New dominoes:

12|12, 5|9, 11|9, 12|7, 6|8, 0|5, 9|10

Do we have enough to make anything yet? And if so, what?

We were talking about the inside cover, until fictional_girl asked about the other one. But even if you had figured it out first, there's no reason to be rude about it.

Never meant to be rude..

12|6, 11|8, 0|0, 12|12, 5|9, 11|9, 12|7, 6|8, 0|5, 9|10

I don't know where to start on this one Confused

Dominoes

I think I've figured out how to work the dominoes puzzle.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you add the individual dominoes together i.e. 12|6=18 etc..
Then compare numbers to the alphabet i.e. a=0, b=1, etc..
We get: Stay out of t....

We don't have all the dominoes, but it is working.

Who's giving us these dominoes?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Who had the opportunity to give us the first domino in the Coffeeshop? At the time, the Coffeeshop was described as almost empty, with only Joe and the unnamed waitress present. In the fight, Dottie "appeared familiar", so I think she was the waitress in the Coffeeshop who took away Joseph's business card and left the first domino in its place.

Dottie, along with her boyfriend Philip, must have been in the rowdy group that jostled us just before we found the second two dominoes at the bar in Card 53. As the fight with the rowdy group ended, Dottie (or Philip) probably gave us the final push to the ground, leaving the next 7 dominoes for us to find after recovering.

Their names are a big hint as well, since "Pip" (short for Philip) & "Dot" (short for Dottie) are two names for the dots on dominoes.

I predict the next three dominoes will add to the numbers 7, 8, 18, giving us "Stay out of this", which echoes their earlier sentiments: "We saw what side you're on... pity it's the wrong one..." They clearly don't want anyone working to find Alice, so perhaps they're somehow involved in her disappearance?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was thinking more along the lines of "Stay out of trouble,"
but your theory makes more sense.

Maybe you should read more carefully.

You do see that letter t, don't you? So, since you are so quick to tell people they are wrong, perhaps you can at least tell us just as quickly that you were wrong? An apology would be an ideal way to start.

Place nice guys - it's harder to convey tone on the forums, things can come across more assertively than you actually mean - bear this in mind as you compose your posts.

Paperweight

I would just like to bring up something that may be nothing but might connect later:

" A large paperweight of sorts catches your eye (it's not weighing down any papers at the moment). It is marble and about the size of your fist. A brass plate on its front is engraved with a quote you immediately recognize:

"There's no use trying, one ca'n't believe impossible things."
---
"I daresay you haven't had much practice."

Who was it that so advised Alice? "

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The answer is: The Queen of Hearts.

I Don't know if this means anything but I thought I should add it to the forum.

Right on Muncher, but no place to use it ...yet.
I tried it on Ace the doorman, no luck- can't spot any use for it for now.

Edit: As Thanar points out 'twas indeed the White Queen!

Great job on the dominoes Razz , the 0/0 tile had me looking elsewhere.

My best guess to finish the domino's line: Stay out of the way... or else a member of the AHC (Alice Haters Club) may visit you while you're asleep and place mini marshmallows up your nose.

Well, maybe a little lengthy? Laughing

Actually the character who said the quote on the paperweight is...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The White Queen

The quote is from Through the Looking Glass Chapter 5: Wool and Water (which has Queens from a chess game - Red & White sides - not from a deck of cards):

Alice laughed. `There's no use trying,' she said `one ca'n't believe impossible things.'

`I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. `When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. There goes the shawl again!'

Which Queen (Red or White) speaks here (and wears a shawl)? From the first line of Chapter 5:

SHE caught the shawl as she spoke and looked about for the owner: in another moment the White Queen came running wildly through the wood, with both arms stretched out wide, as if she were flying, and Alice very civilly went to meet her with the shawl.
