JJ's reaching high, and with a bunch of yuppies. that's all.

People Rob would like to meet; a mixture of trite (Lennon), trendy (Gondry), fanboi (Keena), interesting (Tesla) and personal (Grandma).

Tesla is the only one who stands out (grandma too, but who knows what that's about). Tesla was one of the greatest minds in history, and invented many many things, but was most known for establishing alternating current as the means of delivering electricity to the masses. He's also known for his theory of wireless electrical transmission (how this works is too complicated to get into). This could be a clue; the lights going out at the first roar is unlikely to have been caused by an outage, since the whole place came back up too quickly. I would also assume it was city-wide. A massive power drain makes more sense, so this might indicate that the monster is able to absorb electricity through the charged atmosphere.

Beyond that, I can't determine if there are any other clues there. Oh, he also likes the White Stripes, so that's cool. For the most part, it seems like all of the characters' likes and dislikes are purely random and generated out of the usual cliche tastes that myspace users seem to have, with an occasional obscure reference thrown in. I would concentrate on Rob's Page and Hawk's for legit clues; perhaps Beth's too. The others are just filler, and I think the wiccan reference is a red herring.

I was just browsing the profiles and noticed that under the books section in Lily's profile she wrote, "House of Leaves - READ IT, it's incredible!!! The Corrections, Everything is Illuminated". I realize there are 3 books with these titles but strung together like that, it spoke to me.

House of Leaves seems to be a very strange book, with stories inside stories. The Wiki for House of Leaves was an interesting read. It suggested the book, "developed a cult following through gradual release over the Internet." Some of the ideas for an ARG could have come from this book. Hell the book seems like one.

For example, under Foreign languages, it reads, "At different times, Truant says: "Known Some Call Is Air Am". Although it appears to be a random string of words, it is actually phonetically equivalent to "Non sum qualis eram", Latin for "I am not as I was"." That is sort of how Mezin Source from the ethanhaswasright game/puzzle writes their text. Note: I am not suggesting a link.

Another example could be under Appendices where it says, "the Editors suggest that in order to better understand Johnny, the reader should turn to the letters from his mother (House of Leaves 72). Other entries appear to contain only disorganized fragments that could not be fit in elsewhere. These fragments, including poems, photocopies of scraps of paper, collages, notes, quotes, etc., may contain clues to some of the novel's mysteries." MySpace anyone?

I will be taking the fictional characters advice; I will read House of Leaves.

Yeah House of Leaves was an amazing book
i read it last year but i dont think there's any significance between 1-18-08 an and it at this time

Although
in the book they mistake the changing and reshaping of the house for a monster's roar
so that might have something to do with it
